Anyone looking to follow this, choose your Bluetooth adaptor carefully. I've gone through about 4 before I found one that actually had good audio quality. This is the one I settled on and it's been great, supports aptx and sound quality is great: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_NIpTAbKQEB5GE
Not op, but I had the BTC450. Really great quality, and adds huge convenience of Bluetooth: it has a microphone built in for phone calls; one touch support for changing songs, answering/hanging up phone calls, etc; it looks nice and has a matte black finish to it; it is super small, doesn't take up any space either.
If your truck has an aux port, highly recommend getting a bluetooth to aux adapter from amazon or wherever.
I have one in my 2009 Civic and it's just like having car bluetooth. Was like $30. I'll edit and link in one sec.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IK1HFbXDSZW1V
This one even has a usb port on the power cord so you can charge. Just make sure you plug it into a cigarette lighter on your truck that isn't on 24/7.
My z4 has the same issue with the aux input getting input whine from the USB sitting net to it. What I did was buy a bluetooth adapter that sits hidden under my seat and is connected to the aux input. I'm not sure why but I've never had issues with that getting any audio wine.
I get in my car, my phone connects to the bluetooth adapter and I select Aux on the radio and stream Pandora. Sounds great.
My Z has bluetooth but it doesn't have a2dp so I can't stream music through it.
Not this exactly, but something similar. https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1475425170&sr=8-6&keywords=bluetooth+radio+adapter+auxillary
Success! Mind you, this is on Android using a Pixel 6. The adapter is quite pricey at $40 USD, but it is one of few that uses apt-x, which is better than AAC and the Volt's built in streaming, quality wise.
Steps:
2.Install. Using the center console 12v and aux jack, plug in. cable is thin, take care to mount the 12v plug 90 degrees to either side so that there is less stress on the cable
3. Pair. When device powers on, if it fails to pair press the center (acts as a button) for 8-10 seconds even if red/blue flashing in pairing mode.
Configure to use car hands-free over adapters. In your phones bluetooth settings, turn OFF "media audio" for Chevy Volt
4a. Turn OFF "phone calls" and disallow contact sharing for BTC450
Finalizing. Mount the BTC450 wherever you please. Personally, I ran mine through the passenger side of the console, around the entire storage compartment, and out through the drivers side, placing the control piece a little below my start/stop button for the car.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Car Kit (Hands-Free Adapter for Cars with 3.5mm Aux Input, Apt-X)
What you need is bluetooth to Aux port, so that it is always running, and your phone just connects automatically.
I have used a couple and the best most hassle free one is Kinivo BTC450.
I basically plugged it in, tucked away the cables and haven't had to do anything to it since then. It turns on and off with the ignition since it's powered by USB through a cigarette lighter charger and my phone automatically pairs when it's online.
I also have a 2012. Highly recommend this one. It has better audio quality because it uses a higher bitrate codec. Easy to install, has a port to charge your phone, and the pod lets you skip and pause. Also at least on my phone it plays nice being connected to both the car bluetooth for calls and this for music.
https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Adapter/dp/B009NLTW60
Used this one in a couple vehicles. Seems to work well.

I have a 2008 Volvo C70 convertible, and I have no issues connecting my Note 20 Ultra. I don't have bluetooth built into my car, but I have worked around it by using an old cheap Himbox bluetooth kit from Amazon (no longer sold) which connects to the Note 20 bluetooth, and at the same time I have a 12v triple port USB in my cigarette light which I charge my phone with. As soon as I get in the car, my phone is automatically connected via bluetooth. I have no issues with calls either. They go right to my car speakers. I set the Note to automatically answer incoming calls, which sometimes I truly hate. I do charge USB to a C. When the Himbox dies, I will get the Kinivo BTC 450 bluetooth car kit. Looks the same as the Himbox but now 2
Kinivo Bluetooth Car kit on Amazon times the price. Insane.
