when i first picked up It's Kind Of A Funny Story for a highschool independent reading class, i thought it wouldn't be anything special. i was determined to just skim through it, write my weekly required book report on it, and be done with it.
i could not. put. that. book. down. it is engrossing, and unfortunately very relatable for me personally. i highly recommend it.
that'll do pig
It's Kind of a Funny Story, by Ned Vizzini. I've never suffered from depression before, but I know people who do. From what I've heard, it's a pretty honest portrayal of what it's like, written in a very non-depressing and funny way. That said, some traits of the main character did resonate with me, particularly the fear of being average.
Edit: And the Redwall Series (for the descriptive battle and food scenes of course)
