Seems so. Do you know if simply attaching a wifi antenna and then switching the communication mode to wifi, and entering network info would work?
Why not just remove the tiny antenna whip and replace it with a hi-gain antenna on the top of the machine away from all the other components and skip adding extra complications to the system?
replace the antennae on both the wireless router and the nic on your son's gaming pc. This will be the easiest and least messy. Although running an ethernet cable across the house would provide better performance.
