Lift up the pot instead of fingering the soil. If it needs water it will feel unexpectedly light weight. Then pick it up again after you water and familiarize yourself with how much it weighs before and after watering. There should be a noticeable difference in weight. Also if you are giving any nutrients, lighten up on that, I normally give pHed water between feedings with soil too instead of nutrients every watering like you might do with a medium like coco.
Also clean up those leaves and get a saucer and riser under that plant so you can give it enough water to have some runoff. Something like this. You need to get some runoff coming from the pot when you water so you don't end up with a build-up of nutrient salts.
What's that humidifier black box you have in the center? Looks interesting. What model/brand? I might look into getting one. Only critique I can think of is that your stand-off might not hold the weight once your plant adds FIVE times the weight. You can get a Pot-Elevator from Amazon or they are like $2 each at your local hydroponics store. Also- one pot would probably fill the grow space if you let it. Looks like fun!
I'd get some little pot stands like this. Kinda pricey on Amazon, but my local grow store has them for about $2 each. Then you can just let the tray built into the tent catch the runoff and deal with it from there as you will (I suck it out with a wet vac). If you want to build your own tray with a tilt for draining everything you can, but beware anything that takes up too much vertical space in a tent, because you can run out of room in a hurry.
You can get a TDS meter super cheap, and since all they are really measuring is the electrical conductivity of the water, cheap ones are still accurate enough to suffice. Definitely worth it if you're using salt-based nutrients.
From Amazon, but they should only cost a few dollars if you can find them locally. The saucer is from Home Depot.
13 inch pot elevators I bought at my local grow shop for around $4 each. Here’s a link for the same thing but more expensive however I’m sure if you look you can find them cheaper than that Gro Pro NX Level Pot Elevator, 13 Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_EEVZR09AHJQ3YVK92MC6
Alright I’d still put more soil in there if you can. Or you can wait when your in veg and have room with your stem. (You can add more soil and roots will grow from the stem that you covered)
But look up some elevators or risers on amazon. This one is a little pricey but is what I got. You don’t absolutely need them but they allow for better drainage at the bottom.
They’re called “pot elevators”(no pun intended). Don’t buy them from Amazon, they’re ridiculously expensive there. I get them from my local grow shop for only a couple bucks each.
Hmm it would be hard to dump out the runoff or measure the amount with gravel. Thinking about something more like this https://www.amazon.com/Gro-Pro-Level-Pot-Elevator/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=sr\_1\_4?keywords=pot%2Belevator&qid=1638413752&s=lawn-garden&sr=1-4&th=1
Put them up on plant elevators then you can water more with less worry. https://www.amazon.ca/Gro-Pro-725675-Level-Elevator/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=asc_df_B01J37FHF8/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292908056298&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4043567550270731861&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hv...
I'm using this plant riser along with a tray for the water. That said I got mine from a local hydro store, it was about $2 as opposed to what Amazon wants
Thanks! That's actually my little veg tent i keep in my bedroom currently occupied by some purple autos as I just moved my photo plants into the flower tent. Here is an amazon link for some risers, but i actually got mine from a local hydro store which is why i think i remember getting them a little cheaper. Also make sure your riser is smaller or same size as saucer, I've made that mistake buying too big before. Smaller risers also work fine in larger saucers so you never have any runoff going down the side.
I would never do 4 in here. At least not in 5 gallon pots. 3 is really tight, but these girls stayed tiny this round. Sort of a blessing in disguise compared to last round hahaha
I got the plant risers from somewhere other than amazon, but here is a link to some that are 13 inches and would work perfect with the 12 inch wide 5 gallon pots! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_pxA2FbAVJTTYX?psc=1
This but it is super expensive on amazon compared to a local grow store of mine. I would check if you have any local stores. I got mine for $2.85 per elevator.
These weren't as expensive a few weeks ago when I bought them but they seem to do a great job with plastic saucers under them. Sorry I don't know how to insert a nice a neat hyperlink lol https://www.amazon.com/Gro-Pro-Level-Pot-Elevator/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=pd_bap_m_rp_2/131-3412791-5267964?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01J37FHF8&pd_rd_r=17e3d60f-92be-498e-8ca9-1abcb15dba85&pd_rd_w=be8Z2&pd_rd_wg=Xp0YT&pf_rd_p=4f81e72e-...
I use plant stands designed for cloth pots that allow the bottom of the pot to drain and stops the pot from wicking up any standing water.
You can also use baker's racks or something similar.
Same product, 2nd link is much cheaper but doesn’t include free shipping/longer shipping time.
Get one of these from your local hydro store for $3: https://www.amazon.com/Gro-Pro-Level-Pot-Elevator/dp/B01J37FHF8
I’m using fabric pot elevators. Helps reduce root rot and mold issues since the pot isn’t sitting in the excess water.
Square or circular? I use these https://www.amazon.com/Gro-Pro-Level-Pot-Elevator/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=plant%2Brisers&qid=1615489343&sr=8-5&th=1&psc=1

Pot Elevator on Amazon
I really like these:
They're cheaper other places than amazon.
The runoff trays are from a local garden store, they're just regular pot holders. The pot elevators I got on Amazon. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mTqjCb4Q0AV2A
I would recommend pot risers. Will lift them off the ground to allow for air flow. I bought these ones on Amazon just to give you an idea of what they look like:
The riser stands are on amazon, I recommend getting the saucer to catch run off.
Edit: Link https://www.amazon.ca/Gro-Pro-725675-Level-Elevator/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=plant%2Briser&qid=1575226604&sr=8-2&th=1&psc=1
Speaking as a verified idiot, I gotta say that cloth pots are way more idiot proof than plastic pots. It's much harder to over-water a cloth pot. It's about impossible for a plant become root-bound in a cloth pot. I reuse my cloth pots by washing them in the clothes washer with white vinegar. I use pot elevators and saucers to collect run off. I use a bucket vac to remove run off.
Gro-Pro NX Level Pot Elevators
These Amazon prices are nuts, I bought them locally for like $6 a piece.
Yeah I got it off Amazon here you’ll just need a tray and you’ll be set. I suck out the run off with a Shopvac with a straw taped to the end so I can get to the bottom of the pan. It works 🤷🏼♂️
If you go on Amazon they have plant stands and drain trays of all sizes.
Like this: Gro Pro NX Level Pot Elevator, 13 Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_1545NAHX1XR9H8SKB7AS
Oh shit lol no wonder. Yeah man get yourself a fabric pot and one of these plant elevators and you’ll never really overwater it unless you try extremely hard to do so
Gro Pro NX Level Pot Elevator, 13... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J37FHF8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Sorry that took so long! I used that and a 13" black saucer
Looks awesome. The risers are nice but you end up watering more, for better or worse. Cheaper to get from a local grow store. Comes in many sizes
Get it up off the floor! So your pot can do what it’s designed to do.

I got them on Amazon. Here’s the link
Here is where I got mine. A bit overpriced in my opinion, but I only needed one.
I believe these
Use these in plant trays. They are only a few bucks a piece if you shop around
Got em at a local hydro store but they're on Amazon also
Got em at local hydro store but pretty sure I saw these on Amazon just before that look identical:
if your fabric pot is on one of these they kinda are... https://www.amazon.com/Gro-Pro-Level-Pot-Elevator/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=sr_1_3
Gro Pro 725675 NX Level Pot Elevator, 13" https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01J37FHF8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_flyEDbT94QBWN
It's what i use. Highly recommend vs those racks.
Looks good but you really need to buy these for your next grow.
You don't want the plant reabsorbing its runoff.
