Buy a reference card and put an Arctic Accelero Mono on it.
The reference card, with cooler, is only around 24cm, and the PCB is way smaller than that, so an aftermarket cooler on it should work fine.
EDIT: looking at your tiny case, though, I don't know if it'll take the thickness of that. If no one releases a short one, watercooling is one option. The other is to sacrifice a tiny bit of performance (though it'd be a HUGE upgrade from integrated) and get a GTX 970 mini. Amazon has it for $275 after rebate: https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
It's a 120w gpu. The gtx 970 has been cooled by less as a 150w gpu.
It may require a bit of undervolting, because amd is convinced you need an extra 500mv to make yields on Polaris, but after that it'll run great.
Owner of a Gigabyte mini 4GB GTX 970
(This one : https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0 )
100% hate it, cannot run with stock cooler - have it running with a custom water cooling loop to keep it upright...
you're better off with the FE cards than this thing for cooling.
I have a very tiny case (Elite 110) for my main gaming PC that can only take in a card 8 inches or less. Currently rocking the adorable little mini 970 from Gigabyte. I'm super interested to see if anyone makes small versions of the 1080 given it's low power draw. I'm sure it will happen to the 1070 but I'd be more interested in a bigger upgrade. Then I'd move my 970 down to my dev box. Come on OEM's! Give some SFF love to us.
Well, I'm not quite sure your dimensions yet, but I do have a good choice. This micro GTX 970 is a good boost from your 960 and should fit in your PC. (If room allows/Also budget) http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
See I google that card and find $500 cards, But on the GeForce site they have multiple 970's listed for under $400 Some as low as $310 (Probably USD tho) Edit: Around $400 Aud http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OQUMGM0/ref=asc_df_B00OQUMGM04210157?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=52378_iceleadscom-20&linkCode=df0&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B00OQUMGM0&ascsubtag=s14583668910749vj8a52378
Here's a mini 970 but honestly no clue if it performs like its regular size 970.
jesus fcking christ that's some extreme small build, it looks amazing. Can I ask why didn't you go for the mini ITX GTX 970 since you can't fit a blower type in there anyway?
In my case this is my first build so, think I'll go with a case a bit more spacious and easier to manage like the fractal node 804 for example.
Thanks for your list - some questions:
Video Card For the video card does it matter to get the itx version ?
Was looking at this one at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
Is an itx video card something I have to watch out for ? or will regular cards fit in the case ?
Memory I've heard of 8gb being enough for gaming, should I do 16gb ?
Storage Is 480 enough for gaming these days ? worth it to do SSD - thinking I can always add HDD if need more storage
If you don't want to worry about size of the GPU (prefab cases usually have little room to work with), get one of the mini ITX variants of the 970, like this http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0/ref=sr_1_11?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1440244115&sr=1-11&keywords=gtx+970 ASUS makes one as well, I believe.
It can't. I just looked it up. Aparently with new bios update it is working for G3258 though.
I would also suggest a mini card in an mini ITX case. I know this is US, but the picture should show the difference at least.
I'm not sure how much is your PSU capable off pulling watts off the wall, but since it's a 660 I can assume it'll handle this Gigabyte GTX 970 Mini a-okay.
oh ok. as far as graphics cards, what will fit?
do you think this will fit? http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438906087&sr=1-1&keywords=itx+graphics+card
Hey, thank you so much for the reply! I have had issues with nvidia driver crashes in the past, but nothing approaching this. As an update, my friend just let me switch out my gpu with his gtx 960. I zipped around in game with it for a while, and made about a dozen high wake jumps and stared into several suns for an extended period to stress test it (which would have caused a crash of some sort 100% guaranteed with my card).
This definitely makes me suspect it's a problem with my gpu hardware wise. My best guess is that it could be because my 970 came factory overclocked, and from what I've read clocking can be something of an issue with E:D. Is your 970 overclocked perchance? I'm going to contact the manufacturer and see if they have any suggestions, or if I can get an exchange for a non-overclocked 970.
Here you go, itx 970 which is just as powerful as it's full sized version
Also take a look at the Fractal Node 304 or Ncase M1. Both are tiny, the node is about 100$(Readily available), the M1 i think 200 with special order.
If you add an SSD to the computer you can try using migration software (Assuming you havent used more space on the HDD than the SSD can hold) Since they key is tied to the motherboard you should just be able to download a windows 7 ISO (Disk file) and make a bootable USB drive to install windows. You may or may not need to re enter your key.
That case should be able to hold a full sized card. They do make really small GTX 970s (http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0)
The issue is that the power supply currently in that build most likely will not support any decent graphics card.
Id say you should get a new GPU, Power Supply and an SSD. In terms of SSDs id recommend the samsung 850 EVO SSD
For the GPU that 970 I listed will fit (If you get a new power supply)
And for the power supply Id recommend an EVGA 600B PSU (Probably one of the better lower priced power supplies)
some are 10.5 inches, but they do make short ones that only require an 8 pin adaptor. If his psu only has a 6 pin, a 6 to 8 pin adaptor is only a few bucks. This one says 400w psu as well.
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-Graphics-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
EVGA FTW is the highest clocked version of the GTX 970. It also runs the hottest, at around 70c at load. All ACX EVGA cards are the same size, which are all similar sized to the ASUS, ZOTAC, and MSI versions.
If they don't fit, this guy is decent:
Will your graphics card fit in a mini-ITX case? I had to get this tiny gtx970 for my htpc build.
Newegg redirecting to GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE 3X OC EDITION even when searching directly on their site, which is odd since if you search for it returns 0 results followed immediately by 2 hits of an open-box and new version of my exact card which is listed out of stock.
Try Amazon and Gigabyte itself. Also, since my card is in a full ATX case it's not like I even need the mini ITX version in there to use that box. Makes about as much sense to just swap and have me turn around and sell the Strix as it does you, long as you wouldn't take offense to seeing me sell it on here soon as it came in. Realized after dinner that I basically told you to do what I'd end up doing with the Strix anyways, only in the meantime you wouldn't have a card that fit your case. I dunno, brain dead after a long day I guess.

