So we just purchased some property and I have a small river with some pretty deep pockets in it. I thought I'd go ahead and purchase a remote read (uses bluetooth) recording thermometer. It wasn't expensive and I get to keep an eye on the temp of the river. You could use the same for a pond (caveat--my pond is so small, I just measure it with a direct read thermometer). This is the one that I purchased: https://www.onsetcomp.com/products/data-loggers/mx2201
I wanted to add that I have received the thermometer and it is small (which I already knew). It also floats--so you will need to secure it to a rock or perhaps even stick it in your filter if you have a inpond filter.
Another even more inexpensive option is a pool thermometer. This one is remote read: https://smile.amazon.com/Inkbird-IBS-P01R-Wireless-Thermometer-Floating/dp/B08GFZS475/ref=sr_1_54?crid=29FGNVT03LGRO&keywords=submersible+thermometer&qid=1666877917&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI0Ljk0IiwicXNhIjoiNC4yOCIsInFzcCI6IjQuMTUifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=submersible+thermometers%2Caps%2C73&sr=8-54
Lots of options out there. Your local pond store may have some options too?
