If English is your first/second language, then I would read something like the NIV/NRSV/NASB/ESV. All of these are modern English translations (with some stylistic and theological adaptations). If English is not your first language, and you nevertheless want to readi in English, try the ERV (Easy-to-Read Version) or Bible in Simple English. Otherwise, find the primary translation of whatever language is your first language. As for English, I would not read the KJV for ease of read as the language is more archaic.
