Also an app that used to be called Guthook, I think it just changed names to Far Out, but it’s like Yelp and google maps combined for hikes. You have to pay for the JMT hike but I used it constantly. It used GPS (even with no signal) and had landmarks around you or cool to see things but also mileage, elevation gain, and most importantly proposed camp site reviews. The app was great for confirming location, checking for streams with water still and picking camp sites. I used the app and my friend used the book and usually we came to camp destinations using both.
Do you have a through permit or are you camping in LYV the first night? Halfdome?
Edit: Haven't heard back so here is my response.
Here is an itinerary that assumes:
You are starting at Happy Isles
You are doing Half Dome on the first day
You have a through permit (are not required to camp at Little Yosemite Valley the first night)
You will resupply at Tuolomne Meadows, Reds Meadow, and Muir Trail Ranch
All of the data and camp sites are from the 2014 edition of John Muir Trail: The Essential Guide to Hiking America’s Most Famous Trail by Elizabeth Wenk. Distances are in miles, elevation in feet.
