>KVM
I tried plugging DP 1.2 (this one) in my laptop but there was no option/plug that in into the laptop, I am able to plug only HDMI.
So is there KVM which has HDMI and DP 1.2 which works with DP-1.2/Monitor/keyboard/Mouse?
What fixed this for me was getting a new DisplayPort cable. The one that ships with the monitor is crap, you need to get one rated for your resolution @144Hz, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2
This is the display port cable is use DisplayPort cable my monitor is a 1440p dell S2719DGF overclocked to 155hz I’m not sure if that cable is of poor quality or what let me know what you think
Ohh iVANKY! Glad to see someone else mentioning this brand here :)
All my cables are from this brand. I have their docking station as well, no complaints. Do please go for it.
Here's their DP cable if you are considering getting one.
No, it won't influence the performance, but get the cable from some genuine product pages. For example this one with the 1st ranking in the DVI cables category.
I checked my Nvidia control panel and it was reading the monitor at 1440p and 144hz capable. It was set to 60hz by default but the option for 144 was there.
I tried looking for relatively cheap cables at Best Buy and Walmart but they sell them for like 25-30 dollars. So I picked the cheapest/highest quality one on amazon.
ivanky DisplayPort Cable 6.6ft DP Cable Nylon Braided [2K@165Hz, 2K@144Hz, 4K@60Hz] Display Port Cable High Speed DisplayPort to DisplayPort Cable Compatible PC, Laptop, TV - Slim Aluminum Shell, Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078HVDMW2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_85.gCb8D0S7QT
The cable is super thick and it’s braided so it’s build quality feels premium. The connecter is all metal as well.
Ivanky is the name of the company, I just added that so it might be useful or something. What I am trying to say, I used to game on 720p 144hz using the DVI, but according to the Displayport that I got from amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HVDMW2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) it says 2k @144hz. So I assumed I could bump my gaming experience from 720p to 1080p at the same refresh rate. Sorry if I wasn't or still not clear.
The Ivanky one on amazon has great reviews and has served me well for the past few weeks that I've had it. It also comes with a lifetime warranty, which I was informed of by email after the package arrived. https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2
Most DP cords should work fine. There are some on amazon that advertise that they are compatible with 2k+ 144hz such as https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=displayport+1440&qid=1573855371&sr=8-4
Well, if you try a different one, let me know what happens. I was originally going to buy this one which also says the 20th pin is inactive. I just ended up going for the other one because it has a latch on it and some reviews said that ones without the latch come loose sometimes.
I bought this one not too long ago and its been flawless. I was getting some major flickering with a DP cable from MicroCenter and as soon as I replaced it with this one all issues stopped.
any newer displayport cable would work but here's a good one from Amazon
Thank you, you can find them on Amazon here
I'm using the one with logo as your link shows, but it kinda cheap one, basically no brand - took from office lab to verify that monitor is OK.
I'm using Win7, Legacy boot, BIOS is outdated.
I can purchase Ivanku DP cable on Amazon, if major suspect is the cable
> I was wondering should I be using a display port like this?
If I may: no, because that's a no-name cable. Use the DisplayPort cable included with the monitor--if any--or get a name brand (Startech, etc) DisplayPort cable because DisplayPort in my experience has sooo many issues that you don't want to risk adding something like a no-name cable that could cause problems.
Yeah, something like this will do. Just don't fall for the $1000 swarovski crystal gold plated scam.
I was experiencing a very similar issue with my 144hz monitor as well, though mine was gsync. As others suggested you might try without freesync on, but really that just means you aren't using part of your monitor's features which doesn't seem like a great fix.
For me it wound up being a cable issue. I did get the issue with an existing long DP cable I had as well as the shorter cable that came with the monitor. I wound up buying this and since I have not seen the issue.
>I grabbed a display port and planned to setup that 165hz overclock.
What do you mean by overclock? doesn't the monitor already support 165hz? that doesnt sound like overclocking.
Now on to what I actually have to say, as r/u_lds1998 said, try a different display port cable. A thing to add is try a HDMI instead. I know it does not have the bandwidth of DP but it should handle at least 144hz assuming its the latest HDMI connection (I don't know AMD GPUs). I never had a G-Sync monitor but make sure there are no settings for it in the monitors menu. If there are make sure they are off. (for what should be obvious reason). Also make sure that your monitors response time is set to 1ms (not sure on this monitor but my Samsung 144hz has the ability to change between 3 response rates).
Probably more than what you need, but not expensive and good quality - I have this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078HVDMW2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_6EXM4ETTEHVAKDM07S1D?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
any type would work. this is the one i personally use and i’ve had no problems with
Yeah, ivanky DP cable. 11 bucks on Amazon, multiple people recommended it to me and I've been at 120 Hz with no issues
https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2
https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2
I have this cable and it supports the refresh rate and resolution you want.
But I just remembered you need a minidisplay port at the other end, lol Hang on I will see if I can find one
It's been fine even now, I still use my other laptops with this setup with no issue, easier to switch when using external keyboard and mouse. The displayport cable is fairly good quality (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HVDMW2), and the cable from SOHO to host computers is still the original cable that came with it.
I am now testing with HDMI cable and found some more info with this SOHO regarding AMD FreeSync.
Laptop <-> SOHO <-> displayport <-> monitor : FreeSync is disabled
Laptop <-> SOHO <-> hdmi <-> monitor : FreeSync is disabled
Laptop <-> hdmi <-> monitor : FreeSync is enabled
Looks like the SOHO cannot support FreeSync.
I don't have a usb-c to displayport cable, but I'm planning to buy one for testing. I will update back.
Did you think I was the original poster? Your response made me think so. Luckily I'm not experiencing any artifacting, but I appreciate you asking. My current issue is stuttering in games, but I'm in the early phases of troubleshooting.
It all started with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but sources online claim this issue is the result of poor optimization with the way the game loads assets and it's mostly unavoidable regardless of settings. Now, I notice stuttering in all my games, but I can't tell if I'm just hyper aware of it now.
I remember a time when I couldn't tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS, but now I definitely can, so I don't know if it's me, my hardware (hence asking about cables), or the optimization of the game. This is the cable I'm currently using, if you have any thoughts.
This is the displayport cable I've got: https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2/
Worked perfectly fine with my old card. I've tried with an extra DisplayPort cable that I have at home already but I suppose that can be bad too? I'll try swinging by a BestBuy perhaps to get another just in case.
Sorry man, I bought myself a different cable since the ones that come with the monitors are usually short, or cheaply made. I don't know what I did with the original DP cable. Here's a link to the one I bought and am currently using. https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2/ref=sr_1_8?crid=13XB05YROLHHI&dchild=1&keywords=displayport+cable&qid=1624633987&sprefix=displa%2Caps%2C212&sr=8-8

