I have an amazon link for a set I used, pretty happy w them, will edit this comment

I have these, work good, pretty colors, I like them not bad for 30$. App works good too. only thing ill catch them on is that the "music" function I think just works off a microphone flashing the lights on when it detects a noise thats louder, IE when the bass in a song hits it'll flash, not the worst but def doesn't play with the song perfectly
Thanks! Honestly the strip is bendable. So I incrementally bent it to make the curve. It has a sticky back too. No issue. Also I used a single 16’ strip (link above) and it is applied as a double loop within the frame. The app the led strip comes with (via phone) allows you to control segments of the strip so the double loop worked perfectly to allow for overlay gradients of color.
They make wireless rgb strips, I believe phillips has some pretty good ones but they're a bit pricey. If not there are these as well, Govee Smart Lights :)

Not gonna lie, I was thinking the same thing when I was installing them 🤣.
They are just the govee light strip. Highly recommend that company. They cost a fraction of Philips hue and perform just as good. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N1CMGQQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_66VSMM1HC80509GQZ01A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The make-shift PC stand is 2x4 with a thin plywood top. Just something I whipped together when I was debating keeping the pc on the desk or floor. I actually like the idea of mounting the PC to the wall, still might do that.

I don’t recall my exact version of the Govee light strips, but something like these. The app is loaded with different lighting profiles, it’s pretty neat.
Simply applied with 3M tape that comes with the strips — benefit of this particular brand is I can control multiple devices from app on phone. Link below:
I used the lights in the link HERE. Wrapped the top and bottom of each shelf along the wall for up and down lighting. Only complaint/next tweak is to add down lighting above the top shelf but will have to get creative for how to keep that clean looking.

I got these here. You can get just a normal light strip with a remote, but basically everything in this apartment is connected to echo with some form of routine/timer etc. so I of course got the "smart" light strip.
Brightness is not a big deal for me, in fact I rarely have my lights above 50%, so in that issue I can't be of help.

Amazon has a 16ft set for $20, which seems a cheap way to check it out
Sorry, I am not going to get excited about rebranded led light strips that can be bought off amazon for $15 (with google assistant control) because they can be controlled through the wyze app.
I recommend these:

The strip behind my monitor is actually a Monster Smart LED strip. I honestly like everything about them better (cheaper, sealed/weatherproof, smaller inline controller, USB powered, they fade on/off). That’s what I had both behind the monitor and desk previously and had no issues. During my move, the strip behind the desk got damaged/broken. I thought “no problem, I’ll got to Walmart and pick up another strip for 12 dollars” (easiest and cheapest place to get them and usually have them in stock all the time). So I did and I just straight up couldn’t get it connected to my network. Tried everything and didn’t work, apparently a common problem with these strips. So I went to Walmart and bought TWO MORE strips thinking that surely one of them would work. Nope. So I ended up returning the 3 bum Monster strips and ordering the above linked strip on Amazon. It might be worth it to go to your local Walmart and buy a couple just to see if you get a good Monster brand one that will work and return it if not.
Just a generic 5050 LED strip off Amazon. There are definitely better, more efficient options out there but I went with this one because it's plug and play. Also most settings (timer, brightness, color, etc) can be changed though the Govee app.

Honestly you could probably just get a colored RGB LED strip and just stick it all under the truck. Most of them come with a remote so he can change the color to his liking and it’s really cheap too. You would probably just need to make sure it stays firm and maybe get some gorilla glue or tape or something(make sure it’s out of sight obviously) to keep it in place.
Not sure how good this would work out cause I never saw it or did it on my truck but maybe it’s worth looking into

Hey dude, I bought it in Europe but you can think of this one:
For anyone curious and may be wanting to do the same thing, I got these LED lights from Amazon for about $25. They are fully customizable to display any color you want in any pattern. They can even play to music. I can control them thru my phone app, the remote on the desk, or via Alexa. Definitely recommend.
You know that it's not Neon, right? Amazon sells LED Strips that are flexible and have 3M stick on backing on them

Would you recommend these? I can’t tell by the photo they have on there what p it is :/
These also look like they’re wireless so I don’t have to plug in each one when I cut them. Is that right?

I ordered some yesterday and they are home bridge compatible.
I used the Govee LED lights. They have a built-in microphone. They are used often for clubs or behind TVs.
Yes you would need something more sophisticated than Smart Life to do what you want. You also need to get a Wifi-capable LED strip light, like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Govee-Brighter-Million-Controlled-Kitchen/dp/B07N1CMGQQ
If you get a LED strip that has a Wifi controller than as a minimum you could use Alexa to do a rough estimate of what you want to do by having a series of Routines that run every hour or less to change the LED characteristics, but it would be done in steps, not smoothly.
To do it more smoothly would require a more sophisticated automation controller, like Home Assistant or Hubatit.

