Get the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system. You can find it on sale for $100-$125 if you keep an eye out.
I had the 4.1 system before it got ruined in a flood, and got the newer 2.1 system a few months ago. Great clarity and monster bass for the size of the sub.
edit: no need for a soundcard. The mobo sound jack is more than capable, unless your system is from 8 years ago.

Seems like a common bundle for first time buyers on this subreddit lately. Did you hit that Amazon sale for the B5's and the A4L sale for the S530BT? I've only got about 1 hour of use under my belt but it is ridiculously better audio, an entirely different experience. I've had these Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers for years and thought they were great, after hearing the ELAC's I realize how naive I was. You can hear a subtle breeze blowing on the beach in Dunkirk when otherwise it would've just sounded like either white noise or no breeze at all, and you can hear individual splashes of water against the boat and you know its splashing on the left side of the boat. It's the "imperfections" that really made me realize how clear this new setup is.
In short: no impact due to the "missing" 10w.
I don't want to depress you, but the wattage numbers are pretty meaningless (i.e. there is no standard for measuring it). Most combinations of speakers and amps will (sorta) work, but ideally you should avoid too big a discrepancy between the two numbers.
My advice would be to research which amps complement the speakers you have in mind.
^(Most questions normally focus on the "synergy" between a specific amp and speakers, i.e. combining a "bright" amp with "bright speakers" will results in bleeding ears due to too much treble. You would then look to tame the "bright" speakers with a "warm" amp to achieve aural nirvana :-p)
And dude, RELAX!!!
This is a pretty big investment that could last you a lifetime. I know the feeling of wanting something YESTERDAY and I've made some pretty bad decisions while in a hurry. If possible, take your time.
PS - I just went and checked out your existing setup on Amazon. 2,000 plus reviews for an average of 4.5 stars??? That is a pretty decent setup you've got there. You can spend loads more money for a minimal improvement in actual audio quality. What exactly is it that you hope to achieve with the upgrade? ^(Personally I'd just get a nice little tube amp and get intimate with the HD650.)
Dunno which version you have or which version is being sold via the Costco link. I am just stating what I had to deal with.
https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
Just look at all the reviews about no power switch.
I'm not sure how the original THX certified 2.1 wired set sounds, but these Bluetooth ones sound the same as the current production THX certified, at least. I got the Bluetooths back in July, and just to compare, ordered the ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified on amazon here. Couldn't notice a single difference myself, nor could anyone else that I had listen. I was using flacs and a Fiio K5 pro to remove the hum and give them both the best chance but I really couldn't notice a difference. Just a warning to anyone thinking that the THX certified ones they sell now sound any different to the Bluetooths
I used these couple of yeas ago, was really happy with them Klipsch Pro Media
I also found these Klipsch speakers if you're interested.
Oh okay, yeah I couldn't find anything similar. Only thing I could recommend is getting a whole new set, like the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system. But it uses 3.5mm AUX and not optical.
I tried one for a bit before returning it. The position of the speakers sounds off-putting, but it's pretty decent (not $250 decent, though). I didn't like how it tugged my t-shirt around and I kept fidgeting with it on my shoulders.
The microphones were top-notch, though, and actually cancel all speaker output while you're talking so all they hear is your voice.
I originally bought them so I could use them 24/7, because at the time I was using my monitor's built-in speakers for normal play and a headset for playing with voice chat (they get tiring to use for a long period). I returned them because I'm an idiot and bought a stellar set of speakers instead.
Get the ones I got, $150 American dollars and the subwoofer is the AMP itself, so you don’t need any extra gear. Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000062VUO?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Apperantly they’ve been making these since the 2000s but like dankpods always say, good audio stays good.
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1
I was lucky enough to find them around $100 at Costco about a year ago. Looks like they're around $130 on Amazon at the moment. Solid speakers.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000062VUO/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_BAAGH5DYPQ7695Z9AMYA
I also use Peace Equalizer to make some minor adjustments to the mids and highs.
I always recommend Klipsch Pro Media. I think mine are 10 years old and they are still going strong. Work great as computer speakers not sure about using it with as TV.
If you want quality sound, Logitech is the wrong place to start.
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, if you're really looking for a gaming speaker setup with compact desk speakers plus a sub that actually sounds pretty good.
Personally, I spent my $150 on a pair of used bookshelf speakers (Polk RT25i) and a small, Chinese power amp (Topping PA3) for my PC audio setup. In terms of sound quality, this is my best PC audio setup yet.
Dont bother with that.
You can use any 2.1 PC speakers and subwoofer for more punchy effect. Something like this if you have the budget. Looking at reviews people use it with Series X and works nicely.