If your car radio has an auxiliary input port that looks like a mini headphone plug-in, THESE TYPES of Bluetooth adapters work better than the FM transmitter devices and have better sound quality. I have one of these in my personal car and my work-provided fleet vehicle. I tried the FM type prior but always got interference and poorer sound quality.
For anyone looking in to this, I would recommend something like this instead. It's a little more expensive, but it will turn on/off with your car. This means when your car turns off, your bluetooth adapter doesn't remain connected. The normal bluetooth/aux adapters are fine, don't get me wrong, they can just get annoying in certain situations when you're expecting audio to work and it doesn't.
This is the Kinivo Bluetooth adapter I use on a 2008 S80. It was highly recommended on Swedespeed and seems almost made for it. Just plug into the 12v outlet on the back of the center console near the rear foot well. Plug the 3.5mm plug into the jack inside the arm rest. Then just affix the button anywhere on the main waterfall panel. Perfect sound through your speakers and hands free calling. It also remembers your device.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Car Kit (Hands-Free Adapter for Cars with 3.5mm Aux Input, Apt-X) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8QP7VXWKN1QMZ12W3PS3
What issues? Keep in mind 2011/2012 only do Bluetooth phone calls. No music.
If you want Bluetooth media streaming, you need one of these (highly recommend this one, uses a newer audio codec and doesn't sound like tinny garbage)
Get one of these. It plugs in your aux port and connects to your phone via bluetooth. You can play/pause, skip forward/back. I recommend this one specifically over cheaper ones because this one uses a higher bitrate bluetooth codec. The audio quality is much better than the cheap ones. It will sound like the aux cord is plugged in vs the cheap ones that sound like a shitty low bitrate torrent from 20 years ago.
https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Adapter/dp/B009NLTW60
You can still use those headphones and even your car audio just with the adapter it'll come with, I've owned a few phones without headphone jacks and the only really annoying part is if you're trying to charge and listen to music with headphones. They are Bluetooth adapters for the car that will also give you a better microphone for car use. It only costs like $20 when they go on sale and gives you hardware controls for music. I bought this one for my old car that didn't have Bluetooth. It's not on sale now but you can buy another one, just make sure it has AptX so the streaming is good quality. There are even newer ones that support AptX HD.
Having the Bluetooth in the car is way convenient anyways, you can have the phone automatically trigger Android Auto when you get in the car since the Bluetooth will automatically connect which triggers Android auto to start. It's one of the options in the Android auto settings. Amazon is actually releasing an Alexa for the car that'll work as a Bluetooth adapter and add Alexa to the car and I think the introductory price is $25. You just have to request an invite to order since it's not out yet.
There's so much road noise in a car anyways that it's very unlikely that the slightly worse quality of AptX over Bluetooth is noticeable. And the car microphones do a MUCH better job for in car phone calls and you can also keep your phone your pocket and play the last playlist. I really recommend getting a Bluetooth adaptor for your car whether or not your phone has a headphone jack.
I have a 2012, and I usually get around 45 miles on EV in the summer, and I live in a relatively hilly area.
In the winter I typically get 20-25, sometimes less (It can get VERY cold where I live).
I'm at 70k miles right now, and haven't really had any issues yet. Definitely look into getting a Voltscreen asap, and if you want to stream music to the car speakers from your phone, the Kinivo BTC450 is pretty spectacular (the built in bluetooth only works for phonecalls):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0WHEFbAB34GAF
Easiest solution is probably get a Bluetooth bridge. You can charge your phone with a rapid charger even if you do that. The built in port only charges at 500ma which is incredibly slow.