And a budget one if you’re a student: ASUS PA278QV.

Don't forget to fit a standard-satisfying cable to your parts. I'm using an iVANKY DisplayPort cable, it makes the most of all the hardware.
Don't know much about the Windows settings, but gonna drop a very functional cable here:

Yes there is! Buy DisplayPort 1.4 cables. Here's an Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=displayport+1.4&qid=1556579585&s=gateway&sr=8-5
I wish you the best gaming experience!
Not sure if that is the issue, here is the cable I am using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HVDMW2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's just like 10$ bro. Buy a basic Displayport 1.4. There you go
if you buy a cable though I would get a display port. https://www.amazon.com/ivanky-DisplayPort-Braided-Display-Compatible/dp/B078HVDMW2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=display+port&qid=1577505342&s=electronics&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEySklWUEJZQk0yWUhHJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODU2NzQ0MjlaVjkzRTk4R1lLNCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzI3MjQ0MVJFRzUxNktEQkdUMyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= Is a good one.
iVanky if you don't like the clips that you have to press to eject them. I've had some issues where some of them became stuck inside my monitor's port.
To be honest, not too sure what the UFO test is. I just went back and read your post. The model number is S2719DGF. The 155 is overclocked through OSD, works well with no issues, but it comes out of box 144. If you are talking about motion blur it has a super high rating on RTINGS, a 9.9. Its a beautiful monitor! I am rather busy with work and school, so I have played maybe about 20 hours or so of games since I bought it, but have been lazy and have not calibrated it or anything too time consuming. $319 is a steal, I just had them price adjust mine, since I bought it two weeks ago for $380 from BB. It retails anywhere from $300s to mid $400s. $319 is the lowest I've seen it.
I honestly love it! I have a RTX2060, and I normally do not get near the 155hz, normally like 100 to 120fps, but crystal clear image, decent colors (amazing post-calibration according to the internet), and great design. I will mention that BB and other retailers are claiming that it has a 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio, but that is dynamic, so not a true number. Freesync works great with it, now that Nvidia released drivers. Other than that, well worth buy if you are in the market for a monitor.

You want something with specifications and quality assurance
With this budget I recommend Gigabyte G27Q, plus a strong cable for a long term use after this upgrade.

This displayport 1.2 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078HVDMW2 works fine for my ultrawide 144hz.
Also wouldn't hurt to get new high end cables
I recommend ivanky https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078HVDMW2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_4T7HP1QBE98EAWZ1YHNF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
