Another vote for gelatin and subsequently collagen.
Great Lakes - Collagen/Gelatin here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Great-Lakes-Unflavored-Gelatin-Kosher/dp/B0008D6WBA/ref=pd_sim_0_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=0WJG67HCHTYK5P44570E
Heat 300g of frozen raspberries in lemon juice. Blend/process with 7 tablespoons of the gelatin. It takes your body a good while to digest, I add seeds etc and it makes a great slow burning breakfast - it's pretty versatile.
You'll see a green tin floating around that amazon page too. That one is a little more expensive but it dissolves nicely in water; if you can't be bothered with cooking up batches of jelly.
I supplemented gelatin whilst recovering from a broken back and I attribute a sizeable amount of credit for my successful recovery to it. I continued with it after recovering from injury and it does wonders for my knees, post endurance cycling!
Does of course come in capsules - thought it'd be useful for you to know your options.
It’s Great Lakes pure unflavored kosher beef. I got mine at my local Sprouts store but amazon has it here.
Yes, this is what I use, I also add powdered vitamin c and probiotic powder because why not make them healthier!
Gelatin is supposed to be good for joints. I just started today - hopefully it helps with my knee pain.
You can make homemade jello with it or just sprinkle it into your meals.
Not even silly. I get Great Lakes bulk gelatin from amazon - cheaper and much higher quality. I make it into gelatin blocks - I use 7 tbsp per cup and a half of water and add whatever flavor I want to use - I have made it with coffee and cream and Torani flavors - I have used Mio and I have used unsweetened coconut milk and lime juice with splenda. Right now I have to think of something new because my coconut ones are almost gone.
After I mix the gelatin with the water and let it melt I add the flavors and portion it into molds and let it set and portion it into 7 portions.
I have heard of people mixing it into their coffee or tea or broth. I guess you can also add it to a smoothie. if the liquid to gelatin ratio is higher than 1 tbsp to a cup it won't turn into jell-o consistency.
ELI5 gelatin sheets...I have Great Lakes Gelatin at home. Using the conversion, I need to use 250 mL... Right? I want to make this for my husband's birthday next week! It looks delicious!
Edit: Fixed formatting
Edit 2: Did some googling and found this source. So I need to figure out the equivalent measurement of mine to make 250 mL set. According to amazon link (earlier) in the important information section, "one tablespoon gels one pint of liquid." Using google to convert mL to pints, it seems I need roughly half a pint; so I'll use half a tablespoon (1.5 tsp). Does that sound right?
I finally sprung for an electric deep-fryer at home a year or so ago. Just like a small $20 model from Amazon. I used to do it occasionally just in a pot, but I really like having both a built-in basket & built-in temperature controls. I also discovered a really great technique to re-use the oil using unflavored Jello powder:
You can't do like fried fish & then do donuts lol, but it does let you re-use the oil, as deep-frying at home can get pretty pricey with food-grade oil prices these days. I get a pound of unflavored gelatin powder off Amazon & use it for cleaning oil: (as well as various other cooking projects, like stabilized whipped cream, homemade marshmallows, etc.!)
So glad I just found this post! Would this gelatin count?
A great trick I learned a couple years ago is using gelatin to stabilize whipping cream:
By using unflavored powdered gelatin, you can make whipped cream hold its shape for a few days, so if you want to pipe it onto cupcakes or something, it won't deflate! Note that you have to keep it in the fridge until ready to serve, because it only holds up for a couple of hours at room temperature.
You can buy small packs of unflavored gelatin powder in the baking aisle, usually by the boxes of Jello. I buy mine in bulk on Amazon: (16oz for $22 shipped)
Gelatin is one of those supporting ingredients that has oddly become a staple in my kitchen, just as much as salt or baking soda, which is why I opt to buy it in bulk online. I use it for all kinds of random purposes, such as re-using frying oil:

Anyway tmyk lol

This is what i was going to use for my gummies
This. But if you want to add protein, add this while it's blending. Drink it fast and lift hard, it's gross cold.