I'm an audio engineer so bad quality audio stands out to me. A lot of the cheap bridges use an ancient bluetooth codec that sounds awful. I recommend this one because it uses a better codec (~cd quality) and the play/pause/skip controls are nice.
https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Adapter/dp/B009NLTW60
You can always get a Bluetooth bridge that plugs into the aux jack. I'm an audio engineer, below is what I bought. It uses a better codec than stock (ie: 2013-2015) so it sounds better. I can't tell the difference between plugging in the aux jack and using the Bluetooth. Only feature it lacks is showing the now-playing info on the car's screen.
https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Adapter/dp/B009NLTW60
A while back I was in a similar situation between Pixel3a & Oneplus6t. Went with 6t and couldn't be happier. The phone is a beast and has been holding up really well. No lag, sluggishness, awesome battery.
7t is certainly future proofed. The dongle is not that big a deal (glad that they provide one with the phone). I have Bluetooth Handsfree in car so don't miss the headphone jack while driving.
When you say bluetooth via USB, what are you ultimately after? Being able to pass track info to the car's screen and the stock media controls working? I'm guessing you have a 2011 or 2012?
I'm not aware of anything. I just installed one of these. It sounds better than 2013+ because it uses a higher bitrate bluetooth codec than the 2013+ gen 1 stock head unit uses (not certain which codec gen 2 uses, it could also be a lower bitrate). You don't get on-screen track info though and media controls are on the device itself, which I mounted below the power button.
A Bluetooth adapter kit is your best bet if you want to go wireless. I've set up this particular kit a couple of times and it works beautifully. Auto pairing, hands free calls (with decent mic clarity) and good quality audio streaming. Can't recommend it enough!!!
I really like this. Especially of you have USB and Aux in your center console. You just run the remote/mic out from there and stick it flat somewhere easy to reach.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - Supports AptX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/
I've had this one from Kinivo for about five years now and it works really well.
> Have you found one that supports AptX/HD that was also built specifically for vehicle use?
I've found AptX ones, but AFAIK there are no AptX HD ones yet. I've been searching around once a month since Google incorporated the codec into Android. I have this one but there are cheaper on amazon now a days and some even come with a ground loop isolator.
No Bluetooth? I have a 2010 Camry that only has an aux input. I bought numerous Bluetooth adapters and finally settled on this one that has been great: Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - Supports AptX
I really like this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_ZA9YAb47229A6
Aptx audio, so quality is great. I've gone through more car Bluetooth adapters than I wish to admit, and I'm finally happy with this one.
But I recommend picking up a ground loop noise isolator regardless of what adapter you go with.
One advantage with this Bluetooth adapter you've got a big central button to pause/play music answer/end calls. Two rocker buttons on the top to skip forward/backward. So along with the advantage of not needing to plug my phone in each time and having it auto connect I can control my phone without unlocking. Yes you have to plug the adapter into a power source (with a USB pass through if you want to charge your phone) and connect it to the auxiliary in your stereo. Once it's setup though you're done.
I got this...... Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - Supports AptX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
With this device I am able to just connect via Bluetooth instead of aux and free up the USB c Port for charging.
The device works perfectly everytime
I have used bluetooth exclusively on my past 4 phones for both headphones and in car (maybe I plugged in headphones once or twice to take a long phone call).
I went through a bunch of low-quality car bluetooth adapters and just found this one that gives great quality sound, it was recommended by someone else around here. It has buttons to switch tracks, activate voice assistance, etc. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I don't drive for long periods of time, so I never find myself plugging in to charge in the car. Obviously for long drives, especially using navigation, I charge.
Been using this for 3 years now with zero issues in my vehicle. Use it with my Nexus 6 daily and have had a range of friend's devices connect with no issue as well. Sound quality is actually really good for BT.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm)
I've used it for a few years now in my 2009 Prius.
I am having a weird problem with it since I got my Pixel XL. Very often, if I use it to listen to audiobooks or podcasts, when I disconnect from it, my apps rewind back to the position I originally STARTED listening at when I got into my car.
Not recently.. But highly recommend them.
Pop that on the radio, and hook up something like one of these bt receivers https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1508443657&sr=8-5&keywords=kinivo
I put an additional power socket behind the dash so the only thing i have visible is the button. It's boss.
