The gps things you put on your keys are wonderful for this. They run for like 20-25 bucks. If you are really serious there are magnet mounted gps for the car or one of these that you plug right into the car and they show live feed exactly where the car is or been. Remember to move in silent because in the future this will be useful in court. At this point assume the worst and dont let emotions determine your future in a negative way. Wish you the best.
+1 for the Sync Up drive from T-Mobile. I've got one in all my cars and it works very well. I get alerts to my phone every time a car is started or turned off, notifications of hard stops, accelerations, or speed limit exceeded, alerts when it enters or exits a geofence, or if the vehicle has been disturbed while parked. In addition to real time location tracking of course.
Don't have T-Mobile? Verizon sells a similar device called the Hum. Or you can buy a standalone device on Amazon for about 70 bucks including a year of service.
Worried about a thief finding the device? You can get an OBD extension cable and tuck it up behind the dash trim. In actuality, most criminals are stupid and won't notice it. One of my cars was broken into shortly before I moved away and they missed the tracker and my dash cam, which was discreetly tucked up behind the rear view mirror.
You can also get a completely standalone tracker that isn't reliant on being plugged into the OBD port to operate and can be discreetly attached to or hidden within the vehicle. The downsides are the service runs about 25 bucks a month and since it's battery powered, it needs to be recharged about every two weeks.
Not necessarily true. We purchased this device a few years ago to keep track of my aging grandmother and we can see her location live
