This is the one I got off amazon. It had pretty good reviews. Seems the biggest issue some people have is if they set it to "constant" run mode it can ice up on you.
Im in same boat and have an older dehumidifier w hose draining into sump pit. My buddy recommended this one as an upgrade, but some of the reviews mentioning hose feature use are dicey, especially considering Im running about 10’ to my pit…
I've had issues with dehumidifiers. Always. They never seem to last longer than 2 years.
I bought this one off Amazon a little over a year ago. It is a little loud and kicks out a lot of heat (they all do, but this one seems to kick off more). I shelled out the extra $45 for the 4 year coverage because I fully expect it to break before then.
I've been using this one for my house and it sits about 25 ft from my tents. Works great and just needs to elevate it for self drain
It is mainly the humidity. A 50+ humidity is not good for anything in the house period, well... except in a cigars humidor. Have you considered getting a portable dehumidifier for the house? Something like: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073VBWKJZ
with the tent in the basement, humindity will be even more of an issue.
you need a big dehumidifier. its really the only way. I use something like this in a 10x12 foot room. more is more with dehumidifiers. goodluck

Prices went up a lot in the past couple years, I got this one for $130 long ago. Just 50 pints per day. They make smaller models too this is their largest.
Agree, if blessed with floor drains or other non-kludge options, 2 dehumidifiers gives you some redundancy if one quits. Plenty of capacity options w/ and w/o pump in hOmelabs lineup. hOmeLabs 4,500 Sq. I use this one for a 1400 square foot ranch (air conditioned and no basement) with mostly leaky, old windows. It works really well, and because it's meant for a larger space (accidental ordering mix-up ftw), I don't have to empty it all the time. YMMV though especially since you're dealing with a 2-story house.
I bought this homelabs one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073VBWKJZ/
It has various settings, but I just leave it on constantly, so it’s set to run if the interior humidity goes over 50%. In the thick of summer, I’d have to empty it twice a day. But I notice the difference so much. Less sweaty at night, and we used to have problems with our exposed ducts sweating, but no more. Hard recommend a dehumidifier in general, and I’ve been happy with this one (I think it was rated well from Wirecutter which is why I bought).
To follow up - I actually ended up going with the hOmeLabs 70 pint dehumidifier since it was ranked highly, had good customer reviews, and will do what I need it to.

South East Missouri? Here..take this.
Number one on Consumer Reports and 4.5 stars with over 3,000 reviews on Amazon. It is quiet and has an auto mode based on temperature.

We bought a new air conditioner system for our our home that’s apparently incapable of removing moisture from the air. So, we purchased this one on Amazon: hOmeLabs 4,500 Sq. Ft Energy Star Dehumidifier for Extra Large Rooms and Basements https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073VBWKJZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KW60CXP7M19H55NF9NPT?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It’s default setting is “Comfort” & it keeps the humidity at +/- 5% of 50% humidity, which we find comfortable. If it doesn’t detect that it needs to be on, like most of the winter time for us, then it just stays off until the humidity level gets high enough to turn on again.
Emptying the bucket out 4 or 5 times a day became tedious so eventually I bought this pump to automate the process: Little Giant 554425 VCMA-20ULS 80 GPH 1/30 HP Automatic Condensate Pump with Safety Switch for HVAC, Dehumidifier, Furnace, Air Conditioner https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SM342Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_DKR65YH5SEV896D4Y591?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I have my AC condensation drain as well as a hose hooked up to a condensation pump. I pump mine outside as my HVAC tech said some locations require that, so draining into your laundry drain may not necessarily be up to code.