>For way cheaper:
>
>the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, someone saw them on sale (maybe at Costco, idk I'm not from the USA) for $80 which is a great deal.
They are only $93 on Amazon.
They're just desktop speakers don't expect to really be blown away. The guy above you has probably never had speakers by a legit audio company (you'll notice most of Klipsch's offerings are not this cheap nor something you see commonly).
Can someone tell me if these are the same speakers? I am not a Costco member, and these seem cheaper on Amazon.
These are pretty good. They've been making the same speaker for like 20 years now and people swear by em. I've had em 3 years and still love em, and they're onsale atm on amazon.
Right on, I used to have the same ones back in the day.
I'm not sure if they have these in Europe, but they're really nice quality for the price: https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=sr\_1\_2?crid=9RP87FG6WFYG&dchild=1&keywords=klipsch+promedia+2.1&qid=1629544387&sprefix=klipsch+pro%2Caps%2C222&sr=8-2
I use to have the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers, and they were pretty phenomenal for the price. Sub and two good speakers for around $100. The sub is no joke, I suggest not turning it up too high or shit will fall off the wall. lol
I picked up a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX for my gaming/work PC a few months ago after seeing various recommendations. No Bluetooth, and a medium sized subwoofer enclosure, but for not much over $100 it punches way above its weight class.
I am very happy with it.
Yeah it’s just the pro media 2.1. They’re similar price right now on Amazon and the Klipsch site. Here it is on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=klipsch+speakers+promedia+2.1&qid=1618410544&sprefix=klipsch+speakers+pro&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcn...
Just bought these Klipsch speakers and they sound incredible.
Hey man. I'm in the Edison area in Middlesex County. As to your questions:
I use this as only a PC monitor, but it is very accepting of a variety of resolutions/refresh rates, so I can imagine it would work with an OSSC no problem.
I use it with an amplifier and passive speakers, but as it happens I have a set of Klispch Promedia 2.1 THX speakers that I'm also parting with right now. If you're interested, I'd let those go too for an additional $40. I've fitted the L/R speakers with adapters so you can use any bare speaker wire, rather than being limited to the wire that came with the set. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000062VUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_XimCFbQN1CRE0
If you're gonna buy computer speakers, at least check something decent out. These are by Klipsch, a recognized name in audio. I can't speak to their sounds as I've never owned then, but I've seen them recommended several times over the Logitech ones. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000062VUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_0u6qFb6FBDFVX
Good luck
https://www.amazon.ca/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
Best speakers I’ve heard for the price. Have had mine for countless years and they are still amazing.
When my court used to have big New Years parties I used to bring it out to my garage and play music and no one could believe the audio was coming from just these.
These speakers are the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 and by god are they truly amazing.
Don't ask an audiophile, because they will tell you to get all this other shit. If you want music, game sounds, and youtube videos to sound crisp and clean with a SHIT TON of bass.. look no further.
Be warned though, the new generation of these bad bitches (with bluetooth) sound as good, but their bluetooth functionality is ALWAYS open.. so anyone can connect to them. Not ideal in shared living spaces like a college campus or stacked apartments.
Plus, the bass will piss of your neighbors.
Do you have any recommendations for a more budget amp or A/V reciever that has bluetooth? I can't find anything <150$. It seems that active speakers with bluetooth and a subwoofer output don't exist for under 200$ and I'd have to buy a subwoofer on top of that and active tower speakers with bluetooth dont really exist (or they do, I can't find any reviews on them) So it really seems just my best bet to buy a recommended a/v receiver + some bookshelf speakers and a sub rather than buying an all in one system like the klipsch pro media am I wrong?
I have a set of ProMedia 2.1s, non-BT, that I've been wanting to sell but they are so heavy no one wants to pay shipping. If someone is NE Ohio local they can have them for $80. Not sure on the exact type but where the power goes in says 240w and the satellites both say LucasFilm THX so I'm assuming they are 200w overall THX certified set like these: https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
These Klipsch speakers and sub can shake my house when turned up. Really clean sound at a nice price.
I am doing a new desk setup with new speakers and I am a little confused planning out how to connect my speakers. I have not purchased them yet but I am looking at these.
My plan is to connect my computer through these, as well as a line in from my monitor so I can use them with my Chromecast that is connected to my monitor. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to what hub/ splitters are available that would work out well. It would also be nice to tie my headphones into this but I am not sure if this is possible.
I read somewhere that a splitter could hurt computer components, I am not sure if this is true or not, but I just want to be sure I'm not damaging my rig.
Thank you for your time!
I mean the volume control is on the speaker so get it set up right or control the volume otherwise. As far as volume is works amazing, if you have the extra 50$ i would recommend the klipsch as they can get louder and have a finer control, little more bass but these are plenty fine, ive never turned them up past 70% volume for house parties. Audio input is 2 aux and 1 LR audio input if that matter for you. I mean these are high powered desktop speakers but im using them for my tv right now so take what you will from this.
The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 seem to get recommended a lot if you're looking for a complete system
I've got a set of Klipsch speakers that kick ass even at completely unreasonable volumes. They're semi portable and require no set up. Can't recommend enough!
(ok maybe 30 seconds of set up... But the absolute best value you can get in the mid price range)
On those two, judging by verified reviews build quality is 'meh' and sound quality is mediocre, which is normal for the price. Personally I would stay away from such product no matter price.
If you could get hands on set of used active studio monitors that would be best solution (linear response, mostly good build quality). For such low budget it is really only option - buy used. See how at /r/BudgetAudiophile do it.
Or as honglorn said, get Klipsch set. Save some dollars and buy those a week or two later. It is popular set and works, judging by reviews, quite well.

