My GF and I have been doing this for about 3 years. We liked it so much we bought a wedge pillow from Amazon so we wouldn't be messing with our good sleeping pillows.
We also love using the pillow when she is laying stomach down on the pillow with her vagina just back from the edge and she uses a small vibe on her clit. She cums every time we do this. I think its the ease of access for everything and she doesn't have to support herself while I can go as hard as I want. Definitely recommend!
Well the obvious question and advice is: How much are you inclining the bed? It shouldn't be so inclined that you slide down it. When I did it years ago, I simply propped up the front of my bread frame with a brick on each side.
Also, you might consider a wedge pillow instead.
I just bought a bed wedge for acid reflux on Amazon. I haven’t tried it yet (just got it today), but hundreds of people with GERD and other complications swear by it.
Buy the 7” ones, I’m advised that the 12” consumers slip in the middle of the night. This one is economic and lots of great reviews. I spent months piling pillows and getting neck and back pain. It may be a little expensive but for what it’s worth, could save a lot of people like us pain. Plus, it comes with a pillow.

I ended up needing a second surgery 2.5 months after the initial recon - they removed a ton of scar tissue and helped my knee to bend while I was under anesthesia. So helpful, but hopefully you won't need anything like that!
If the sleeves you have right now feel too tight, I would suggest maybe using an ace bandage as compression, but make sure to google proper wrapping technique so you don't wrap it incorrectly. This will give you more control over the compression amount.

My anxiety/nervousness was giving me terrible acid reflux to where it would wake me up and I’d have a sore throat in the morning.

I'm 6'1 and my wife is 5'4 and this worked for us. I'm sure the 12 inch would work just as well.
I really like this one! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AK3VZBA/
I use the mini pillow on it all the time when sleeping. A 12' x 24" pillow case fits the mini pillow well and for the wedge, the company makes their own. I get two for each pillow.
I got a wedge pillow as recommended from this group and pillow cases.

I am using this one and it's worked great so far. Last time I just built up a makeshift pillow ramp and was always having to futz with it.

I forgot to mention that I use the small pillow this wedge comes with under my waist, and I use a thick blanket as a pillow so I can lay on my side.
I can't sleep on my back it has always felt weird for me.
Yes, they do help IMO, although I didn't really ever have that bad of GERD laying down, just occasional. I recommend this one that I currently use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AK3VZBA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is the one I purchased, but honestly, I think it's all the other pillows that make the difference (under my side).
I will be 2 weeks post-op tomorrow and sleeping on my back has been the worst part. Someone on this sub recommended that I buy the wedge pillow it helped quite a bit; get a good pillow under your head, and another under each arm, you should do OK. I also have found these to be my favorite post-op bras. Super comfy! I got a few different sizes, not knowing what I'd be working with after surgery- frankly the 1, 2 and 3x all feel interchangeable. I also bought some button-front PJ shirts for schlubbing around in. I took a week off- Surgery was a Thursday, drains out the following Monday, back at work a week after that. So far it has been a fantastic experience and I'm so happy for you! Good luck!
