"I've heard people say that 100% vg doesn't exist"
It most certainly does too exist:
I use it in my DIY every day.
When mixing everything together. What do you all do to pour and measure the vegetable glycerin? I bought this from Amazon and it's thick. Should I keep it at room temperature? Should I heat it a tad to decrease the viscosity? I couldn't use a syringe on it nor could I use a funnel to pour it into my flask.
What brand of PG and VG is the best to buy? I bought Essential Depot brand from Amazon, but it clogs up my cotton within 2 to 3 days. I have bought e-juice from companies before where they lasted almost a week before clogging up my cotton.
I haven't been mixing that long and I'm not really happy with anything I make. I am wondering now if its the VG I got, it has a distinct rubber after taste to me. I got it off amazon here : [link]
Do you think its the VG or am I just doing it wrong? Note : I usually mix at high vg, normally 80/20 VG/PG.
Edit : My PG came from amazon as well but I tried vaping 100% VG and its definitely a taste in the VG
If you have Amazon Prime free shipping, and maybe even if you don't, Essential Depot is a great source of PG and VG.
As /u/EdibleMalfuntion already pointed out, Carolina Xtracts is the place for top-quality nicotine base with no worries about peppery taste or anything like that, but if it is too pricey for you, look at other sources. VapersTek is one that comes to mind as being highly recommended. Nude Nicotine used to be, and still is by some, but they have had some pretty serious customer service and quality control issues lately.
I'll try DIY. Any suggestions on where to buy the materials? I checked in Amazon: [link]
About 11 bucks for a quart of VG. IS that a good deal? What about the "palm derived" tag, does that affect vaping?
I'm a brand new vaper, got the Smok Stick V8 Kit, and believe it or not, 18mg juice because I thought I'd need it. As you said, it blew my hecking head off, and I also almost coughed my lungs inside out. I didn't want to waste the $50 on the juice from various vendors, so I ended up buying a 32oz bottle of VG on Amazon for $12.97.
I'm guessing you are trying to diy juice? If so the VG I buy which works as good as the other brands I've bought and lots of others use from Amazon is palm derived.. Now idk about flavorings but this is maybe a step in the right direction for what you are looking for? Gold luck don't let the Reddit trolls get ya down 😂
Glycerin Vegetable - 1 Quart (43 oz.) - Non GMO - Sustainable Palm Based - USP - KOSHER - PURE - Pharmaceutical Grade [link]
I just bought it on Amazon. You can find it listed as either glycerin, glycerol, or glycerine, but they all refer to the same thing. Here’s a link to the specific one that I ordered. It was quite cheap, and will last me years. Hope this helps!
I've done it and had good results. It seems to work really well for the old stiff leather you get with thrift shoes. I've used it to bring that stuff back, then used lexol or saphir for further conditioning.
I bought this: [link]
I do this. If you plan to do it a lot, and if you like edibles, I highly recommend you get a magical butter machine (I could actually get you $25 off if you wanted) which makes the tincture in 4 hours.
Vaping is really great. I personally use my vape mod all day either while working at home or walking around. Setting aside the many benefits I've noticed, its also just really stealthy which I like.
I personally would recommend just using pure vegetable glycerin as opposed to the ejmix but either one should work. I aimed for about 10mg/mL for my first batch and that turned out to be a pretty good concentration for vaping.
Also be aware that you can take the tincture sublingually for a longer lasting high if you decarb first
I know walmart usually carry VG and PG for other reasons. You can get a quart of VG of Amazon for $11.
Buy some of this, pour, mix well, pack and smoke.
If you add too much, it will taste soapy, if you add too little you already know how it will taste. I think Zag is a super delicious flavor, but it's just way too dry.
Dilution as far as I know, you can buy vegetable glycerin on amazon and add it to your e-liquid. I'm not %100 sure on how people do this ratio wise, but I do know it'll dilute the flavor a tiny bit. (someone I'm sure can tell you how, they'll be here soon enough)
And like I said 24mg on anything above 1.0 ohm is perfectly fine, just with sub-ohm it's usually not going to end well. It's a good way to get yourself really sick.
So for you, I'd probably stay away from sub-ohm coils, and just stick with 1.0 ohm+. That way you can keep yourself on the 24mg, and slowly take yourself down in nicotine levels as you see fit, you can also just sit and puff if you need to, without having to worry about the nicotine too much. You'll also save money because sub-ohming tears through juice.
And trust me it's a lot better on the VG side of things. PG is good in small amounts as long as you aren't allergic to it. Helps with that "I'm smoking a cig" feeling. But it'll be much nicer when every hit doesn't feel like steel wool is being dragged across your larynx. Especially in the beginning, because your body does eventually get used to it, but you're in the early stages so it's going to suck a lot more.