I use the aux cable/BT adapter method (adapter is https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/)
No steering wheel controls for calling/seeking with that method unfortunately. Volume still works obv.
The little "disk" has the seek/pause buttons, so I've just got it mounted on the dash near the wheel. Not quite as nice, but was much cheaper than a headunit (and allowed me to keep the OEM radio).
Ya you would need Bluetooth or aux to do that. You could get a fancy active 3.5mm aux splitter and switch it back and forth between your Parrot and phone.
Or just get rid of the Parrot and mount one of these and do Bluetooth calling/music over one aux connection. It has a built in Bluetooth mic for the calls/handsfree commands to your phone.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - Supports AptX
Mine doesn't so i got one of these and I use it every day. I love it. It auto connects as soon as I turn my car on, if I have Bluetooth enabled on my phone (which i usually do.) Many cars build before cars came with bluetooth have audio input jacks to go into the stereo and you can put it on AUX mode to use it. I used to use a 3.5 mm male to male cable to plug my phone in, but this is way easier, it never goes dead because it plugs into the cars power adapter (cig-lighter). Basically it works the same as having Bluetooth built in when you have an older car with out Bluetooth built in. :)
Grab a Kinivo Bluetooth kit - I've only heard great things and they're really highly rated.
I don't think you'll be able to get factory Bluetooth working if the car didn't come with it. You can check under the passenger seat for an open wiring harness/plug connector where the Bluetooth module would go.
Honestly, I would just get one of these, stick it on the dash up high, run the wires under the center console, and into the Aux port. They give good quality Bluetooth streaming and calling.
I've got one of these little Kinivo Bluetooth adapters in my Camaro that just uses the Aux port, and it's been absolutely flawless for me.
I've actually had three of the Kinivos, in three different vehicles - they're dirt cheap and all three have worked perfectly...far more than I can say about the garbage Bluetooth connectivity on my 2016 Mazda's factory infotainment system..!
I'll provide the link to the one I got below, but most of them have the same specs and whatnot. This one has a cigarette lighter end and a 3.5mm jack end. The puck acts as the pause, volume (I just use my radio's knob for this), and next song buttons. This one is strictly Bluetooth. You could also cut the cigarette lighter portion off and use it to wire it directly to something.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - Supports AptX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_b8zizbJDTAWAD
https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60
Has plenty of wire length so you can tuck them away yet put the Mic/Transmisser somplace you want it. Also this piece has a next/previous track buttons. The power adapter has a USB slot so you can still charge your phone off of it. I liked it so well, I bought another one when I bought my wagon as I didn't feel like ripping the console out of my previous car to retrieve it. I have android and iPhone and use spotify + phone calls.
Otherwise, it works great
I've installed several of these for friends and family and they all love it. It does do phone functions, but you can choose to disable it thereby keeping your existing functionality. It's cheap, durable and works very well.
I use this In my 2010 honda civic and I love it. Would also solve your issue if your car has an aux port, but now built in bluetooth
This is the biggest issue I have with the iPhone 7. I want to connect the Aux of my car and also be able to charge my phone on longer road trips. My gf's car has CarPlay, and that shit blows. CarPlay is very finicky and loses connection randomly and sometimes will just straight up not work at all (won't even charge the phone). For my car, which doesn't have CarPlay, I'd end up having to buy the Bluetooth Aux adapter, such as this:
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - supports aptX
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_gJp0xbNMASNM8
Stupid move getting rid of the 3.5mm port.
I've been using this for a few years now, I'd get this even if you get an android phone. Aux cables suck.
Ok in all seriousness get an aux to bluetooth adapter like this Kinivo BTC 450.
There are a bunch of them out there, but I have/recommend the Kinivo because it supports aptX (high quality sound over bluetooth). I think Belkin makes a pretty solid one as well.
I have had one of these in my car for a few years now. https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1474408461&sr=8-16&keywords=bluetooth+car+adapter
I like it, its really easy to use and easy to hide as well.
