I recommend "How (Not) To Read the Bible" by Dan Kimball. It's endorsed by the Bible Project team. It's a undergraduate level introduction to reading the Bible well in it's cultural context and it address almost everything you could possibly object to in the Bible in some way.
I'm not sure if it's ok with the sub rules but I'm dropping a link for it on Amazon.

The bible is biggoted and xenophobic? You mean it tells the stories of biggoted and xenophobic people right? I don't know where the bible espouses/commands we rape our spouses, force marriage's, etc. You're confused.