Uploaded a bunch of pics and a short video of our current setup: https://imgur.com/gallery/NqEMXBB
The LEDs under neath the treadmill are Govee LED strips. They connect to wifi and have an adhesive back to them that you can just stick them on to things. The controller on it has a special music mode where it changes colors automatically so it doesn't necessarily need wifi for anything. They are easy to cut to length but to go around the edges of the treadmill I also bought these right angle connectors.
I also found these party lights to project on the ceiling. They don't connect to wifi or anything but do come with a little remote. They also have a couple music settings to make them flash/change color along with the music.
The Kasa color ceiling lights are WiFi controlled and is the only "complicated" part. The app allows you to set them to a specific color but as far as I can tell, theres no easy way from the app to change them to different colors automatically. I picked these (and the LED strips) because they integrate easily with a home automation platform called Home Assistant which I then wrote a short script to change them to a random color every second. I just found these Govee light bulbs which also do the music sync like the LED strips above and use the same app... which to be honest probably would have been much easier (and cheaper) to setup than the Kasa ones I used.
I don’t know where my wife bought the bulbs unfortunately but these are the LEDs that I have behind the TV: Govee Smart LED Strip Lights,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N1CMGQQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
H6159 I believe it is. I’ll link it.
I'm looking for an led hub like this one from geeni. I want to be able to control them from the geeni app and by my google assistant.
These are the ones I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N1CMGQQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
No camera or anything, I just set the color or effect from the phone app based on what i'm doing. Usually go with blue or sometimes I'll sorta match the color to the vibe of the movie or game
Here’s the product link: they’re pretty neat!

LED strips don't work with Alexa. That's all up to the controller. If you meant brands, Govee seems to be the one of the best out of the box since they come with a complete setup and has an app with numerous modes. They have a few that work with Alexa. I don't know why you think they all have bad reviews. Like this is one of the first I found and has over 42k reviews and is almost 5 stars. https://www.amazon.com/Govee-Brighter-Million-Controlled-Kitchen/dp/B07N1CMGQQ/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=govee%2Bled%2Bstrips&qid=1625562009&sr=8-2-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyMUs1MlFBWEY4TUwmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA4NjgyNDAySExXMEs0WkpSTFlXJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAyNDA5OTgyVU4xOVdBRVo2RTBZJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1
If you're worried that it has SOME bad reviews, welcome to how reviews work. It's always going to be that way when you get that many people chiming in. I'm not recommending that particular Govee mind you. Just saying, they seem to be a popular brand on a lot of youtube vids and in reviews.
But if you want one with just a WIFI capable controller just to be able to pair with Alexa there are too many to list to give you a good recommendation. Because now you can pair wifi controllers with all sorts of different LED strips like really dense 144 LED per meter LED strips to not so dense but much longer 30 LED per meter strips. Plus there's ten zilliion different apps and controllers out there. Everything from doing your PC, to your room, to the whole outside of your house for like Christmas shows and the like. All depends on what you're trying to do, how much you want to spend, Etc.
lol I'm saying what I'm saying. I promise nothing. I'm not some super user that goes around buying up everything in the LED world to test out shit. I don't own govee strips. Yet anyways. I'm on this subreddit to learn more about their app because I want to run a long reel of LED strips instead of the smallers ones I've been using. The strips I bought are clearly in the LTT link from Amazon which are type 5050 LEDs. Also in that link are the deepest channel and lens combo I could find for the taller towers and I did a lot of research for specifically the deepest combos I could find. In the other links for the smaller side towers it was the same type of LED but more densely packed at 144 per meter in a shallower lens channel combo. I said they SHOULD work. I didn't do anything to modify any of the lenses. Just snapped them on. The only thing I modded was the caps for the taller towers because they didn't sell caps for that particular lens and channel combo.
I don't even know which govee you're buying so I can't compare LED types for brightness. I'm just telling you what I've learned as was already told you by someone else. You need as much space as possible between where you mount them and the lens if you want to insure there are no hot spots. Based on here though at least for these govee it's saying it's using 5050 LED, which is the same as the ones I used. https://www.amazon.com/Govee-Brighter-Million-Controlled-Kitchen/dp/B07N1CMGQQ So unless govee uses other types of LED in different strips then I don't see why you'd get hotspots with those lens channel combos. lol But I'm not going to sit here and look up every different govee LED strip. And I'm not going to promise anything especially when I don't even know what you're buying. Govee also has RGBWW which has their own dedicated white LED which mine don't have.
If you want 100% assurance I suggest you contact govee. If you can find a deeper channel and lens combo then the ones in the LTT link then let me know.

Govee Lights

and the other lights in the lamps are Phillips Hue lightbulbs
I used the routine function in the Amazon Alexa Devices along with logic sequencing techniques (talk more about this later) I've learned from building excel functions at work.
Most of the devices are Alexa compatible like the string lights around my desk and the color changing light bulbs. I also have a Alexa compatible outlet surge protector for the non-alexia compatible devices like my monitors, their smaller usb string-lights, a wall mounted LED bendable light. The Alexa outlet surge protector is capable of naming each plug and the usb sockets a group. Alexa can turn off and on those by name.
The routines are set as voice commands, but you can set them various ways.
Currently: I have one for turning on my xbox called "Echo, Let's play xbox"
When I say that, this happens in sequence:
1) Xbox turns on (xbox connectable Alexa skill from Microsoft)
2) The HDMI switcher Turns off (this is connected to my Alexa outlet)
3) Alexa Device says "Alright Bee-rye, Lets get some dubs"
4) All lights turn off
5) USB Backlights on the TV and wall mounted Monitor turn on (I always keep them Purple)
6) Monitors plugged into the smart outlet turn on
7) HDMI switcher turns on and auto switches to first port (xbox)
8) Warzone Flow from my Spotify list plays for 50 seconds.

I have routines like this for waking up and turning all lights on and telling me the weather, and to have a good day. I have one for studying or focus time. That I go "Echo, Jump to Warp Speed. Device replies "Jumping to Warp Speed, Star Lord." Then it turns everything blue and plays this warp cores engine background sound from Star Trek.
Just have fun with it and mess around until it does mostly what I want.