Not at all, it all depends on if you like the flavor. It's my experience that DM fruit flavors should be avoided like the plague. However, their spice flavors can be quite good. Buy this vegetable glycerin and pour a bit on top of the tobacco, either directly in the container or in a smaller batch. Mix well and use a phunnel bowl. You can play with the amount of glycerin, but too much will give you a soapy flavor. I'm not sure about honey and other such things because I've never used them but if the DM page says you can do so then I'm sure it's good idea.
Basically it's similar to any other hookah tobacco but with the added step of moisturizing it. Either way it'll be a little strong but if you have a bit of spending money it may be worth a try.
Zaghloul is similar to the DM because it's relatively dry, although the cut is completely different. DM is very fine cut, Zag is Nakhla cut. I have no experience with Jurak.

Capellas makes pretty good desert style flavors although they can be a little buttery. Their magnum opus is their vanilla custard which I believe is the best on market right now.
TPA has all around good flavors and the most popular flavor company on this sub. Starting here would be highly encouraged.
FlavorArt has flavors that are considered closest to their real life namesakes. This can be bad or good as a lot of their flavors don't have any candy-like flavor to them.
FlavorWest has sort of like a baskin Robbins when it comes to flavors. They have a ton of different and unique flavors although a lot of them fail to meet expectations. That said, they are very beginner friendly because they are fairly weak. Do your research first before ordering specific flavors from here and you could be pleasantly surprised.
LorAnns is all about the candy flavor. Everything tastes like the hard candy version of their namesake. Make sure you research which flavors are actually vapeable before buying
Amazon, Essential Depot. You can order from Essential Depot direct at
Or save on shipping if you have Prime
I've been getting my PG/VG from Essential Depot via Amazon for years.
Get two and you have half a gallon.
$70/gal on amazon Canada. Wayyy too much money
A quart is $40
I have been getting my PG and VG from Amazon. Its cheap and if you have prime it gets there super fast.
I use the essential depot VG, and PG. I get them quarts at a time for like 11-13 bucks apiece and that shit lasts a long time. You will go through more VG than PG usually.
I used to get my nicotine from wizard labs but I recently started using nude nicotine, I recommend it. In the DIY sub youll see a shit ton of vendors and a bunch of brands people swear by. Thats the part that can be overwhelming.
you can get bottles so many fucking places, if you just want a few amazon will do you right, wizard labs has em. Lately I have been just getting them from fasttech cause they are decent bottles (plastic) and they are cheap as fuck. when searching for bottles a good tip to have is 1/2oz bottles are 15mls and 1oz bottles are 30mls,
[link] is a pretty awesome place.
[link] is nice too.
For just starting you dont need much, PG, VG, NIc, Bottles, Flavors, Get a couple of 1ml and 3ml Syringes, and some 14g needle tips for VG based shit, and 18G tips for PG based shit.
My mixes are mostly VG, so I get my nicotine in VG Carrier base. I think I have pretty much covered most beginner info. I hope you decide to check it out its pretty rewarding and fucking fun.
Come hang out, Lurk about or whatever
I forgot you will also want to use a ejuice calculator, I use the POTV ejuice calculator on my phone it works well and its free. Its in the Android and iOs store. Peace!
That's a pretty big budget to get started. I'll link you a few things you may like.
Nude Nicotine DIY starter kit (mid-tier): This is the kit that I started with. I opted for the 500 ml's of vg and vg-based nicotine. It comes with five of their own flavor bases and the only thing I can say is mix lower percentages to start. Like around 2-4 percent. They are very strong concentrates. Everything else like the syringes and vials have gotten some kind of use from me, so I consider it an overall good value. Additionally, you can just buy nicotine from them (they're still my go-to nic vendor) at a really good price. 120 ml bottle of their 100mg nic base runs about 20 bucks+shipping. The biggest downside to these guys is their packaging time can take a couple/few days.
Bull City Vapor is where I go to get my flavors, syringes, and bottles. Ship and packaging time is pretty quick and they have great customer service. Biggest downside I've found from using them is they can quickly run out of some of their more popular flavors. They have a wide selection of flavorings so I'd recommend looking up recipes you want to start with on /r/DIY_eJuice and/or see what flavor percentages people are using to get a good idea of what's good.
Essential Depot has a good deal on PG/VG in bulk packages. I also pick up smaller bottles (1 liter) here on amazon with prime.
