Did you consider just making the desk yourself? I made a 7’ x 3’ desk for my gear out of 2x4s and MDF for about $50 in materials. I wanted it to fill up every last inch of my room and knew I’d never find something the exact specs or depth that I wanted.

I made it with a detachable leaf that I eventually took off.

My monitor is mounted on the wall via an Ergotron arm, and can be raised to standing height. I have a folding desktop that I can put on my regular desktop to use it like a standing desk. This was around $30 with the coupon applied.

I have this lap desk and is extremely happy with it, as it means I can sit in bed much easier and I can reconfigurate it if I want to sit in other places like the sofa. I managed to find it for about 30$ on another site. So I don't need to have so close I have also bought a cheap bluetooth keyboard, it also makes it easier for the cat to sleep in my lap. Pre-COVID I used to do all of my journaling/writing at a Tim Hortons (Canadian coffee chain) near me. It was the only place I could go to get away from the distractions at home and focus.

Ever since COVID, I've struggled to find a place to journal. My desk is small and just fits my computer, the keyboard (on a keyboard tray) and mouse. The keyboard tray is too low for me to lean down and write on, and there isn't anywhere else in my apartment I can write. No where I can really fit another desk either. I was looking to get a TV tray or something to use but so far, no dice (or they're the cost of a new tiny desk).

Did try writing in bed but again, nothing to write on. The lap desk I have, I'm still leaning down and straining my back. It's a bit frustrating. I'm hoping to find something like a laptop stand (something like this) that I can get in Canada, and then just use it for journaling. My really odd looking setup atm is the lap desk I have, with a cutting board I bought at the dollar store and it's all held together by bungee cords XD I put that on top of a pillow in my lap and it's somewhat of a solid surface without having to lean forward so much.

I wonder if something like this would make it comfortable to use them stacked while in bed. I have no issue with a single 7u 104hp on map with a small pillow under it to angle it a bit.

I put down blankets and towels to soften the surface (my office was on the basement level with a concrete floor, topped by a thin carpet), then had some pillows to prop up arms as needed. Mostly I leaned on my left side and typed with my right.

I've also found it helpful to have a bed desk like this and sit on the floor (or bed) with legs extended.

It's definitely cracked as everyone has already stated here. However stop using it on your bed like that. Put it on a hard surface so it can breathe. They make lap desks for this purpose and it will greatly increase your laptop's performance and longevity by allowing it to breathe while you're using it and not bake it's self.

If you need it to be angled while typing you can get a MOFT stand or similar from amazon. I have MOFT's invisible stand that sticks to the laptop, though mines on the case, and it folds out to two different angles for typing/viewing. I also have one of those adjustable leg lap desks that can be tall or short (there's cheaper ones but mine sold out). I have a bluetooth mechanical keyboard for mine so I can put my Air on the tall setting and type on the table etc. to be comfortable.

This saved me however for the lag mouse and keyboard issue it can be tricky to save your hands and arms I hate to say it a touch pad is a better way to do that however it's a skill set in it self... The trick to working pretty much anywhere you can sit comfortably is a lap desk with a surface can be tilted up, like this one. (I don't own that specific model but I have one a lot like it.) Tilting the work surface up as high as it will go puts the display closer to eye level, and that makes a world of difference. The keyboard position is a little bit of a compromise but I've learned to live with it.

Mine has been everywhere from sofa to recliner to bed to lawn and beach chairs to the back of my wife's SUV on a long road trip. It also makes larger laptops usable in airplane seats by cutting the depth requirement. My desk is great, but I've done multiple full days in a row elsewhere and it hasn't been a problem.

This lapdesk has a fan for air flow, a pad on the bottom to keep it comfortable on your lap, and a detachable mousepad, which would eliminate the need to use a trackpad while gaming.

I’ll give the same XBOX tips I always give: Buy a wireless mouse/keyboard combo: if you get the combo, they only take up one USB slot.

