I'm in the same general area as you. I don't think supplies are anywhere as bad as you're making them out to be.
More so, I don't think it's fair to blame others here. The reality is that we saw there would be stay at home orders coming a long time ago. Supplies were plentiful, but when people buy certain items to get them through the lockdown, supplies are going to run out even without hoarding. Items like paper towels, toilet paper, etc... don't get stocked at levels high enough for consumers to buy them outside of normal purchasing habits.
I guess my point here is that it's prudent to make sure you have your own supply of some basic items in case of any emergency... If you're living in the area and have less than 2 weeks supply of everything you need, you're going to have problems in any emergency whether that's COVID, an earthquake, or anything else.