> The ProMedia 2.1 THX-Certified, three-piece computer audio system from Klipsch transforms your desktop into a high-performance audio entertainment center. Two 35-watt satellite speakers deliver full-bodied stereo sound, while a floor-thumping 130-watt subwoofer provides low-end slam from your favorite music, games, and movies, reaching down to an impressive 31 Hz.
> The satellites' exclusive Klipsch MicroTractrix horn maximizes clarity and high-frequency dispersion from CDs, MP3s, streaming radio programs, and other audio. The high-output, digital-hybrid-amplifier-driven ProMedia 2.1 offers a convenient headphone jack and dual stereo analog inputs, one for a more or less hard-wired connection from your computer's line or headphone output jack, the second to accommodate a portable audio device such as an MP3 or minidisc player/recorder.
> Klipsch operates with a philosophy that demands accuracy in every aspect of sound reproduction, which--in the case of the ProMedia 2.1--has resulted in THX Certification. THX is an exclusive set of standards established by the world-renowned film production company, Lucasfilm Ltd., and products undergo rigorous quality and performance tests in order to receive this certification.
Hey Kevp453, thanks for the input!
Are these the ones you're referring to?
> Klipsch Promedia 2.1
These ones?
Do you have experience with them? How would you say the sound quality ranks?
Thanks :)
That's the same ones i have, great cans for the money.
My last pair lasted over 10 years, i finally replaced the vinyl on the ear cups, which cost half the price of a new set, and they broke in half at the top a month or two later, lol. Just ordered a replacement pair.
These are the Klipschs I was talking about, they are THX certified. I use my headphones for precision and these for everything else. The ones I own are over 10 years old as well. The volume knob can be a little touchy but i barely crank these past 3. They are booming.
thank you for the input! do you have a particular opinion on this 2.1 set from klipsch? i've tested it out at best buy and enjoyed the sound, but i'm unsure what i'm "truly missing" by aiming towards the m20w or m50w you recommended.
How much are you looking to spend? If you just want sound and not looking for super high quality, then any $30-50 PC speakers are fine. If you want some quality and OK to spend some more cash, the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 speakers are a great option for $150.
If you spend just a little more money, much better option are these. The newest ones are apparently not as good, so looking for a used set might be a more affordable and supposedly cheaper option.
To avoid a receiver and still do 2.1, you would have to go the route of computer speakers like these but that limits your input options (type and number of connections)
I like this one http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1463458705&sr=1-1&keywords=klipsch+promedia+2.1 it is the Klipsch promedia 2.1, you can find them at best buy for a lot cheaper if you go the right month. I got mine for $119.
If I plan on using the EVs for house parties with say 50 people max and bedroom DJing does that make them seem more feasible?
I also don't have cash for a sub so I am a bit concerned on bass response. I'm really talking about an upgrade here from these, so I don't think I need to overdo it.
I'm taking a look at them now and they look pretty nice. I've also been looking into the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX (link here: http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=pd_sim_147_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=41kgImde1TL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0CC3XNF0S93EP5WQTWPF) and it's got some pretty good reviews. Heard anything about it?
You're onboard audio will be fine for speakers. Consider getting these, http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1451314989&sr=1-5&keywords=klipsch+speakers . I own these and they are absolutely phenomenal.
This seems to be my trouble. I've found some really nice sub $200 options in compact/mini sizes, but I don't currently own a receiver or amplifier. My creature speakers were 2.1 computer speakers. I'm currently debating whether I want to get something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000062VUO/ref=psdc_172471_t2_B0025VKUR0?
Which sadly has no control over treble--- I actually haven't found ANY computer speakers w/ a subwoofer and treble control, so I guess that was very rare?
or getting a nice pair of compact sub $200 bookshelf speakers, and sucking it up and buying a receiver. I'd prefer to not spend that much $ though.
These things are awesome. Get so loud you never need to turn them up all the way. Sound quality is great too. And you can control the bass.
This Klipsch 2.1 system really bumps for what it is. But honestly at your budget you are not going to find a system that plays trap well. You'd really be better off saving a bit of money and putting together a cheap 2.1 system, which can be done for 5-600 USD. While this is a more expensive route the sound quality would be way higher than buying an off the rack 2.1 system like the klipsch i have linked. Plus it allows for easy upgrading as time goes on.
Your sound card is just fine for playing good music, your limiting components are really the basic all in one systems. All the ones I've dealt with distort at the high end of volume. If you would be interested in building your own setup, I know both /r/hometheater, and /r/audiophile have great stickied guides for building a cheap but high quality 2.1 system.
I have had these http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO for 7+ years, and they sound awesome! I would highly recommend. If you have the budget I would pull the trigger. There is a reason they have a 4.5 star rating.
I don't know if anything changed over the years. But the absolute best 2.1 setup I ever owned would be the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system. They sound so crisp in the lows and the bass/mid/treble stay even as you turn them up (unlike some speakers that drown out the sound with bass).
As for my computer speakers, I use Klipsch Pro Media. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000062VUO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
For tt and amp and stuff: Audio Technica AT-LP60, Micca MB42's, and a Lepai Lp-2020. Of course with speaker wire.
Is it alright if I have my subwoofer for this 2.1 speaker system next to my build? The subwoofer does shake my desk, and I'm worried it may unscrew something or knock something out of place.
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 US$150 + shipping
Best 2.1 speakers I've ever had.
The front speakers are a nice size and have good sound.
The sub is a monster for it's size, but it is still quite big space wise. The only thing to be aware of is that it does not like to be moved around. The connector is quite weak and people say is easily damaged. Never had that problem and I've had my set for 4 years.
I love Logitech mice, just don't buy their speakers.
Bought a relatively cheap 5.1 Logitech system a few years back. They worked ok, sounded adequate but never great.
Recently I pulled the sub-woofer out of the closet because I wanted to pull the 8" speaker cone out of it to use in another project (sub-bass microphone for drumset).
I get the casing apart... only to find I had been tricked! The 8" speaker cone was a fake, some cardboard made to look like a speaker. Inside I found a much less impressive 4" speaker.
I wasn't mad that it only had a 4" speaker cone, that's fine for a cheap speaker set. What bothered me is that they had a fake speaker... I felt deceived.
(Slightly unrelated, these speakers are awesome and only about $150. I've never heard a better set of speakers for less than $200 Klipsch Promedia 2.1 )
I have the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 that sounds pretty awesome. Small sub and two bookshelf speakers. Clean tight sound, but don't expect to be blown away completely. It is self-amplified, so you won't need anything else. For under $200 I think it's about the best you can do.
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. $100. Tried and true.https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
I have 2x JBL 3 Series Mk II 8 inch studio monitors ($500.00) that I use for music production and honestly I just switched back to my Klipsch ProMedia's and use the JBL's for my record player instead because they produce PC audio at a better volume and with better bass for gaming and casual spotify listening.
edit: oh and the Klipsch speakers don't look like absolute shite like most of the logitech speakers (and they don't come with that shitty extra dongle with bass and volume on it that clutters up your desk - controls right on front of the clean speaker face)
I've had these Klipsch speakers for about 7 years and they still sound wonderful. And they hit. Slightly more pricey than yours but they go for around $70 used
Currently on sale for $89!
Get these, OP. Then get a BT adapter and plug it into the side 3.5mm input jack if you need one.
These will probably be my next PC speakers if my Bose Companion 2s ever die. I've had them for over a decade, so they should kick the bucket any time, maybe.
Best you can get for ~$100: https://smile.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
Thiis is what i'm interested in.

