I would counsel to make your exercise be playtime. Find what you enjoy for fun and let play elevate your metabolism.
My suggestion would be to get a bicycle and start using it for transportation. I had to ride a bicycle to school year round as a kid, and it developed a lifelong relationship with two wheeled travel. it's joy, not work.
I would also recommend getting a copy of Body for Life. Libraries have multiple copies, and you can get a used one for $4 on Amazon or other. Inspirational and instructional; I refer to it every couple of years to get my mojo back.
Also, read "Heft on Wheels" by Mike Magnuson, if you can find it. Great transformation success story and a fun read.
Change the stem and/or go to something like a Bosco Bar. I have this bar on my Troll, and love it to death. Also, consider a wider saddle. And finally, if you are riding for weight loss, read Heft on Wheels. I found that book inspiring for my 45lb loss (nearly 1/4 of my body weight).
Good luck!
Some inspiration.