Some people mix/measure with weight. Here is the scale that's recommended and the mix by weight tutorial. I haven't yet got into it, as money is tight. Though I'm saving up to check it out.
As far recipe software goes, I use this calculator. It saves recipes, ingredients, and their costs. It isn't perfect, but it's easy enough to learn and use. Though it is Windows only.
Beyond that, the /r/diy_ejuice sidebar is a great resource and can further help you on your getting started journey.
Last advice: Start with small batches and flavor percentages when experimenting. You can put scotch tape over the markings of your syringes to prevent rubbing off of the numbers. Always, ALWAYS shake your vg nic really well before mixing.
I'd get this one. It's a popular choice, has the purity certifications people look for, and it's way cheaper.
Everything you need to make your own juice for less than $1 per 30ml:
I am partial to Capella's, some of the other brands flavors can have a soapy flaovr.
Here is what I get.
Here is the PG
I get my flavours from wizardlabs
Amazon Prime: Essential Depot VG, 1 quart, $12.97
Amazon Prime: Essential Depot VG, 1 gallon, $23.47
If you're going to vape like he suggested here's what to get.
For VG/PG this is food grade and what everybody uses: [link]
Here's the scale everybody uses which goes down to .01 grams and is flawless: [link]
Sign up for [link] and then you can use the calculator to measure with grams and break down the pg/vg nic and flavors which is the tool all DIY e-juice use. Back in the day we did it by volume which was a pain in the ass and doing it by grams is a game changer.
I wouldn't bother with nic but if you do choose so nudenicotine.com offer a free sample ($3 shipping) get the 100mg pg version. If you do go into ecigs DIY section for safety. Although if you have common sense it's actually very easy and safe but go to the right section in DIY.
Get pippets: [link]
Get some latex gloves or something.
If you're going to add flavoring this is my favorite: [link] - or their mixed mint which is the same but menthol - Eucalyptus will clear your sinus for a year.
INW is a premium flavoring company because $2-3 dollars for flavoring is expenisve in the juice world, that's why every vapor should DIY but they get overwhelmed with all the info, but it's easy as hell. The 10ml (don't bet the 30) will last you probably your whole life. I would go either 1% or 2% using the calulator, I couldn't imagine using anything above 3% because it's so crazy concontrated.
This is what I use.
The label on mine doesn't specify but the picture of the one I last purchased does show "Palm Derived" there.
After reading thru this site, here is my shopping list:
Going for a 70pg/30vg blend, just need to track down a good e-juice calculator from the sidebar.
You can. I prefer to buy it off Amazon though TBH.
I buy Essential Depot Vegetable Glycerin And Propylene Glcyol
No reason I just like to stick with one company.
Heres The DIY Clone list. The all loved Nana Cream is on there and Im vaping it now and its wonderful. I think enough flavoring to make like 120ml was $10???? Cant remember off the top of my head.
I buy my VG and PG from Amazon for my DIY juices.
Thanks for the response. I shake all my mixes for 5 minutes while I watch something on netflix. I was going based on some of the recipes others have posted and even just now tried that TFA percentages list for the ripe strawberry (i'll try to lower it).
I was browsing the web on this topic and noticed some people say it may be the VG/PG I used. I got Essential Depot VG and PG, could those possibly be the culprit?
I'm gunna mix a lower percentage of the ripe strawberry and update in a moment
I ran out of VG one week and was desperate and ordered this:
Vapes fine, but apparently the seal is bad.
You can get a quart on Amazon.com for 12.97
What about tincture?
That's what I do, and I find it to be really easy to do once you get the hang of it.
Also the tincture bottles are cheap, and I think it would make a nice product in a dispensary.
I've played around with both glycerin and alcohol, and I much prefer the glycerin tinctures (as do the couple of people that also tried them).
And as for making it ... I tried a few methods to speed up the process, but I actually find that the best and smoothest tinctures come from the tried and true method of just covering your ground up material with glycerin in a jar, putting the jar in a dark place, and flipping it over once or twice a day for a month.
I activate my material in the oven first btw, 240 for like 40 minutes (covered with foil in an oven safe dish). Probably optional, but I grow Harlequin that has fairly minimal THC in the fan leaves so I like to activate what's there for a synergistic effect.
The thing about the jar method is that the resulting tincture is really, really smooth.
Oh one last tip if you do that: get some distilled water and add some to the mix at the end to make straining it easier. It makes it easier to use too, as glycerin is really, really, thick.
This is the glycerin I use - food grade, fairly inexpensive:
These are the tincture bottles I purchased:
And of course a few canning jars, but I had those already.
