I said 60GB lol. Don't need much for Metadata.

If you really want to do this, use the manual partition tool in the installer to make a root partition on the USB. Post-install you'll want to find and follow some old SSD optimization tutorials to minimize writes and stuff. Expect it to be super laggy every couple minutes as it writes to the slow flash memory.
Or you could buy a cheap SSD and SATA-USB adapter and use that instead for about $10 more than the USB.