Gigabyte has a mini itx version of the 970.
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
No, it will NOT fit a Titan or any other full length GPU
Max GPU length is 185mm
You can fit a Fury Nano or a Gigabyte 970 GTX mini itx or the Asus DCMOC
Thinnest would be Intel Integrated, but I know that isn't what you're looking for.
~~There's this Gigabyte GTX 970 which I believe is just one slot.~~
Edit: I'm wrong.
What sizes can you fit? The minimum gtx970 does exist like this:
There is one possible problems other than the PSU. I found this picture of the inside of your computer. It looks like the drive bays at the bottom are going to block a normal length video card (ths pcie video card slot is below the fan). However, it also looks like you may be able to unscrew them from the case and move them higher (or maybe just remove one completely) so that the video card is not blocked. Alternatively you could get a short video card made for smaller itx cases.
How about this after I buy it?
I've done a bit more looking and I've found >this< Would something like this work with the 600w and my computer? I'm really set on this.
Is there any way you can get your hands on this gpu? Good cooling and very small

Gigabyte definitely has a stubby one they market toward ITX, you might be thinking of it?
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
I'm thinking of an ITX build in a Corsair 250D.
My question is whether I should consider an ITX 970 or a full sized one. Is there a significant performance/noise/air flow difference? I'm debating between a mini ITX Gigabyte 970, ASUS 970 Strix or the EVGA superclocked 970. Are there other mini 970s that I don't know about?
My main concern is the card fitting into the case and not heating it up too much.
Will Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Mini ITX with a width of 8.3" fit inside Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 with a width of 8.46"?
I know what you're talking about, and that's exactly the one I was thinking about getting if they can afford it. Otherwise, the 750Ti is small as it is.
This might be a bit late but it's in stock here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OQUMGM0/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
There is always the 970 mini if you have space issues.

If money isn't an issue, grab this
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
It's quite nicely priced, and your PSU should be fine
Here's a gigabyte one. There's also an Asus onethat I prefer ~~but don't have the link for at the moment~~
Here's a great low profile CPU coolerthat I've used before and loved.
~~This is a pretty good mitx mobo that you could use.~~ Just realized that you want an 1155 socket not 1150. Sorry

Might be able to for one of these http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-Graphics-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
I've heard good things about this if you have to swap out the GPU:
This might be a good option for power and length concerns
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-Graphics-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0
Seems solid, but maybe you'd want to buy the 1 fanned GPU ? I remember either EVGA or Gigabyte made one, you should consider that.
EDIT: here is it // http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-GV-N970IXOC-4GD/dp/B00OQUMGM0/?tag=logicaincrem-20
They are litterally the same other than the cooler. However if you don't overclock they will be functionally about the same. But seriously if you have $350 may as well get a 970, here's the cheapest one I could find on amazon which will still beat any 290x in that price range.