For this specific problem, I use a set of speakers with a subwoofer, doesn’t have to be a super expensive one, but decent. I use this set by Klipsch currently, though I did use an even cheaper one before this. Something like a tv sound bar with a subwoofer would work fine also. Then, instead of a normal white noise, you want something with some bass to more effectively mask similar sounds. I use this Nuclear Submarine 10 hour loop, which is pretty much just a constant low frequency sound played from my phone or laptop through the speakers. I can handle the constant sound of that much better than the random, repetitive sounds coming from neighboring apartments, car stereos, etc. Most of the time it doesn’t even have to be very loud, but I can crank it up if needed. I tried cranking up music, etc, but the constant sound in the loop works much better at masking external bass and eventually my brain just started tuning it out the loop sound completely.
This has been great tbh, currently using it with my record player at the moment until I move to a bigger place. Don't ask how and I know it's not the ideal setup. If you're worried about the sub, you can always lower the volume on the sub. I'm pretty sure this will go down on price for Black Friday but yea these did not disappoint.
I've heard good things about the Audioengine A2+ but their bit on the pricier side. I feel like imo the Klipsch pc speakers 2.1 is the best bang for the buck.
If you are looking for speakers to just listen and enjoy these are the best price per performance: https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
If you are looking for reference speakers to produce on I would recommend these: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Rokit6G3--krk-rokit-6-g3-6-inch-powered-studio-monitor
They don't make them like they used to. It's hard to find good ones now as fewer desktops are being sold. If you want a really good set, Klipsch still makes this set, for $150 but it costs a bit more than what you bought.
You could also get the slightly better version of this Logitech set Z333 here for $70 or the much better version Z533 here for $140, but in this price range, I would definitely go for the Klipsch.
I've been using my pc for a while now and don't have any speakers. I want speakers that are good for listening to music, watching movies/tv shows, and occasionally videogames. I'm inbetween two different speakers my budget is $200 if there is a better option feel free to tell me in the comments.

