I've had my Grand Trunk skeeter beeter pro for 7 years. Bug net is still intact despite snags on branches and gear. I paid close to $100 for it back then. Now you can find it on Amazon for $59.97. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AIFLX2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_8F3KQHMJYN76S25Q568W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Damn, do you think the Grand trunk Navy one is worth it at $68? https://www.amazon.com/Grand-Trunk-Skeeter-Beeter-Hammock/dp/B001AIFLX2/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1477930787&sr=8-1&keywords=Grand+Trunk+Skeeter+Beeter+Pro%3Cbr%20/%3E%20%3Cbr%20/%3E%20+Mosquito+Hammock&&linkCode=ll1&tag=...
It has a bug net, is it worth the extra cost?
I personally have the Grand Trunk Skeeter Beater Pro and a cheap hammock specific tarp all in my setup cost less than $100 US. I got the tarp on woot.com it's a yukon outfitters, but the noah's tarp is a good option too.
I use a Grand Trunk Double w/ net. Im going hunting in a couple of weeks up the Coq with it, its my goto for anything but winter camping.
I don't understand how the current generation of hammocks work. Can you provide a link to something that you would consider usable? Something like this?
I own a Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter Ultra Lite hammock. It holds up to 250lbs. and has a built in bug screen. I've taken it on 4 different over night hikes so far. Bought a tarp for over top and I use a self inflating sleeping pad inside. Also, I use a 20* down sleeping bag and have been comfortable down to 40* sleeping in just shorts and a t-shirt.
And oh yeah...its $63 on Amazon
For all of your hammock needs visit hammock forums
see also review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56qcozvOvfY but you will still need a tarp for rainy conditions and those will run you about $60-70 like the kelty noah's tarp for instance.
I got the skeeter beater pro by grand trunks. Only used it for camping once but I love it.
