You don't really need an "investment" in smart bulbs. I have something very similar to this in my 700 sq. ft. apartment. I paid about $30 for mine. My only windows are North-facing, so it's not ideal plant lighting, and I have no patio or outdoor space. We have a few plants on the windowsill, but the rest are grouped in a corner of the living room under the lamp referenced above. It came not just with a timer but a remote! You can set it for 4, 8, or 12 hours per day. I have it set to come on at 7AM for 12 hours. We are planning to get a 2nd one for the bedroom and group plants under it there. 7AM to 7PM doesn't interrupt our sleep since we wake up before 7AM for work. If the timer somehow fails, you can keep the remote by the bed to shut it off at bedtime. (My spouse is 100% in favor of all of this. We planned it together.)
I have the same issue! Basically I put grow lights (just regular GE grow light full spectrum bulbs from Home Depot or Amazon) in pendant lamps with a shade. You can also get a lamp that angles, like a desk lamp or a standing lamp with bendable arms, and shine it toward plants. I see a lot of folks with lamps like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sunlight-GHodec-Four-Head-Growing-Dimmable/dp/B081CWHKPG/ref=sr\_1\_7?crid=1CA0MSQLBCDWD&keywords=grow+light+standing&qid=1653621166&sprefix=grow+light+stand%2Caps%2C574&sr=8-7
Will this be ok?

i use the Barrina T5’s for the majority and i also have a couple cheaper stands from amazon that work great for my bigger plants. stands and i mostly use fox farm fertilizers, i really like grow big and big bloom! i also use MSU’s orchid fertilizer sometimes but not nearly as often as the other two. i used to use liqui dirt but i feel like everything got much healthier when i switched to grow big and it’s pretty similar but seems to work better maybe bc grow big has a lot of fish emulsions (but it doesn’t smell at all).
Usually the leggyness is also from lack of sunlight, so it sounds like that might be your biggest obstacle if your house doesn't get great natural light. Maybe try a grow light? They don't have to be big and ugly. There are also some plants that do better in low light, like the snake plants OP has or maybe a peace lilly.
I'm new to the plant thing and learning as I go. r/plantclinic is gold.

It's cheaper than 50 dollars :D
Yellow white. I got mine off Amazon. Just a regular ole stand up light with 4 stretching arms.

not at all! it’s this one
>Also highly recommend considering BR30 or par38 bulbs
Ty - good thinking.
Pendant style is not an option.
For the spaghetti monster... kinda - but either i keep using the wrong keywords or it doesn't exist. E.g. somethign like this: https://www.amazon.com/Sunlight-GHodec-Four-Head-Growing-Dimmable/dp/B081CWHKPG/ref=sr_1_16?crid=1A4OM3NK5MXV4&keywords=indoor+houseplant+light&qid=1640196316&sprefix=indoor+houseplant+light%2Caps%2C100&sr=8-16
But with bases that will take a E26 (or as you mentioned BR30/Par38).
Ty for the response.

These are my favorites because you can adjust the height. I have lots of little plants on wire shelves as well as pots, and these are easy to use for both (which is great for me because I change my mind often.) I have 4 of them now. All work GREAT! No problems.

I got these but I'm not crazy about them because I wanted them under my counters, but then decided I was sacrificing too much counter space so moved the plants. They're screwed into the cabinet, and now I occasionally use them as additional kitchen lights. The herbs I had did well while they were there, though.

These are also great, but I actually use them in my lab for my research, which is not on plants. I use them to release polymers that are grown on a surface, and I measure the intensity weekly. They're very consistent and have remained that way for the 3 months I've had them.

I just got these. They're difficult to get just how you want them, and I haven't had them long enough to really comment on them, but I love the look. I've had tuberose that I just planted beneath them, and one of them has gone from 1" to 8" since November 3. The other is still struggling, but they're in different rooms, one of which is consistently about 5 F colder. (60 vs 65 F)
I can't find my all time favorites in my Amazon history right now (possibly due to the AWS outage) but they also don't have the timer, which is why I haven't bought more. I use my old aquarium timer with them, and I've had them for around 3 years and they still work great. They've brought back plants from the dead. But they were the first ones I bought, and the others just haven't had the time to prove themselves yet. So far I haven't had any duds though.
ok, I can see some spider nests, could they be the issue? I don't think there are spider mites. I saw them on other plants before but I don't think here is the case. But if there is any infestation, what is the best solution? is there any kind of chemical we can apply to the plant to get rid of it?
I'm thinking of buying something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Sunlight-GHodec-Four-Head-Growing-Dimmable/dp/B081CWHKPG/ref=sr_1_9?crid=3NB6NDUM915K6&dchild=1&keywords=plant+growth+light&qid=1629752368&sprefix=plant+growth+%2Caps%2C297&sr=8-9
to make up for the light. I'm worried that in winter it gets less sun light than now. The room is well lit-up from morning to sunset, but it gets direct sun light for maybe 4,5 hours a day (afternoon until sun set)
