Another book you might look into, and I recommend this more on reputation, is How To Read A Poem by Terry Eagleton. I've seen it in all the Borders I've been to lately, though it might be cheaper to buy it online if you can't just find it in the library. Give it a look at least. He's a first rate critic and from browsing the contents it looks fairly thorough. I think the most important aspect of it is he is emphasizing close reading as the basis. Stop by your local book store and give it a look. A lot of the same basic skills go into reading poems and novels and since you're reading Browning anyway, you'd be doing yourself a favor to see how they apply particularly to poetry.