I really like the Thrustmaster T.flight HOTAS but new hardware is coming out soon from other 3rd parties. Most promising is the Turtle beach Velocity One. If has a yoke and throttle, which you’ll like if you want the Cessna experience, but I was surprised to find out how good a HOTAS feels regardless of what type of plane I’m flying. If you get a yoke and throttle, you’ll need a sturdy desk or table to clamp it to.

Just keep in mind that cooling pads only have a small effect on the internal temperature of your laptop. Where they really help is by keeping the heat away from your legs.

The b2 button on top of the stick (where your thumb would go) works well for brakes.

I love this flight stick (I also have a series S) very happy with it.

The only problem I have is that, when I try to change the button assignments, it just doesn’t take. But, it doesn’t matter, because I’ve grown to like the default button assignments a lot.

While this is more of a lap desk rather than just a laptop stand I think the adjustable angles get the job done. It's also made for larger laptops so I don't imagine weight would be an issue here? I use the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2 in 1 with it. It's also 15.6" screen and is about a pound and a half lighter than yours.

I have this “laptop bed tray table” that I adore. You can use it for more than just studying in bed though. I put it on top of my desk, too, so I don’t have to crane my neck. It’s big enough that I can have my laptop and textbook on it at the same time.

A lot of my classmates have book stands. I personally don’t, but some of them swear by them.

It’s way too early to do this yet, but when you do start classes, you should also consider finding out if your law library has online offerings of study aid books (such as High Court Case Summaries keyed to whichever text book you will use). Also, Quimbee. I know some schools offer free/discounted Quimbee accounts. Again, it is WAY too soon to look right now, but keep this in mind when you do start classes.

An adjustable desk thing for $40. It has 3 leg segments that can be adjusted 360 degrees. I use it on my couch to keep my laptop off my lap and to raise it up a little so I don't hunch over. Love it!

Hi there, yeah I did a repaste with Arctic MX-4 2019 Edition and my temps didn't improve either. Actually, the performance got even slightly worse, the paste has been open for almost 2 years so it may have gone bad. My Time Spy bench fell from 8150 to 7900 levels on average, indicating they did an actually good pasting job in the factory.

I did a slight undervolt (it was enabled with a recent BIOS update, you can download it from HP Support Website) of -30mV using Throttlestop and it actually slightly lowered my temps and increased the performance. But it's far from "solving" how hot these laptops get.

LM appears to be the only option to decrease the temps without sacrificing performance but it's too risky imo. Even if it is applied correctly, LM forms an alloy with the heatsink when you first apply it so you have to clean it up 1-2 months after the first application and repaste again. It is too much hassle for me.

I bought a nice multi-angle laptop stand (Something like this) and since the keyboard itself doesn't get too hot anyway, I can play without any issues on the couch and on the bed as well as the table.

Despite the heating, I'm really happy with this laptop and after opening the inside, I appreciate the engineering that went into this even more. I upgraded from the mid-2017 Omen (7700HQ, 1070) and the design has come a looong way since then. I still prefer these "2019 refresh" designs over the 2020 design though, feels like a step backwards.

I don't know if this will help you because I ordered it via german amazon. The stand is called Wonder Worker Newton. It's a very flexible stand but you need a nonslipping surface to place it on or get some rubber knobs so it can't slip.

The mixer is a behringer xenyx from an old series. I should get another one since the sound isn't perfect but ever since behringer hooked up with xenyx it got way better than their old stuff. The USB interface is very bad though - I only use it as an I/O mixer for master and headphones.

Fascinating. I've never seen that, but I work flat on my back on my laptop with this. It's not quite as dramatic as you're looking for, but it allows me to work completely flat.

4800H would be her best option. they are designed for use in a laptop. Run far cooler than the 3700X and will provide a better end user experience. Might be the WorkEZlaptop stand. If not this is what I use. Very flexible positioning and if you want can get the optional mouse pad.

I like the look of the Hover X+. However it's $90 which seems a bit steep. It also seems large since it can accommodate pretty large laptops. If you have 15" laptop or less and want something portable and cheap I think I'm going with this one. Unless someone can suggest otherwise.

Get a laptop desk with adjustable arms. You'll find the extra attached mousepad flimsy, so put your mousepad on top of a book beside you... it's more comfortable this way anyway
