I love it! I can tell that you clearly put a lot of TLC into this tank. The little volcano bubbler is adorable and you have it perfectly stocked with what looks like a mystery snail and a gorgeous betta. Maybe consider a higher quality light? I think it might make the colors of the betta pop a bit more. You can get a pretty good LED light on Amazon like this one: LED light
I’ve just used normal aquarium gravel and it has worked out fine and my plants have actually thrived to a point where I’ve had to cut them down a ton over time. I just suggest getting a good light meant for plants and a couple of root tabs tucked into the gravel to start!
Here is the link for the light I got that seemed to work out great.

Omg! Thank you! ☺️. I use aquarium lights for my tank. During the day I use the bright white light on its highest setting and at night I use the “moonlight” (white and purple) on the lowest setting. It takes 3 of them to light my tank but they are so easy to use! And the price on Amazon compared to the price at PetCo is CRAZY! Here is the Amazon link. If you have any other questions just let me know! ☺️

I just have aquarium lighting that sits on top of my tanks. I have 2 tanks connected by a topper. I have a light on both ends and one of the topper. You can change them between bright white light, purple or a simulated moonlight (whitish purple). I have the whitish purple one on at night. I got them on Amazon…here is a link!

I’m not sure what kind of light they are UBV or what. I think they are LED lol? I use the bright white during the day and purple setting at night. It supposed to simulate moonlight and be safe for them 🥰
I agree; pretty hard to go wrong. I have two tanks currently and I’m using these from Amazon - Hygger 14W Full Spectrum Aquarium Light with Aluminum Alloy Shell Extendable Brackets, White Blue Red LEDs, External Controller, for Freshwater Fish Tank (18-24 inch) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X9T9PV6/ .
Plants and frogs are thriving, so they seem to be working 🙂
Maybe, but the fish themselves have been in there for 7-8 months now. I love my little embers. They're weird little creepers, haha.
I have a hyger 14w full spectrum on this tank. This is what showed not sure how many watts

Oh, I didn’t have the fancy hygger, just this one. I had it on a wifi switch and would do an 8hr countdown while at work. The thing I hated was that if I tried to just have it on a program (either on the light itself or on my wifi outlet app), the lights would always come on at full blast and I’d have to be there to turn it down. If I used the light’s timer, the light would just dim at the end of the time period instead of going off completely. Both issues defeated the purpose of automation.
So, I can’t speak to the one you’re ordering. I know I’ve seen vids about it on YouTube. I can’t recall if it does the same “full blast” thing.

Hmmm so the problem with this is that using color temperature as a stand in for wavelengths isn't actually the best way to go about it (although it's common). Effective grow LEDs frequently are blue and red heavy. I don't know if the light you have provides enough of the blue and red wavelengths to make stuff grow nicely, but you could probably look it up to be sure. Or maybe consider a new light?
This is the one I use for my betta: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X9T9PV6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_C7B1J5KMFMV0H7M2B7KA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I’m really happy with this one. Has three different lighting modes, 3-6-9 hours for the light timer, and 5 different levels of brightness. The only gripe I have is after the timer finishes, the light doesn’t turn off, just goes very dark.
If you’re worried about algae, that responsibility falls on you and the setup you have, not the equipments fault. You’re gonna have to make sure to follow the proper Estimative Index (EI) dosage so you don’t put in too much nutrients and leave on the lights too long. I have had algae problems in the past and that was definitely due to a mixture of lights on too long and rising phosphates levels.
This one: Hygger light on a 10g (40L) tank.
I did end up finding this light yesterday while I was searching on amazon. LED LIGHT I thought it seemed like a good one but I’m not sure if anyone here has any experience with one.
Thanks for the reply.. I did not get a heater. I did condition the water and I did add aquarium salt to create the brackish water. I did 1 teaspoon and let it dissolve then I added it... only about 1.5 gallons or so in the tank. I’m in Texas but it stays about 69-72 in my house and they’re in the kitchen. I did also order these lights on amazon (link below) Today I added a moss ball and 5 little ghost shrimp and 3 very tiny minnows which I just watched one swim into one of the caves with a crab and hasn’t come out but them crab seems to be eating so I’m gonna assume the crab snatched up that Minnow. How long does it take for the water to clear up? It’s not nearly as foggy but it’s not exactly crystal clear either. Thanks.

Yeah it's a 20g high, I started with a 10g for a few weeks but quickly upgraded to the 20g. I started with this light that was originally on the 10g, its made by hygger.
But after a while i actually bought a second light, this time a bit more wide. Also made by hygger, this one. I use them both of them on this tank.
Just got it off Amazon I’ll link it for you. Hygger 14W Full Spectrum Aquarium, the 18-24in one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X9T9PV6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
