Matt Emerson reflects on the day between the crucifixion and the resurrection—a day which echoes the darkness, the uncertainty, and the fear of living through the in-between times—a day echoes not only in our lives today but throughout the whole of scripture.
This article actually began, many years ago, as a series of tweets. It was then combined and reformed into various blog posts, including Emerson's own blog. (I chose the TGC version over Emerson's own blog out of respect for our brothers and sisters here who want to avoid depictions of Christ.)
For those interested in some of the theology behind Holy Saturday, Emerson is also the author of the 2019 book ”He Descended to the Dead": An Evangelical Theology of Holy Saturday.
