Okay so I had roaches in my apartment and I swear by boric acid! Just put it in all the corners dark crevices. What happens is that they crawl over it and carry it back to their nest and it kills them by drying them out. My apartment is completely roach free now. It does take a little bit of time but it works! You just need a light dusting . https://www.amazon.com/Harris-Boric-Silverfish-Killer-Powder/dp/B0026MD0G6
idk but I had the same roblem and I got rid of them with boric acid ant killer. It's like $4 at hardware stores. Put it along edges of things like baseboards of the parts of furniture that touches the wall. Also sinks and windows sills. They like water.
If you get the powder on your hands, don't add water, it'll burn the top layer of skin off. (Like Fight Club.) Pour liquid soap over all of the powder on your skin first and lather it up, then rinse with water. You need the soap to be a barrier between the powder, your skin, and the water.
>Properly applied, you wouldn’t be able to see it. If you have a visible line, you didn’t apply it correctly. Properly applied and kept dry it will last a long time.
huh, that's odd. Our powder is pretty coarse so even a spec would be visible. Is it supposed to be fine like salt or sand? Maybe some water got in or something... shit. I read that if boric acid is too heavily applied roaches will go around it, but it's not caked up and it is covering the length of the space in front of the glass door so I imagine they're still going through it?
>The real problem here is that boric acid dust is horribly slow acting. Boric acid based baits are much more effective. Other baits with synthetic actives are even more effective. Combinations of non-repellent residual insecticides, baits, sealing entry points (holes in walls, around pipes, wires, etc.) and vacuuming are even better than that.
I purchased the baited kind :) This one to be exact. Am I misspeaking? Is baited and 'lure' the same for this?

> Ps. If your complex didn’t respond after your reporting. They aren’t gonna do anything about this in the future either. Likely you will be solving this yourself.
Maybe I can use it to negotiate rent at least. We keep this apartment pretty clean but I see the roaches come in through the vents (right next to the door outside) and squeeze through the sliding door (coming up between the deck from the neighbors).
But the container we bought is pretty small so I was just coming to see if I need to put fresh powder down every week or month or whatever. I could probably ask on amazon but I thought this sub might be better turnaround for an answer. I've had good luck with subs before for random things.
hell yes. have you tried this: https://www.amazon.com/Harris-Boric-Acid-Roach-Powder/dp/B0026MD0G6/ref=sr_1_2?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1504127589&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=boric+acid&psc=1
??
I know where they are coming from (below the sink/counters), and think this is exactly what I need.
I use Harris Boric Acid Roach Powder with Lure. Ordered from Amazon. Doesn't say it's for ants and company says the lure does not attract them. I added a bit of powdered sugar to the container.
BTW-- On sale right now on Amazon with same-day delivery in my area!

NOTE: this is mildly poisonous to humans and pets so for outdoor use or somewhere kids and pets can't get it! (Like under the fridge.)

Get the powder, not tablets. Something like this
A friend recommended Harris. I bought the pellet kind to toss into areas that I cant reach or leave them on counter.

Works great.
You can blow boric acid powder or diamataceous earth (DE) into the gaps. Wear a mask while you do it because you don't want to breathe them in. Both will last forever as long as they don't get wet.
Try boric acid, its a slow killing powder that roaches will take back to their dwelling and spread it amongst the rest, I've used it before and has worked well for me.

I just remembered why I asked dog breed. You don't believe he would actually "eat" a dead rat, do you? I mean... play with it, maybe, but not eat it, right? I'd start putting rat bait in places he could never get to. Ever. Attic, in the backs of food pantries and closets. Just someplace where he could never get. And then put a lot of it out. The bait, once eaten will make the dying rats thirsty, so put down 5 gallon buckets of water that are only about 2/3rds full. The rats will trying to lean in to get a drink, and then will fall on in. They try to swim until they are too exhausted and then just drown. The rat poison will kill for more than just one generation (kills the rat, then the creature that eats it), so it is critical to know if your dog is the type that would eat something like that. Mine would not. Flip side, I've had dogs get into the poison (after we threw it into the trash, and then I have one garage shopper)... you can get your vet to give you a vitamin K regimen to give your dog, after eating something like that. I keep it on hand, because I am about 120 miles from the nearest emergency vet. But it cancels out the effect of the warfarin type rat poisons.
On the roaches. A bug bomb every few months will allow for several generations of roaches to hatch, and contaminate everything for between months. One of the best things to do is to put boric acid under your fridge, you might sprinkle some into each drawer and cupboard in your pantry, under your microwave and so on. It takes about a month to start working, but once you get them all cleared out, it lasts for years. Under your sink... and also into your carpet. Sweep it down into it, and then vacuum up the residuals. They also make it in chalk stick type form, which you can use under tables (dining, coffee tables, end tables etc.), and you can get the paste form of it to squeeze along the edge of your counters, and under them, and so on. But it will continuously kill off your roaches.
