Ah gotcha. Yeah it being a work truck and for daily use does make a difference for sure. If I were in your shoes and looking for a daily work light that just happened to be stored in my work truck I would think about the mount last. I'd get the exact light I want and then look for suitable mounting solutions since the actual use of the light every day will probably be more important than how it's stored.
For the nextorch belt thingy you could honestly just get some double sided foam tape and use that to stick it to the door panel or something. The back of it is flat so that should work nicely.
Yeah happened to my buddies pint and mine. The adhesive stopped working at some points. Bought this off amazon and it did the tricky perfectly. Gorilla Heavy Duty Double Sided Mounting Tape, 1" x 60", Black, (Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019HT1U9E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cwS8EbQCCJ3NM
Never took them off, the Mrs worked around the rear pony and the side badges stay on so no reason to pull em.
I have used both Gorilla and 3M Mounting tape but I'm not sure of the thickness vs the OEM foam tape.
Those holes in the back are for an adjustable motor mount. Similar to what you see in the new traxxas sledge. You may have to customize though - no idea where you’d find one that fits.
Gorilla tape for ESC and receiver. You may even be able to get away with gorilla tape for the servo. Could be sketchy though.
It would all be pretty easy with modeling know-how and a 3D printer. Otherwise it could get pretty frustrating.
Alright, so I got double sided gorilla tape
Man, I don't know how this stuff works so good, but it is no joke. when you handle it yourself, you're gonna be skeptical that it has any significant grip at all, but you just need to apply some pressure between the surfaces and its on there for good.
Gorilla Mounting Tape (Heavy Duty version) has been working well for me lately in a few windshield mounting applications other than dashcams where I've found that their regular formulation gets soft and loses some tack in the summer heat. My A119 has done well even with the regular formula actually, as I stuck it to the black dotted area near the rear view mirror rather than plain glass.
My clamp can't really grip my table so I use this. That's really only a solution if you don't move your wheel around, though.
honestly its super easy...
u need
how to assemble:
Use a utility knife and a straight edge to score and cut the acrylic sheets. U don’t need to cut all the way through just enough to snap it over the edge of a table. Should be left with six 12” squares of clear acrylic.
Dry build the box (i just used masking tape to hold it together) and just cut the corner guard to the needed length for each side.
Apply the mirror film to acrylic
Dry build the corner guard into a box (ur trying to achieve a frame) and place the mirrored acrylic into place, EXCEPT the top piece. That u just set on top of the frame.
Lay in the LED strips (just tape them in place for now). Theres a way to do it where u only need to over lap 3 times, its impossible to cover every edge without overlapping.
Ur practically done! Just go back and use the mounting tape to set everything in place. For the top piece, use velcro on the corners and just stick it in place. This will save u a lot of frustration and time (trust me).
Thats pretty much it. I kinda just started making it and winged it the whole way. Longest and hardest part is cutting the acrylic but its not that bad. Whole thing took me abt 2 trips to home depot and 3 hours over 2 two days (mirror film take 12 hrs to set). All and all, it was really easy. It helps to have someone help build, but theres nothing u really can’t do by urself. Hope u guys enjoy! reply w questions abt stuff n ill try to answer
ill edit this post later to include the amazon links to the LED strips and include pictures
Edit: Added links
Swap out the adhesive with some high tension Gorilla Glue mounting tape. I use the 15lb. stuff for usb hubs and the like and its a major pain to remove them after. If you use the 30lb. stuff it would be nigh impossible to remove without tools. As for the retention pin that's something I'm afraid I don't know how to prevent removal of.
I've first tried Velcro heavy duty 50mm tape, but it failed pretty quickly. I moved on to Gorilla mounting tape which has lasted a few months so far with no signs of fatigue, so that's what I'd recommend!
I'd also recommend grabbing a roll of 10mm velcro wrap for coiling the cables.
Get some of this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gorilla-6055001-Black-1-Pack/dp/B019HT1U9E
That will stick very well to rough surfaces like that with no problem. I've stuck things to concrete with this stuff.
Gorilla Heavy Duty Double Sided Mounting Tape - Black in extreme heat doesn't work so good. However, it depends upon where you live.
Gorilla Tough & Clear Double Sided Mounting Tape - This works, but unsure of dash cam use.
3M VHB Double Sided Foam Adhesive Tape 5952 Grey Automotive Mounting Industrial Grade - I hear good things about this one for vehicles. /u/Tszuba suggested it as well.
There may be better options than this, but Gorilla Heavy Duty Double Sided Mounting Tape should be easy enough to find
I used some double sided foam tape to attach the two halves back to back and added a pocket clip so I can carry the bit kit as a unit clipped to my pocket when I need to. The rest of the time it stays in my EDC bag. I did that about four years ago and I'm quite pleased with it. It's much better than the two awkward halves it comes in. Photos
> Is there a way to get a replacement set of adhesives for the dashcam and the GPS unit?
Gorilla is just a brand, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-6055001-Heavy-Mounting-Double-Sided/dp/B019HT1U9E
Most of their products really are quite good though.
You could try installing the smartphone app, and upgrading the firmware but AFAIK you can't disable the Yi's G sensor.
You could also try using foam adhesive tape - 30lb high strength black Gorilla and isolating the dash cam/mount from the vibration in the first place.
Gorilla Heavy Duty Mounting Tape ($6-7 USD)
I don't have that table. I use a 5 foot long plastic table^1 and I attached a surge protector to it with this Gorilla double sided tape ...maybe it's 6ft?
I put tape on the back, covering the whole length of the back so the weight is distributed throughout.
Thanks! Here is what I used.
I have the reptisun 10.0 24" im housing in a 40 gallon breeder. Just saying, getting tile was the best tank move I've made, good luck with your setup!
