Home now - can type a bit more. I would recommend using this:
You can see all the best options there. If you don't have an Ikea within a few hours of you, let me know - if you have an Ikea within ~3 hours of you, its worth the drive to get the stuff.
My desk is a 5ft wide Linnmon top, with Lerberg legs - it was $70. $50 for the two black and white shelves, and $25 for the 5 small wood shelves.
Fair warning, if you dont have weight on top of the desk, it may be wobbly - my monitors are pretty heavy and seem to stabilize everything. Works for me, may not work for you. I can work and game here fine.
From a budget standpoint - i think its important to spend more $$$ on your chair, if your chair sucks - why are you going to want to sit at your swanky desk. but again - that all depends on your budget, there are good fits for all budgets.
Personally speaking, I used a version of this chair for 3 years at my last office -- [link]
It was very comfy - but there maybe better options.
The chair in the photo is a Haworth chair of some sort, cant find and name or serial at the moment. I've used this high back haworth, a herman miller aeron, and that ikea chair - truth be told, I liked the aeron the least. I still have the aeron (believe it or not, my dad found that in the trash with a broken arm as well, called them and they replaced it no questions asked - crazy good customer service) but the compressed air cyclinder that make its go up and down is busted and its out of warranty now (its almost 15 years old.) Its held up great otherwise, but its not high enough for me now, i sit too low. (plus it would make my legs fall asleep sometimes... i dunno, I would pass on that chair tbh.)
If you can find one - i'd highly recommend a haworth, this one is amazing. great quality. (looks like they are around 400ish new, maybe used office furniture somwhere? check thrifts, lots of placing closing down, sadly - may luck up.) Arms only broke on this because some schmuck slammed it into a desk one to many times and ripped the foam off - but I prefer my chairs without arms, so works just dandy for me.
Id look to spend around 200 for a good chair if possible. your back and butt will thank you. Go for something with a mesh back: [link]
Or if you want a #gamer chair - heres this: [link]
Good luck friend.
