I have a subscription for the Hill's Science Diet Adult Wet Dog Food Chicken and Barely Entree Canned Dog Food from Amazon. We order six cases of this stuff a month. Got January's order fine. February was cancelled by Amazon. They had a recall.
Amazon didn't bother to inform us. Checked with our local PetsMart, none there. Bought the stew version to tide us over. Since they don't keep much in stock, had to go back in a couple of days and found they put up a recall notice.
Would have been nice if they asked Amazon to inform all the people they sold it to, but that ship has sailed.
By the way, we tried their "Stew" version of the Chicken. Dogs hated it, would leave half a bowl at feeding time (which is not rare, it's unique).
So I went to the local Stop and Shop and found "Nature's promise Chicken" which was comparable to the Hills. Problem is, no one keeps the quantities of food I need in stock, so I bought another week.
Called Hills today (2/22/19). Got a woman on the phone more interested in pushing the line "It was available almost immediately after the recall" which was end of January. I explained that neither PetsMart nor Amazon was carrying it. She said that was their problem. Keep telling me to go to "Chewy". Told her I didn't want to chase over heaven and earth. If it wasn't available locally or from Amazon, I was going to move on to another product.
Called Amazon, they said they did NOT have it, and had no information on when it would be back.
Not really sure what kind of a company doesn't care that the largest retailer in the country, and one of the largest pet retailers in the country aren't carrying their product which was "immediately available after the recall", but it has soured me on Hills.
I will find an alternative and move. Just thought I would save anyone with recurring subscriptions on Amazon for this stuff some time and phone calls.
