Like, he brought me my favorite coffee, he makes me laugh, he makes an effort to compliment me more when I asked so he cares enough to listen to me/values my feelings, he texts me good morning every day, i love how ambitious he is, he made me a fancy dinner, he holds my hand in public.. anything you can appreciate and reasons your partner is great. Do it when you're in a good mood. Then, keep that list handy and read it when you're upset with him to remind yourself that he does a lot for you and has shown before that he cares about you.

Another thing that helps me is really making an effort to remember that people aren't "good" or "bad," they're just people. Your boyfriend can care so deeply about you and also be really bad at complimenting you. That doesn't mean he doesn't care about you, it just means he's not giving you as many compliments as you would ideally want. It also doesn't require that you do anything about it. That doesn't mean you have to break up with him or even bring it up if you don't want to. It just means you feel like he isn't complimenting you enough. You can do whatever you want with that info and don't have to feel obligated to break up w him or bring it up or anything. As long as you feel like the good outweighs the bad, then it's fine. Then, if you have a need that isn't being met and you need it to be addressed in order to feel good in the relationship, then ask for it in a kind way and make an effort to notice any progress he's made and thank him for it.

However, I know if I brought it up, he would immediately drop something he cares about or sacrifice his alone time/time to do basic life chores to meet my need. I don't want him to give up any of his hobbies or stress himself out by having to cram a bunch of errands into less time just to meet my need. So, I'm gonna see if I can hold out through this feeling first. If this is a continuous problem, *then* I'll ask for a change or if I can join him in some of his things, but since this is the first time I've felt this in a while, I'm going to see if I can tolerate this feeling before asking. Maybe I can find more hobbies or fill that time somehow, too. that would probably help first before resorting to asking for a change." I know I could also ask for smaller stuff, like "can you text me a couple times while you're doing your hobbies" or "can we facetime after work but before your hobby things for 15 mins" first to see if that helped. It just really helps me since I know he would def do what I asked, I feel heard and cared about, so I'm more willing to tolerate my negative feeling and don't feel neglected.