After going through several rounds of potential solutions I finally bought a good Bluetooth adaptor that connects to my aux input. if you have aux input in your mini I HIGHLY recommend it.
This is the one that I got. -> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Don't mess with any of the other ones, trust me, I have tried them all. This is the only one that isnt utter shit. (in fact it is great)
What type of setup do you want?
If you have an AUX port then you can use a Bluetooth adapter like this. It's not the cleanest solution but it's comparatively cheap and it works.
If it's in your budget you could replace the stereo and put aftermarket controls on the steering wheel. Personally I'd go with this option but not bother with steering wheel controls. It can be a pain to wire up to the steering wheel cleanly and I'm not fond of how those controls look.
Do yourself a favor: http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60 I've used one of these for years and it works great. Plug it into your aux Jack and pair it with your phone and now your car has Bluetooth. It supports both HFP (phone calls) and A2DP (Music) and it has physical buttons for media control and answering calls.
If you have a phone with the audible app and your car has an AUX input you can buy a blue tooth audio adapter like this one I bought. I've been ysing it for over two years and it's super sweet.
I have the Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit. Didn't think I'd need it, but have found it to be extremely useful, especially with a MT.
Might be a silly suggestion, but have you tried a different dealer yet? I have found the the quality of customer service is only as good as the quality of the people that work there, and some dealerships tend to attract certain types of people (some cocky/arrogant, while others are friendly/helpful). It might be worth calling ahead to discuss the issue and then making a trip to the next closest, as they may actually care to help you out.
As an even sillier suggestion, you could just get one of these external Bluetooth adapters and forget about the issue completely (they are easy to jnstall and work wonderfully, but I know that I personally I would not be happy with non-OEM Bluetooth in my MK6)... http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60.
I use this in my car. Works great and the skip buttons are nice. Minutes to install.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - supports aptX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_3NhiwbAKXJZRY
Yes, it has both of those options. I filled up a tiny little USB flash drive with music and I also have used this via the AUX jack - it works but it's extra cables and there's a couple points of signal degradation plus noone can ever hear me when a call actually comes through.
How do you figure?
The Nexus 7, brand new, is selling for $165 on Amazon right now (you could probably grab one on ebay for less).
Either use an Audio cable or a Bluetooth car kit like this one
Then you'll need a car charger... that's usually $5-$18 depending on features.
Grab a car mount or find an in-dash center-console kit that will fit your tablet. That's usually around $20-$100.
Grab a Bluetooth AVRCP remote for media playback controls which usually costs $15-$30. Bonus if you can mount it to your steering wheel and make it look like the stock steering wheel infotainment controls.
That should run you between $240 and $350.
OOOOOOOr...
You could just use your phone... buy a car dock with wireless charging, AVRCP remote, and the Bluetooth car kit above (my current setup).
Pocket Casts is a really highly regarded podcast aggregator - it has a ton of features, aside from being able to remember playback positions.
Link me: Pocket Casts
As someone who's used a bunch of FM transmitters in the past, I would strongly advise against them. Compared to a direct aux line, they sound terrible, and if you drive any distance they will always stop working on any given frequency. You can get an aux input installed in most cars for a nominal (~$100) amount at any car audio shop. Throw in another $35 for a Bluetooth aux adapter, and you have a great-sounding wireless solution.
what's the BT module you're considering? Is it something expensive? I just have this little thing and it works perfectly.
As for 6.3l racing car vs your car...I'm not sure how close will you be able to get to it with a tune, but you can tune your BMW for $500 or so...it'll give you pretty serious increase in hp. that being said, I don't have a tune because I'm keeping the cash for possible repairs myself.
Check this little guy out. I had the same issue as you in my car. I never did figure out the issue. I bought one of these, plugged it in, and it works like a charm. It needs power so it plugs into the car charger but it has a USB port so you can charge your phone also. It's pretty genius. I've had no issues with it at all.