1Q VG from Essential Depot - $13 on Amazon (Prime Shipping)
1Q PG (if you're into that sort of thing) from ED - $13 on Amazon (Prime Shipping)
120ml 100mg/ml Nicotine - $15 on Wizard Labs
8ml flavorings for a clone recipe you found on /r/DIY_eJuice - ~$2/8ml on Wizard Labs (So you can group them in the same shipping. I mostly use eCigExpress or BullCityVapor now)
Then get some random syringes and shit. I prefer to use at least 3 1ml syringes for making juice for myself (I reuse syringes when I'm not making juice for other people); one for flavorings, one for nicotine, one for menthol/koolada. Reuse old glass bottles for free.
The way I do my own juice is: 30ml bottle, add correct amount of flavorings, add ~1ml of nicotine, fill the rest of the bottle with VG, shake, then let sit for 2-3 days unless it's a shake n vape or I'm out of juice.
You could use more syringes if you wanted, but it's never given me an issue while making juice for myself. Also completely getting rid of PG is a decent way to make mixing easier and cheaper initially. Personally I just put in the right amount of flavorings and nic then fill to the top of the bottle with VG.
If you need recipes go over to /r/DIY_eJuice or PM me and I'll send you what I have (mostly clones or slightly changed versions of other people's recipes).
I'm going to use Vapewild as an example but you can do this with most vendors. I buy the bottle size I need (120 ml if I like the flavor or 30 ml if I'm trying it for the first time) and I get 2x the nicotine level I usually vape. I vape 3mg so I order 6mg. For the PG/VG blend, I order 65%VG/35%PG because I like to end up with a high VG blend. Get the extra flavoring too!
Save your bottles from other juice you have used, rinse them and let them completely dry. When you get your order, shake the bottles so you know its fully mixed. Fill the empty bottle up half way and then fill the rest of the way with VG. This will give you your desired nicotine level and, if you ordered 65%VG, a final blend of about 83% VG. Shake the absolute shit out of it, and ta-da! Juice for anywhere from $2 to $4 dollars a bottle (depending on your costs).
For VG, I bought one of these from Walmart or HEB and refill it with this (the mouth on that big bottle makes it impossible to pour into a little 30ml and the humco bottle has a small nozzle). If you buy your "concentrate" in a 120 ml bottle, you will need pipettes (100 for $4) to transfer into the empty bottle.
This is the lazy man's DIY eliquid. I still do this sometimes, but I bought a bunch of DIY stuff and it's even cheaper that way.
"So you've never been to a Baskin-Robbins?" And of course you can just buy a quart of flavorless VG from Amazon for $13 and just vape it.
Here's some of our favorite vendors. Refer to the sidebar for the "How to DIY" aspect. Main recommendations I have are to mix by weight and to get your nicotine suspended in PG. PM me if you have any specific questions and I'll try my best to help you out
Here are the most popular flavors for your first order
Chefs Vapour and Just Vape for flavors
Or get 5 times more for just another $9.08 if you have amazon prime, 2 day delivery free [link]
Here's some helpful info regarding the shelf life of flavors (from TFA)
Best places for VG
Amazon for VG/PG (Essential Depot)
Don't use droppers on flavor bottles. The smaller aroma molecules will escape through the rubber. Instead, use pippettes. Or you can buy these bottles to pour your wizard lab bottles into. That way you can easily squeeze your flavors into your mixes.
TFA is still a great company, but it's hard to tell why your juices were flat without more information. What were you trying to make, and how?
I'm just gonna cut and paste from my old post regarding amazon so ignore irrelevant info:
BTW, I'm going to discourage you from ordering directly from TFA for your first order. I assume you would be ordering bulk if that's the case (you can find the smaller quantities at much lower prices at just about any middle man retailer). I would highly suggest Wizard Labs to start, so you can order a bunch of flavors really cheap. On the other hand, if you want to skip out on 8ml bottles, I'd go to ecig express or Bull City Vapr
Pick up some of this. It'll last you forever, and its really good stuff.
I buy this: [link]
Note "USP Food Grade"
If you prefer a 50/50 blend, you could do that too. I bought a quart of VG on amazon for ~$12.
VG on Amazon / PG on Amazon
Or order from a place like Nude Nicotine, pre-mixed (1L of 50/50 is $14)
Is there something special about this Vegetable Glycerin?
You can get similar quantities at much better prices on Amazon, and they're USP grade as well.
> VG was virtually impossible to find. Sounds like the availability of it is still likely to be an issue.
Big ol' jug of VG
So just some of this, and then I add my own water, or do they make it with water?
You can get it on amazon pretty cheap too.
