For sure. I found it on Amazon, I think based on a recommendation from here. This is it! The cold feels great, but even once it goes room temp, the pressure alone is really soothing. If I pull it down to just above my eyes, two of the sections sit right on my temples and it feels amazing. I wish I could sleep in it but I’m paranoid about the weight of my head busting one of the sections open! I used to put frozen peas on my head too and this is SO MUCH better.
Store it in Tupperware, though - it’ll smell like your fridge if you don’t!
I bought two of these, they’re pretty good and I just alternate them so I always have a cold one to use. You can also pull this one down further to cover your eyes when light is irritating. This has worked way better than any medicine I’ve tried over the past 2 years: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DG2Z1NH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_Gdr1FbAY869SJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I’m so sorry. I hope you get answers soon. My only suggestion is to get a migraine ice head wrap. Like this - Headache and Migraine Relief Cap... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DG2Z1NH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

here is the one I got. I will say, it creates quite a bit of pressure on the head, and the ice packs “push” into the areas of the skull where they’re at. I think it is designed this way so that you can arrange it to push ice on those painful pressure points. I like it, but wanted to give that warning bc I’m not sure everyone likes that pressure feeling.
I do like it, but if I have a migraine coming on, I have to use transparency mode instead of noise canceling. What I can do is use AirPods and a hat that comes down over my ears to give some extra muffling. I have one of these and it has places for cooling packs, which also help.
I can’t live without it. When I wake up with the pain, I get the hat and crawl back into bed and sleep a little more and when I wake up it’s at least a 75% reduction. It looks so stupid on but it’s holy grail for me.
I learned from TMJ setting off trigeminal pain to heat and ice at the same time and rotate. So I’ll have the headache hat on and the shoulder heating pad. And then switch to one of those microwaveable heat packs on my head and a neck ice pack. For some reason the ice and heat at the same time confuses the nerves and can shut them off. I’d say half the time it works for me and the pain ends and I am just left with the “hangover” of the episode. As long as I have one on the occipital and one on the trap trigger point it seems to stunt it.
This is the hat I have.

Yes, migraines are not only head-related. Maybe google some info on menses and migraines and try the cold shower thing - even if it’s only on that scull area - cold-hot-cold etc. But also, you coyld do the same on your lower abdomen: cold-hot-cold several times during menses / migraine… it can help kind of numb the area. It can be helpful with just gut pain and muscle pain too.
If you do a whole body shower, you can always start it normal temp and end it cold for a minute or two. Your body will build up tolerance to it over time. And you’ll probably notice you feel more focused and energized afterwards, even if only briefly. It can be a good time to get productive things done.
The naturopath is a guy in Australia. I live in Australia. He was a friend of a friend I met on Christmas Eve. I only know that his first name is Martin and he lives in Mooloolaba, Australia.
I did a little quick search and found a cold cap for migraines on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com.au/Headache-Migraine-Relief-Cap-comfortable/dp/B07DG2Z1NH
Seems to have good reviews and I guess it’s a similar concept to what the naturopath was telling me.
In general, if it’s affordable, I’d recommend looking for a naturopath you could work with. Research them and ask if they understand the health symptoms you experience (especially yhe migraines bit)… but if not, just google naturopathic information online.
I have learned a lot from my own naturopath, although I feel like she let me down in other ways. Just as GPs have. I mainly find a lot of information from internet searches and health summits (online interview series with holistic and alternative and medical health professionals about gut health, immune health, supplements etc.)
I’m glad some of what I shared feels useful to you. I hope you experience some benefit from the information, and/or can take it to your own health team for them to support you further. 🙂
This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DG2Z1NH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_D53W78M8CZGCXHMGKPD1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
it’s kind of expensive, but it’s been worth it for the amount of use I get out of it. I think there are other brands and types though so worth looking at prices and reviews if you want to search ‘headache hat’ on Google or Amazon.
They’re basically a stretchy hat with ice packs throughout, but it’s the only thing I’ve found that offers instant relief across my entire head from migraine pain, and sometimes the only thing that allows me to fall asleep if I have a migraine. Hope it helps!
Have you tried ice packs? Cold really seems to help me sometimes and this ice pack hat also provides some pressure which also helps.

There’s one that has a band that you could tighten as well, and I’m considering that one too.
Ah shoot, these ones but they're not in stock anymore.
They're lightweight, but if you can't tolerate pressure it might not be for you. It might be worth ordering one and trying, and just returning it if you don't like it though.
Yeah like that! I haven’t tried that specific one, I use this one and it’s awesome. But before you get one try icing your head when you have a migraine, for some people ice doesn’t help
I use this. It looks silly but it works really well for me

I do. I think lots of folks here use this purpose built ice pack hat. I just use an athletic ice pack and wrap it around my head. I only resort to this on day 3 of a migraine when the triptans don't work anymore. I also get temporary relief from drinking very cold water.
I've had this cap for a little over a year now. I highly recommend it. It only takes a few minutes for the ice packs to mold to your head; yet it stays cold for a long time. It's not unbearably cold when directly on the skin. It's comfortable enough that I can easily fall asleep wearing it. And it stays put. I've never had it slip off.
Eta: I think I misunderstood what you meant by instant cold packs. But I stand by my recommendation for the cap.
So I went to the eye doctor and he took a picture of the back of my eye which showed a general increase of pressure and then I saw a neuro ophthalmologist from there who had like a special device that could measure the size of my optic nerve. I think if you go to any reputable eye doctor and tell them what’s going on they’ll be able to determine what tests to run. I got my headache hat off Amazon. I assume any brand will work but I like this one because it has two ice packs that hit right over my eyes- Headache and Migraine Relief Cap - A Headache Ice Mask or Hat Used for Migraines and Tension Headache Relief. I take generic Excedrin for headaches and it works pretty well for me. It’s a combination of aspirin, acetaminophen and caffeine. Have her check with the doctor and see if it is safe for her to try that.
I also use cold packs for headache relief. I used to get migraines before I started treatment but the hormone suppression has curbed them substantially. I have seen this on Amazon and it looks amazing:

