look into the dedicated french press style milk frothers (as opposed to an actual french press) they tend to have less parts
I have this one and it's really only 2 parts to clean, and I get acceptable results out of it. since it's steel it can also just put it on my stove directly to heat up the milk
Depends on the mood really. But I would recommend a frother over FP, much easier to work with and not expensive at all. I have this one, but there are cheaper ones

I've used this type for years for cappuccino on the road and love it. Classic manual pump style. Easy to use, no worry about rubber parts. I've even poured latte are with the "near" microfoam I can get out of it if the milk type is right (good quality whole milk) and I haven't burnt the milk. Cleaning = simply run the pump part under hot water directly after use. Easier cleaning (less scrubbing) of the pot part if you heat it inside another pot of water, or just heat it on low heat and don't let the milk get too hot (to keep a good texture of milk and maintain the milk's natural sweetness you don't want it too hot anyway).
You can do it a few ways. I put mine in my milk frother and just pump it up:
If you don't have that contraption, you can throw it into a blender or Ninja or bullet. Whatever you happen to have. It will mix it into a nice frothy blend for you! I love it. High fat, high MCT, and even after working out in the AM, I don't need to eat until well after noon! I highly recommend it (if you're also eating minimal grains/carbs. I do not recommend high fat with higher carbs!).
It sounds like he prefers sweeter flavoured drinks. You can experiment with adding Torani syrops to lattes. Making a mocha at home is not hard, you just need to make an espresso shot (aeropress, for example) and froth some milk and chocolate in "manual milk frother" (amazon). Also, look at Mr Coffee Cafe Latte (again, coffee snobs, please don't kick me)

The best milk frother I have ever had is this one, at about $21.50, although Amazon has others that are cheaper (like this one.
It's a manual frother that requires that you pre-heat the milk (unless you want it cold), but you only need to use the plunger for around 10-15 seconds to generate barista-quality microfoam. Much better than, say, the much more expensive frothers from Nespresso or Breville. We have a Breville at the office, and I use it to heat the milk, then run it through the manual frother.
I guess it's up to your personal taste, but I prefer frothed over just warmed. This is the frother I use. It works well, cleanup is easy, and it can be used on the stove.
Are you confusing French Press with this guy: http://www.amazon.com/HIC-Brands-Cook-Stainless-14-Ounce/dp/B000X7GF40/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1401450481&sr=8-3&keywords=milk+frother ?
Because they look sorta similar (both have rods with mesh at the bottom) and I personally own this frother and it works AMAZINGLY. I put 1 cup of milk into a pyrex glass cup, microwave the milk for 1 minutes and then pour it into the chamber of the frother. I then add the plunger, plunge about 12 times and BAM, perfectly frothed milk that is definitely a worthy substitute to steamed milk from a cafe.
