I've done this twice on my RDX. It's as easy as changing the oil. One added step measure how much comes out and not overfilling. If I remember, you drain 3-4 quarts, add 3-4 quarts. This is the oil I use.
Warming up the transmission oil will make it flow a little better as it's a thicker viscosity than the engine oil.
You should be safe to do a drain and fill as long as the fluid is red/brown but not black. These do not have replaceable transmission filters. Honda transmissions have been known to act funny if you do not use genuine Honda transmission fluid. You can get it online here or at the dealer parts counter. It was pretty straight forward on my 2017. I don't think much has changed with the new model. I followed this video. I used Honda specific transmission fluid.
