No need for hooks. Amazon sells some pull up bars you can install in a doorway without any nails or hooks. You can use the bar directly or hang rings from there.
Rings and a pull up bar are your best bet. The rings are adjustable and you can progress through different gradations of push-ups and pull ups with them. As well as advanced movements later. This way you don’t have to buy something that will be useless. You can get a removable pull up bar on Amazon like this one: [link]. Then hang the rings from it.
I use this one
No issues so far, the design distributes much of the force on the front of the jamb, feels a lot more stable to me than other models.
I am using this Ikonfitness Pull Up Bar. Which is easy to put up and take down.
Hahaha mine is just one of those triangle, fold in ones like this:
Because it is level with the height of the doorframe so I can hang. But this one is expensive. I just don't like the lower bars that much and never used the other version that hangs under the doorway when I had it. It looks like this:
... The specific one I got in Germany off Amazon, so that won't be too helpful, and it made squeaky sounds sometimes, also not helpful. So read the reviews!
I also used a hang board (beastmaker 1000) which is used for climbing training (thank you boyfriend). That one costs a pretty penny though.
Good question! I set up mine on my pull-up bar handles and it works out to be just about the width of my shoulders.
I use this pull-up bar: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0798J8ZP1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and these rings: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KHPSXJM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The rings are threaded through a long piece of nylon fabric that allows you to adjust the height. The instructions in the packaging are easy to follow. I have no doubt you'll be able to figure it out!
Have this for a couple months. Would strongly recommend :D
