Hi, I posted some pictures but they didn't show. I am using the Viparspectra 2020 Pro P1000. After looking at a few, pricewise for the power, this was the best imo. The dimmer is also great to have. They have a 20% off coupon on amazon and you can put an additional coupon (can find it if u want it) which makes them go from $100 to $70.
Are you conflicted?
Giving a cm measurement with a USD currency amount 😂
1 - don't cheap out on your light. For a few $$ more you can get a significantly better light, like this one.
2- I'd do 1 plant in a 3 or 5 gallon fabric or air pot. Train it and you should yield around 4 oz. I've gotten as high as 7... but 4 oz is normal
Your tent and fan will be fine. With cheap tents, expect pinhole light leaks, especially around the zippers, and expect the zippers to be clunky. Cheap carbon filters may not last long. If you live in prohibition land, don't cheap out on your carbon filter. Also keep in mind, you only need the filter from like week 2 of flower until harvest/dry.
This Vipar spectra P-1000 is great for the price, the xs1000 is a little better but, 119.00
If you scroll down to the section with all of the images, look at the PPFD map. It shows that the middle of the tent gets the vast majority of the light with only 1 in the tent. The corners get less than 10% the intensity compared to the middle. I think for a 4x4 you'd want at least 2 of these. I run 4x2's with 2 plants each, 1 light above each plant. I like the viparspecta P1000 personally, they're dimmable and you can get 2 for less money.

I use this, I didn't turn the knob to 100% on the light though so maybe that's why they were leggy?

the cheapest option for me in that video is the viparspectra p1000 and I'd need 3... you're asking me to spend as much on light as my entire current list
Holy shit your not kidding. This advertises 1000 ppfd at only 100 watt usage.
Thank you buy the way for feeding me this. So from what I'm reading even at only a 250 W. equiv. that LED above performs better then the 400 W. equiv I'm using? Sorry it's just that blows me away.
What brand led do you use and would you recommend it? I'm going to go back to that search I know a few names were dropped in the threads I read. Looks like I'm getting a new light. Sigh just got these too, guess I have to find some more space to setup another area.
Sure! The thing that really changed the game for me was better grow lights. On the left, it was under the Barrina lights from Amazon that I heard about on this sub. Unfortunately, they didn’t work for me as well as they did for others. So I got some of these grow lights (we live under a bunch of trees so I can’t keep them outside or in any windows). Basically, light! As much light as you can possibly have. Just make sure you acclimate them first.

I use this one for just my one plant. It’s close to your budget (on the higher end) it use to be 20-30% for prime but now it’s 15%. I’d google this light and try to find the original deal somewhere. It’s done wonders for me (check my post for proof) I have a $15 one also in my tent but I don’t think it actually helps, I just keep it for the lil extra heat. But the one I linked is dim-able and I have never had to put it above 75% power.

Thank you for the information.
That's amazing, 6 plants and a S4 is sufficient. Okay, I might go with the S4.
I'm thinking of replacing my lights as well. The VIPARSPECTRA P1000 is on sale on Amazon for $80. Do you have any thoughts on this light? https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B083JVXHF6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_luwpFbN7FFK9T
Similar situation. I bought a cheap Blurple amazon light. Hated it. Just upgraded to a Viparspectra P1000 LED Sturdier than a Mars, less expensive than a Spider Farmer. Liked it so much I just bought a second one for my 4x4.

If you're going to buy from Amazon even Viparspectra are doing QB style fixtures at under $300 now. I imagine these would be similar to Mars TS and Spider Farmer SF but not quite as good as HLG.

I used two of these on my 4x4 and it gave me pretty solid yields and some really potent buds. i recommend these as it’s still budget friendly. Grow Light, VIPARSPECTRA Newest... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083JVXHF6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I ended up ordering this one and I think I made a decent choice. 👍
The p1000s are on sale right now for a really good price on Amazon for $58 a piece.