I currently use this and have just music stream over while calls use the built-in bluetooth in the car. the little puck lets you start/stop and skip tracks, and music pauses when a call comes in. I have it plugged in to the armrest with the puck by my idrive knob, and while I usually don't bother, the plug has a USB in that you can use if you need to also plug your phone in to charge.

i bought this to add bluetooth to my car, works well with my 920 for music play back and cortana integration. posting just incase you or some one els is looking for a solution for this problem
I haven't noticed the problem, but I do use this Bluetooth adapter which I highly recommend. I hope you got one that supports APT-X or your music is gonna sound flat.

I'm personally about to buy one of these which I'm going to install somewhere as hidden as possible. Hell, I'll probably just keep it in the little net by the floor on the passenger side. I have a smartwatch so I don't really need to reach it to change songs.
I've had good success with this one. http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1423428626&sr=1-1&keywords=bluetooth+car+adapter Charges in the center console, and provides an extra USB charging port. Accepts connections from any device.
I just got this and it gives me controls. I have it mounted on my dash right by my hand so it's easy to reach.
I've heard of some folks installing small USB bluetooth adapters in the car's USB port....do you have a USB port?
EDIT: If you don't, something like this is also an option
Yeah that just sounds like a terrible idea. I have this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_JNR5W2EY6GJF05YGXQ3A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It's excellent. Full hands-free, no complaints from the other end of calls, and it's been super reliable.
https://i.imgur.com/McbkFR9.jpg
See the little puck to the right of my keys? That's it. Cables are routed behind the knee panels and center console, aux cable plugs in to aux, power into the two port splitter. The other port charges my phone in the ProClip mount.
I got this one and it works great.

something like this.
I ran into a similar problem on the same model and year. This was my solution, it still works great. Hope this helps

I've used this one for years.
If you want Bluetooth media streaming, you need one of these
I have had one of these in a 2007 for years. Works fine over bluetooth. Plugs into the lighter and the aux jack. I’m sure you can find a similar one at Walmart.

2011/2012 only do phone calls.
You need something like this to play music over Bluetooth.
https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Adapter/dp/B009NLTW60/
I recommend finding one that supports Apt-X for the best audio quality. I used the BTC450 for a few years and it did a great job. Oddly they put out a newer version that was supposed to avoid the need for a ground loop isolator but the reviews are pretty bad on the new one. If you don't have electrical noise issues I'd probably stick with the BTC450, though I did use a ground loop isolator myself because I was using an Aux to CD changer adapter on my old ass car. I've also used the Belkin variant which I didn't think was as good.
Just make sure you place the mic/remote in a good place so it picks up your voice well and you can easily reach the controls for next/back/pause.
The only issue I can foresee a bit here is that some Buicks keep the cigarette lighter port on all the time even when the car is off, in which case the auto-on models may permanently stay on. When it's unpaired I don't think these use a lot of power but just something to check before using any of these.
OP get this. It auto connects and goes through your aux so music quality is better than BT.

It’s the Kinivo BTC450 I think there’s a newer model though.
You can get a Bluetooth receiver that plugs into the 3.55mm Aux input jack https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1527223479&sr=8-2&keywords=Kinivo+BTC450

I use this in my car that is a little older and only has an AUX jack but no BT. It even supports APTX. Fantastic adapter. Also my phone auto connects when I turn on my car. No bullshit.
This is the move Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - Supports AptX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_QFv1AbZDGGNKY
I got this one after trying more than I care to admit. It's been great, and the audio quality is great (supports aptx) and I've had no issues with it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used this Bluetooth adapter when I had a car with no Bluetooth.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
kia ora mate. That car is gonna bring a smile to your face. Take for it spin on someplace like the Tahuna-Ohinewai Rd or even SH30. FYI - BMWorkshop in Auckland are my recommendation. This is what you want to get for bluetooth audio/calling - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That is an amazing car for the money - https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2006-bmw-330i-long-term-road-test
You are enjoying one of the better dailydriver BMWs. The steering is hydraulic so you can place the car with confidence and that non-turbo 6 cylinder is creamly responsive.
