You definitely can change the station on them, I had one and if set to broadcast on a local station they would interfere with each other. Here's one on amazon.
Theres some good ones on amazon that don’t use the tape deck. Just Bluetooth through the radio. I had some $100 one long ago that never sounded as good as the $15 one I got on amazon. I feel like Bluetooth radio ones tend to sound better than cassette ones but that’s just my personal opinion. Maybe I never found the right one. https://www.amazon.com/JETech-Wireless-Transmitter-Phones-Charger/dp/B00URUJWPW
Buy this for $15: https://www.amazon.com/JETech-Wireless-Transmitter-Phones-Charger/dp/B00URUJWPW
Plug it into your car's cigarette lighter and your phone's headphones. Set the FM frequency to one where there isn't a station. Tune your car's radio to that frequency. Press play on your phone.
Sounds like someone has a Part 15 type FM transmitter connected to their phone. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/JETech-Wireless-Transmitter-Phones-Charger/dp/B00URUJWPW/
You're first hearing interference from the USB charger circuit. Then someone starts playback on a mobile device.
I would definitely go this route. A lot of the cheaper ones my kids have gotten even had an AUX port of you didn't want to pair it with a phone. Downside is they are getting harder to find since just about every mobile device is ditching headphone jacks. Or something like this just meant for AUX

Embarrassed that I own a luxury car and this is all I can come up with. PLEASE let me know if you can find a better option

You could accomplish this with audacity. High-pass filter, low-pass filter, compression, distortion.
But if you want to play with it, I say do the kit or a cheap car transmitter if it is legal in Finland. Those car transmitters are designed to only work at very low power and not be detectable past a hundred meters.
If you have a cigarette lighter plug you can use this that basically acts like an aux plugin. It allowed me to play music from my phone since my car doesn't have an aux plugin either.
I'd say get over yourself and get used to using current technology.
2 solutions: charger for your phone in the car. Battery drain solved.
There are FM transmitters that you can plug into your phone, so you can have your car stereo pick up what your phone is playing.

the other option since the cassette player is dead is to use an FM transmitter. It will sound about as good as the tape deck.
here's one:

My dad has this thing, it's a small radio transmitter that you plug in to the electrical thing and it's got an aux cord that broadcasts what your phone is playing to a specific radio signal. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00URUJWPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_n3CAxbCK8GEVM
I'm not sure if asking for advice about these devices is appropriate here in this subreddit. I'm mainly looking for a device that covers one ear and has a mic to call and maybe listen to podcasts when driving. Currently, I'm using the mic and earphone that came with my PS4.
I would love to have both a wired and wireless connection and, if at all possible, not required to have to charge (which I bet it rarely exists, if at all, for wireless). It can be a bluetooth device or whatever, but the only requirements are that it "cancels" noise the least amount as possible for safety when driving, one earphone, and a mic.
If it is possible, does an FM Transmitter like this one connecting to an audio-mic splitter and buying a mic work? I would be more at ease if I can use a mic that wraps around my head and use my car speakers to hear.
You can buy a FM transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack of your device. You just set your car radio to the frequency the little transmitter is sending on and you hear your device like its a radio station.

