It's a vinyl roof bag. I like it because it's waterproof and allows me to carry lots of extra stuff, but when the trips over I can compress it and stick it in a storage bin until next time. That way I can drive into my underground parking at the end of the day!
Here's a link to the particular one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Keeper-07203-1-Waterproof-Cargo-Cubic/dp/B00D9C2CDO/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1428546197&sr=1-1&keywords=Keeper+07203-1+Waterproof+Roof+Top+Cargo+Bag+%2815+Cubic+Feet%29
A word of caution: the vinyl split after the first couple of uses on mine. I repaired and re-enforced it so it appears to be fine.. but I'm not sure these folks intended them to be used much offroad
I'm about to start a lifestyle where I will be moving with all my stuff every 3 months. My first move is going to be cross country (USA). I'm purchasing one of these which is 15 cubic ft and is soft-sided so it can be rolled up and stored in the car if not needed. I have a small SUV. I'm giving away all my furniture except a memory foam mattress to sleep on.
this rooftop bag from Amazon. I drove from Los Angeles, through banff, to anchorage (over 5k miles) with it on the roof. It rained everyday of our trip for a month straight and never leaked a drop of water. It's still on my roof and it's rained on us almost every day we've been in ak. Amazing deal.
Also, if you're over landing you need to get an air compressor so you can air down and up if you need. I would also recommend an inverter and an extension cord so you can plug stuff in.
Additionally, I'd invest in some anker cigarette lighter and iPhone charging cables, as well as one of those large extra charge battery packs.
Also this little light is awesome. I use it all the time.
/u/alrashid2 no, I didn’t post about it here before but happy to weigh in.
It attaches to my stock rails and crossbars with 8 built in straps.
It packs down to about the size of a shoe box.
Overhead storage here
Edit: ***waterproof rooftop cargo bag to be specific
Ah just a roof top cargo bag, they are like $50, just buy a new one - Keeper 07203-1 Waterproof Roof Top Cargo Bag (15 Cubic Feet) could probably get it cheaper at Walmart too.
I have this one in my wish list on Amazon, good ratings and cheaper than most.
No crossbars needed. Straps on to the sides. Amazon

I'm totally grabbing closet organizers like that! I think I can pull the back seat out but good tip for pulling the floor of the trunk out.
Also was going to give one of these a try. Would be good for clothes, towels, bedding, etc. http://www.amazon.com/Keeper-07203-1-Waterproof-Cargo-Cubic/dp/B00D9C2CDO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1435676687&sr=8-1&keywords=soft+top+carrier&refinements=p_72%3A2661618011