Cheers.
Alrighty, here we go:
Step 1 - I picked up a Kinovo Hands Free setup. Uses AptX codecs so the sound is high quality. I had to change the aux plug to something more low-profile to still use the cup holder. You can see it installed HERE, along with a magnetic phone mount and old phone showing the Torque app.
The next steps were done because I only had the base sound system, which leaved a lot to be desired.
Step 2 - Installed Kicker DSC35 speakers in the dash. See first pic HERE.
Step 3 - Install Saab OEM 6x9 woofers in the rear deck for $50 on ebay. See pics 2&3 of the imgur album.
Connect them to an amplifier. I got the amp for free from a buddy at work. He didn't need it and it had water damage, so I was lucky it worked. Pics 4-5 of the album. The amp had speaker level inputs, so I tapped the door woofer ouputs from the stock amplifier and use the 6x9s like mini subs.
The front kickers gave me real treble, and the woofers can thump pretty good. All in all, I've spent probably less than $150. I'll probably swap out the rear small speakers to something better soon, and I may add a real sub to fill out the low end better.
You can get a bluetooth receiver that plugs into a 3.5mm jack if your car has one. This is the one I use
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've been looking at the Kinivo BTC series. The BTC450 will connect to your phone automatically when it gets power.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=psdc_1293687011_t3_B008XMV05G
convert that aux to bluetooth :p
I have this one from Amazon and it works great. I'm no audiophile by any means, but I am quality conscious and I've never noticed any issues.
Edit: Just found this one which looks similar, is cheaper, and also has great reviews.
This one has been working flawlessly for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60

Get this, never bother plugging anything again.
I'm currently using this in the car and music sounds great from this phone. Is anyone aware of an aptX HD kit for the car?
My car doesn't have bluetooth either, but I was already thinking about buying this so now I guess I will bite the bullet.
I totally agree with your point, but here is a workaround:
https://www.amazon.ca/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=sr_1_5
Yep, this is what I got, works fine for me.
This is what I got, works fine for me and has lasted about 3 years now.

That's the one I've been using for two years. It's $35 at the moment.
Get a Bluetooth HandsFree car kit. Best $35 I ever spent for my car.

One with an aux plug is probably slightly simpler to set up (though it's already pretty easy as it is), and you don't have to worry about radio interference.
Came here to say the same. Went Bluetooth 6 years ago and haven't looked back. This thing is still kicking 6 years later: Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60
Honestly, this thing is about the best thing I've ever bought for my car with an aux port: http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60
Fixes your problem and gives you hands free calling.
>aux cord and charger plugged it
Bruh, do you even Bluetooth?
I'm using Kinivo BTC450. This adapter provides audio through an AUX port and power is supplied through a 12V DC socket (US auto size). It also includes a USB A socket on the back of the DC connector. It's paired with Bluetooth.
Based on the product site for Jabra Freeway, the BTC 450 might not be comparable in its offerings (e.g. independent audio, auto-on/off). Based on the technical specs, I don't see HSP.
Yo I got this as bluetooth solution for my r50 and I love it. Much better than those FM transmitters
This is the one I have. Seems to work well.
I use this in my 2011: Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_OSqzwb4V40ARP
So, something like this?
http://www.amazon.ca/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60
I've been using a Jazzy Engineering unit on my 03 bugeye for a few months. No complaints. Easy to install. I run a kinivo bluetooth receiver into it.
http://www.jazzyengineering.com/product_info.php?products_id=45&osCsid=1g3fj91r9pis59k6g3hnodatt3
I recommend one of these to give yourself an aux input.
http://www.jazzyengineering.com/
And one of these, for handsfree/audio streaming.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=sr_ph_1?m=A3TG9YEWX61L6A&ie=UTF8&qid=1440619573&sr=sr-1&keywords=kinivo
And then you look totally stock, and don't get your windows smashed.