Why don’t you try a ice cap it’s meant for migraine sufferers I’ve used it before when I was constantly stiff and had terrible headaches. I was also taking Advil or Tylenol but sometimes it wouldn’t work and plus I hate taking meds. Anyway here is link to the one I have: Headache and Migraine Relief Cap - A Headache Ice Mask or Hat Used for Migraines and Tension Headache Relief. I suffered from migraines through most of my life but especially during the late 1st-2nd trimesters. I did get prescribed a variety of painkillers from my OB - I had to try a couple different combinations to see what worked best for me. Before pregnancy the only thing that helped was Excedrin. Since I couldn’t take that, I found the most helpful combo was butalbital-acetaminophen-caffeine + baby aspirin per my OB’s directions. This wasn’t something I took often just to be safe.
Other things that helped: - Tiger Balm/Icy Hot/BenGay on my head where the pain was (temples and back of head) - This migraine hat is a lifesaver!! I would alternate between cold and hot such as super hot showers or heating pad - Black out curtains to make sure the bedroom was pitch black when I was laying down
Amazon! Here's a link to the one I have. I like to have two so I can rotate them when one gets warm.
I have a bunch on my wishlist, but I just found this one. I also like an ice pack in the back as well!
this is the one I use, and it’s worked great for me

I can recommend this one.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DG2Z1NH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
It's the only type of "migraine hat" (as I call them) that I've tried. It has really helped me. On occasion it will even stop a migraine in its tracks before it takes hold. I put my migraine hat on my head, an ice pack on the back of the neck, a heating pad on the stomach and I am off to the races.
The cap is designed so that you can pull it down over your eyes, which I find very helpful as I get a lot of pain there. But I do often wear it after the ice has warmed up because the cap is snug enough to give provide a slight pressure that also gives me some relief.
The only thing to say is that the ice warms up rather quickly, probably because the packs are flush against your skin continuously. Your post has reminded me that I've been meaning to order a second one for this reason, so I just did.
Good luck!
Take rizatriptan and excederin migraine
drink a monster (rehab kind if I can get it)
grab my headache hat I got on Amazon
listen to this in headphones
drink plenty of water

My stroke was caused by my migraines. I have head pain daily now. Including thunderclap/ice pick headaches. Sometimes the pain is so sudden and intense, it drops me to the floor and I'm in tears. Luckily, it's short. But sometimes there's lingering after pain.
Does her pain appear to be sudden and short (less than 2 minutes for the severe pain)? Does this describe what she might be experiencing? Migraines can manifest themselves in different ways after a stroke, including as those types of headaches. I'd ask her neurologist about possible migraine treatments. Unfortunately, most migraine preventatives have strokes as a side effect, so doctors don't often prescribe them.
At home, I'd recommend keeping her hydrated. Drinking ice water all day helps me a little. And ice packs when the daily pain gets too bad. They make ice pack helmets that were very useful when I was bed bound. My strokes (I had 2) happened June 2018. It, unfortunately, has not gotten better for me.
I sincerely hope they get better for her. Good luck.
I have a headache more or less every day. I get by with excedrin. I try to drink lots of cold water. I have an ice pack compression hat

These helmet ones are good too. I've got 4 of them so I can make sure I always have a cold one, even if I forget to put them away.
I have this one and love it. I use it for the compression/pressure it gives and the dark it provides, the cold makes my migraines worse.

If I'm having a really bad day, I cycle through 3 of them so I'm always wearing a cold one.
One day when it was real bad, it searched Amazon for “ice helmet” an lo and behold :ice helmet
I have this same cap and it's extremely helpful! Feels so good to have ice surrounding my head during a migraine.

This headache hat might be worth checking out! I actually just bought it and haven't used it yet... it's currently sitting in my freezer waiting for the inevitable next headache.

I am so sorry you're all going through this. It is so disheartening to hear that none of these doctors are willing to help her. There's so many new treatment options that have worked wonders for a lot of migraine sufferers. Have they said why they won't do it? Is she seeing a neurologist?
One of my biggest fears of having kids is not being able to "be around" for them because of migraines, so it breaks my heart to hear she's missing out on quality time with your daughter, and I'm sure with you as well. It's hard to recommend things without knowing what she's already tried, but I can offer a few suggestions.
Has she tried botox? If that's something her doctor isn't doing, I'd say to call around and find a doc who will do it, OR just pay for it out of pocket. You can do the botox injections without a neurologist, it just helps to have a neurologist so you can go through insurance. It's expensive without insurance, but if it's something that'll give your wife her life back, it may be worth it. Just make sure whoever doing the injections is qualified in knowing where to inject for migraine management. The downside to botox is it doesn't work for everyone and it can take months to see results. I started in January and didn't see results until May.
Look into taking supplements like magnesium and riboflavin. Have her journal everything she's eating to see if there's a food link. A lot of my migraines start in my neck, so I get massages a couple of times a month to help with tension buildup.
A couple of Amazon products I'd recommend for pain management - an ice hat (get a couple if you can so you can rotate them) and an accupressure mat (if she has neck/back pain associated with them).
A lot of people have replied to my post with suggestions that have worked for them or other family members, so please read through those and I'm sure they'd be willing to help answer questions for you. The new CGRP inhibitors are doing incredible things for people and I really hope you're able to find a doc who is willing to give these drugs a shot. Don't give up!
