Yeah.......... I apparently cant read and or I assumed that its a usb cable with a plug, it should work! right?! considering all usb cables carry data lol. BUT I can't get it to work >.<
from googling now I've found 2 things, apparently the ones that come with a headphone jack and adapter to usb titled with simulator do work, but then theirs also the people who can't get it to work anyways... I figured a usb cable is a usb cable lol... I probably shoulda just ordered the cable from banggood with my order. oh well... If your USA theres a few on amazon like this https://www.amazon.com/GoolRC-Universal-Flight-Simulator-Futaba/dp/B00DR4I4O0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490187880&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+simulator+cable
I'm going to see about trying to make my own cable since I have the end I need for the controller, but we'll see. I need to find a USB plug with the right kinda chip apparently
Thanks for the reply!
Yes, I have ER9x flashed and this is the USB adapter I have been trying to use.
I'm having a similar problem, I think. It just doesn't register at all. Nothing installs or pops up when I plug it in and no controllers show up in Windows or simulator settings. The Tx does, however, power up when I plug it in.
Any ideas? Did you have to remove the module for yours to work?
I'd prefer to use the USB adapter over 3.5mm connection. But at this point I'll take anything that works. haha So I'd appreciate any tips you might have. Thanks!
I've been trying to get my 9x set up with a simulator for like 6 months. I have this USB adapter. But the computer doesn't appear to recognize it when I plug in.
I've also tried the mono cable approach, but I can't get the software to install correctly. Are you only using Smartpropoplus? Any other software? And do you have to remove the module for it to work? Are you still using the stock module? I've got a FrSky DHT installed in mine.
I'd appreciate any guidance you might be able to offer. I want to get into these sims, but it seems kinda pointless with an Xbox controller. :/
What firmware are you running on the Taranis X9D? The one that original shipped with when it came out didn't work as a game controller.
Also if you just want to get a cable instead of figure out how to get the USB working this one works. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DR4I4O0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage The transmitter outputs a simple PPM signal so as long as the cable says in accepts a PPM signal it should work.
Where did you get that cable? It looks like it doesnt have any hardware to convert the 9xr signal to something your computer can use. Like this: http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Flight-Simulator-Cable-Futaba/dp/B00DR4I4O0
If you have the proper adapter these steps should get you up and running:
Hopefully this can help! "It works, after a bit of work. It seems that my Turnigy 9x, my Mac and FPV-Freerider are a bit sensitive to this whole operation and it took me a week to find the trick, thanks to reddit user /u/flayzeraynx. No driver installs or anything, here's what I had to do: "Connect the USB adapter to your Mac. No need to install any driver. Remove your tx module from the back. Plug the stereo audio cable to the simulator cable slot (its at the back, below the module).. do NOT turn on the Transmitter, the TX will get enough power from the audio cable. Now create and select a new model on your tx(if you have this capability), select acro plane, and mode 2, reverse the elevator channel. Now open freerider on the MAC and select usb controller from the input and select" Then I also have to calibrate the controller every time I start the app, it's a little annoying, but FPV-freerider is free for one map and cheap to buy the rest. If I bump the USB or the trainer port when I'm in the app, I lose it and have to close the program and start from the beginning. Hope this helps someone else!"
No need for trainer mode or anything like that. The 9xr should power up on its own when you plug in the adapter.
Thank you! I spent 20 minutes earlier this evening trying to figure out which dongle to get for my new Turnigy (For $21 how can you not get one?! :) 9x on osx.
I can't wait to try it on aerofly and fpv free rider.
BTW, has anyone tried the copters on aerofly? Are the physics are pathetic? or is my setup?
Edit: This dongle is only available in the international warehouse w/ $20+ shipping. It appears this one on amazon has free shipping with reasonable estimates on timing http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Flight-Simulator-Cable-Futaba/dp/B00DR4I4O0/ for $10 USD
I used that on my 9X until I got a Taranis. Setup for the 9X was a PITA and the Taranis with no setup works way better. But hey, you use what you got.
First, forget the SmartProPoPlus, it's just a terrible route to interface the DX6i, and bite the bullet and get this USB adapter.
Instead of cranking up Expo, turn down your rates on the TX and leave Expo at something more reasonable, like try 20-30 first. With 100% expo, you'll have dead spots in the center and extremely sensitive edges of the stick, which is a really weird feeling to control. Try lowering rates to something like 70 and expo 20, then tweak it from there. If you feel it's too sensitive, tweak expo. If you feel like you're not able to roll/flip the quad fast enough, turn up rate a bit.
I use one of these cables with my dx5e and it reads just as a joystick on my windows computer. Not sure if it works for mac
This is the cable I am using for for both OSX and Windows7 and no additional drivers are needed. You will need the er9x firmware and you just need to be sure to change the signal to PPMSIM from PPM to in the Protocol submenu.
Yes using a 9xr with er9x. Made a new model and named it sim. Using this cable took out model in radio. Plugged into computer and did the calibration for radio in freerider.
Here's the exact one I bought:
https://www.amazon.com/GoolRC-Helicopter-Airplane-Simulator-Controller/dp/B00DR4I4O0/
It works fine with my Spektrum Dx6 and the description says it works with Futaba too. Check the pics to make sure one of their adapters works with your radio.
You need a simulator cable like this: https://www.amazon.com/GoolRC-Helicopter-Airplane-Simulator-Controller/dp/B00DR4I4O0
Yes you'd use the transmitter with the computer. The cable loosks something like this https://www.amazon.com/GoolRC-Universal-Flight-Simulator-Futaba/dp/B00DR4I4O0
Oh I see it has a trainer port but its not a 3.5mm cable like on spektrum the best way to hook it up would buy a cable for it something like this https://www.amazon.com/GoolRC-Universal-Flight-Simulator-Futaba/dp/B00DR4I4O0
Also a vid if u just want to solder up the cable yourself https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF2BIekw2tw
I spent countless hours trying to set this up. I was on mac though.
Just get the USBFMS cable.https://www.amazon.com/GoolRC-Universal-Flight-Simulator-Futaba/dp/B00DR4I4O0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470893605&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+fms
Does it have to be this exact one?
This offers the same functionality, assuming that they're talking about simulator use rather than, say, firmware upgrades or model transfers.
That's out of stock at DX, but here it is at Amazon.
Also, I know nothing of this site that's selling this (or if they really have it in stock) but with that and a round to square Futaba plug adapter you should have basically the same thing.
The RadioLink AT9 IS cheap and works well with both FPV Freerider and Liftoff. You need an adapter, though.
DX6 with this cable: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DR4I4O0
You can use this cable: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DR4I4O0
I bought this one. It looks visually identical to the one you've linked. Windows 8.1 found the drivers automatically.