You can do a radio transmitter that plugs into your cig lighter if you have no tape player. If you do have a tape player you can get a tape to aux adapter. For the radio transmitter you just tune your cars radio into the station on the transmitter and it will play the music.
Will this work or do i have to get a new head unit? Head units are kinda pricey.
It's a little dingus that plugs into your cigarette lighter and into your phone. It takes the music from your phone, and beams it to an FM channel. Here's one on Amazon.
update: I think I may have found one! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00URUJWPW this may be the solution....crossing my fingers here! haha
Like this is what I use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00URUJWPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_P9K9X8QZS00Q6B03CPT8
This is the one I have:
get yourself one of these hook it up to your lighter car adapter light and hook up aux jack to your phone https://youtu.be/BygyBiuFW5Q bought two. since i like wired more than BT anyways. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00URUJWPW/_encoding=UTF8?ref=exp_inf_pl_kylesvt or this https://www.amazon.com/Nulaxy-Upgraded-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Handsfree/dp/B07L3MV14V/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=nulaxy+k18&qid=1601690607&sr=8-3 and this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07XPZNV2Y/ref=sspa_mw_detail_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1 hope this helps. if not and you dont like fm transmitters than disregard this comment. happy hunting.
Looking at that ebay profile, the feedback suggest they are indeed copies.
" I was a copy. not original. generic packaging memorex box "
" Bootleg copy delivered in plastic cd sleeves. CD was damaged as well."
You can easily create your own from audible though, probably the cheapest way to get it. If you don't have a CD writer or any blanks, ask at the library and they should be able to point you in the best direction of someone who can help you out with that, either converting it and burning it for you, or getting what you need to do it yourself. External USB CD writers are very cheap now, and a pack of blank CDs will last you several audio books.
However, if you're after original boxed audio CD collection expect to pay quite a bit more. They're quite rare sales now, even those with visual impairment have largely moved to digital services. However insaying that, you could try one of the visual impairment associations to see if they can supply new or used retail sets at a discount.
Failing that, your best bet would be a book store, or something like amazon.
Here in the UK we also have several online used book/music sites, like worldofbooks and musicmagpie where they sell used audiobooks on CD as well, so you might be able to source them from there.
Just be aware that CDs only hold around 75minutes of audio, so a 48hour book like the Strand is going to be around 40 CDs worth.
It might be worth looking into FM transmitter so you can tune your car's radio into the transmitter and then connect your phone to the transmitter to play back your audiobook from your phone that way. You can pick them up from amazon for around $15. Either use blue tooth to play back the audio from your phone or plug it in the headphone socket on your phone. You can then set the FM frequency that it transmits on and simply tune your car radio into it.

This is what I have https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00URUJWPW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it is completely clean 98% of the time. Only very rarely is there interference.
I do not believe that this will work on your car.
I wanted to do the same thing to my old car but the key to making this trick work is the fact that the example radio you linked to already has an aux button. The fact that it has an aux button but no place for a cord to go means that the radio is actually wired and constructed to have an aux cord work with it, but the manufacture wanted to sell that as an upgrade. This radio just needs a port for the aux cord to go, whereas your radio has no idea how to deal with an aux cord.
Think about it, how would you tell your radio to switch to the aux cord from a CD or the radio if you don't have the button there?
You could hypothetically work around this by messing with how the CD player works and that workaround functions by actually having a CD with a single track of no noise that "plays" while the aux cord would broadcast the sound through the speakers. This is a much more involved project that I really don't think is worth your time.
Honestly I really think you should either just buy a new radio, which is pretty simple to install and would probably come with bluetooth, or buy something like this for $20 and save yourself the headache.
To answer your other questions for future reference:
Lots but it is probably easier to buy a pack of resistors at a Radio Shack or Home Depot. They're not at all expensive and you know they work that way. It would be a bit of a pain to take things apart to rip out a resistor.
Yes, an old computer would probably be a great place to find such a connector.
He used a female jack for the same reason all cars come with the female jack. If you have a male jack going straight into the radio and the cord frays and breaks, you have to disassemble the dash to replace it. Use a female jack and then get an aux cord so you don't have this problem. If your cord goes bad you just go buy a new one and swap it rather than taking your car apart.
THis one works perfectly in all the cars I've tried it in: https://www.amazon.com/JETech-Wireless-Transmitter-Phones-Charger/dp/B00URUJWPW/ref=sr_1_1?s=mp3&ie=UTF8&qid=1467725480&sr=1-1
Solution? Get an FM Transmitter. They're like 17 bucks
I have this one, it works great for the price. No issues and I have had it for about a year
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00URUJWPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_E3jpxbEA6E499
You buy cheap little radio transmitters that you can plug into your phone!
Edit, cheaper one.
Get one of these and use pandora, spotify, last.fm or your own music collection from your phone.