Please get some proper grow lights asap. Those bulbs will not provide the right spectrums and it will die.
Cheaper option https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083JVXHF6/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_38579MN7FAA8BD6T1MJ0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Better option https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083JVVZSM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
this is from the manufacturer answered questions under the light you sent me. "True watts 205" but the real point is, blurple lights are extremely inefficient, hot, and loud. They will get the job done for a small grow like yours but they're definitely not the best option for your money. For a small grow like yours the best bet would be a small 100w qb (quantum board) style light. That would be the best bang for your buck so to speak.
This is a little more pricey but best quality https://www.amazon.com/Horticulture-Lighting-Group-High-Efficiency-Upgraded/dp/B076QDKVDZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_14?crid=33GQ4EL2UP5HS&keywords=100w+quantum+board&qid=1649536716&sprefix=100w+q%2Caps%2C113&sr=8-14
That light will be on the underwhelming end of "works" for flowering cannabis in a 2x2'. It would probably work well for growing kitchen herbs or lettuce, but cannabis needs a lot of light when flowering, so it would be worth upgrading later. A newer light from the same company would likely do better, it's only $10 more ($90) but the newer tech is much more efficient than the older purple-ish ("blurple") lights. Other light companies also have better offerings, including with that budget.
I previously owned their "450W", the next model up from what you have, but replaced it within a few weeks because it stopped working. Even 3 years ago it felt like it was obsolete tech.
Also, not what you're asking about, but NCH is a good one. :)
Ok no worries. I would look for a 100-150W ACTUAL draw light. Ideally with a dimmable function. Something like vipraspectra, unit farm, bloom plus. Should be many options under $100. Read reviews and pay attention to the Amazon listing for actual specs. Here’s a few (Canadian) examples

If budget is your main concern, you can get a much higher yield for a lower price by just getting basic off-the-shelf lights and ventilation and a $5-10 timer from the hardware store instead of spending all the extra money on stuff like sensors, control board, and the extra markup of buying it from a secondary retailer like SGL. It's definitely a cool little kit but it's more experimental than a great value in yield per dollar.
You can get a pretty decent quality 100W LED with driver for like $60-80 if you pick the right one. But there are also many crap ones out there trying to look the same but using much lower end parts. The good ones could cover up to a 2'x2' area cabinet, but you could easily go smaller by dimming it down.
This Viparspectra P1000 is a great value and on sale for $60 right now. Their VS1000 uses top end parts for $72 after coupon. The MAXSISUN PB1000 is $63. These or other similar lights could easily yield a quarter pound in a 2x2 with a moderately experienced grower
You could go with a kitchen hood or air purifier filter like SGL does, or use one of many tutorials out there to make a more effective DIY mini carbon filter for around $20 or less. Either should work with a 120V AC fan like this one for $18 or if you had a taller cabinet or tent with more space and wanted an off-the-shelf carbon filter and higher powered fan kit you could go with something like this which is actually much more powerful than you'd need for a little 2x2 or less area. You can get a decent timer for only 10 bucks or less
You can do a light/ventilation/timer setup for a little over a hundred bucks instead of the $350 that SGL wants, if you don't care about the extra monitoring and automation stuff. You'd still need things like pots, soil, and fertilizer, but that would be along the lines of like $20 for a single run or like $40 for 10 runs worth. Thermometer/hygrometer for $10 and if you wanted a mini tent instead of a cabinet it would be $60-90 but otherwise you'd have to still buy a cabinet or something.
Full all in you're looking at maybe $200 that if you do even a halfway decent run would pay for itself either the first time or definitely by the second one.
p1000 light It’s 75 dollars but there’s a 15 dollar off coupon on Amazon.
I have this and it works well for my 20 small/medium sized plants.

I use this grow light for 12 hours daily on a wire shelf
Awesome, thank you! Do you see anything wrong with this light? Heard somebody say they recommend this over a Mars hydro. Not sure why.
hey thanks, i saw these around on amazon but didnt really know much about them, i did a quick search and found one i think is decent, what do you think? would this work well with my tent? https://www.amazon.ca/VIPARSPECTRA-Adjustable-Upgraded-Spectrum-Hydroponic/dp/B083JVXHF6 135 canadian dollars

The viparspectra p1000 is the same price. It has been rated pretty well and the Migro LED YT channel has tested the new p series with good results.
Well it's definitely not a bad light but I think you can do better at that price range.