It's a 2009 mini, but I'm using a 3rd party Bluetooth accessory Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free car kit for cars with aux input jack (3.5 mm) by Kinivo http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_ZS5OvbCBZEDHZ
If it has an auxiliary port you could get something like this.
I used this to stream media via bluetooth from my LG G3 flawlessly for many months. Now I can't get it to work with the S6...or my Moto 360 :(
Heck no I won't. I picked up one of these to put in it. Should be all set after that.
i have been using this... i just threw it in the armrest and it works like a champ.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This has always worked well for me.
The device doesn't auto connect when you start your car.. Huge fail for me. This is what I've got.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack (3.5 mm) - supports aptX by Kinivo http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_q8xYub0Z1QP6C http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_q8xYub0Z1QP6C
I have one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60
Works fantastic. I'm considering upgrading my HU to one with BT built in though since 8thcivic premium audio units are known to have faulty lights.
I use this BT car kit and it sounds just as good as straight AUX did.
It can absolutely be spliced. As someone who recently made a head unit for my older car with a Raspberry Pi, Bluetooth music and calling, OBDII reading, and WiFi, I'll tell you it's not too hard to add it to something like this.
Use something like a Kinivo or a cheapo Mpow.
(If you want more info on the head unit build, I'll be making a full DIY post in the next few weeks once I have the time :) )
I agree that it sucks. If you end up going with a Bluetooth Aux adapter for the car, this one has been on of the most reliable consumer electronics purchases I've ever made. It's a little more money than some of the alternatives, but it's great.
Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit for Cars with Aux Input Jack - 3.5 mm https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_iaJuBbNKDF3CK
Get a Bluetooth adapter for the aforementioned aux port. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NLTW60/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_nMpWBPsncdEok This is one that supports aptx, works well, has pass through cig lighter cord with USB port built in so you don't need to worry about battery. Might want to get this as well, depending on how well your stereo is grounded. I experienced weird buzzing but my aux jack is soldered (by me) to my tape input, so I'm not surprised there was issues. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019393MV2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_GwFAL9sbYR2Z4
Anyway that's like $40 to turn your car stereo into fancy and not have to fuck with the aux cables again (which for me were always wearing out anyway.)
Throw out your car and buy a new car, why ask such silly questions!
In all seriousness though there are very good quality Bluetooth adapters for your car you can get that'll also let you answer phone calls while driving without touching your phone and they start around $20 for the decent ones. If you just want one that'll play music without also having a microphone for calls they're even cheaper but the quality of the streaming features is noticeably worse in my experience.
I use this one myself since it supports aptx: https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60/ I bought it on sale when it was like $25 IIRC and it's worked great for a couple years now. Looking on Amazon I see models with mics for as cheap as $10.99 so even if you're hard up for cash it's probably cheaper than the apple dongle
Theoretically a model that supports on device AAC decode would be the best for an iPhone if you're using Apple Music but I haven't found such an adapter for a car.
To be completely honest with you I really think you have a unique issue. I have Kinivo bluetooth adapter and a few other bluetooth headphones that I've taken dozens of calls on and never noticed any audio delay. I'm not saying there isn't any because there physically has to be some but it's nowhere near even a 0.5 second lag.
I have this and love it. http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60
You can get a tune on your factory ECU. Brew City Boost and JZW are two big saab tuners, although there are many others. I have a JZW tune and love it.
OEM bushings will last you another 10 years. Poly bushings are a bit harsher on some cars, on other's it feels no different.
I've tried a few Bluetooth->AUX audio kits, but this Kinivo model is the best. It's cheap, too.

This is what i use for my 08 328i. Great sound quality imo and I think the best perk is the buttons it has on it so I dont have to look and fumble with my phone to change songs.