Can't recommend these enough. Klipsch is a high quality audio brand, they use high quality materials and components, and have a very even response curve. Can't beat it for this price.
Under 150 these are a gold standard.

Are you familiar with these?
I've noticed that this is a common suggestion on reddit.
Perhaps a set of these bad boys.
Soundbars are largely an overpriced gimmick. For PC you'd be better off getting a 2.1 set - two speakers and a small subwoofer.
I think this Klipsch set is often on sale for less than $100.

The speakers are the Klipsh ProMedia 2.1 with the grates pulled off. I’m really enjoying them. They are pretty overkill for my uses, but I’ve wanted them since I heard them in a best buy years ago. The stands are the ones that come with them.
The lights are the Phillips Hue Play Light Bars.

I picked up the Klipsch Pro Media 2.0 years ago and haven't looked back. For under $100(USD), they are amazing speakers. I've wanted to upgrade for some really nice ones, but then I just play something on the Pro Media's and am 100% convinced to keep them.

Nothing super-special.
Amazon.com: Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System (Black): Electronics
Get the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 for about $125 on Amazon. Sounds great at any volume.
Don't waste your money on Logitech.
Hey, sorry for the late reply, these are the speakers https://www.amazon.ca/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
Klipsch Promedia and a can of spraypaint would do it. haha

Audio is kind of super subjective. Speakers might get great reviews on a prosumer site but then get ripped apart on a audiophile site. Also the layout of the room can have a big effect on the sound, if it’s small maybe consider a 5.1 setup.
On the cheaper end you could get 2.1 satalite speakers with sub.
$140 Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 set is $90 on Amazon right now
$200 Logitech G560 advertises/claims virtual 7.1 surround sound(and has screen reactive RGB)
I have studio monitors on my desk and they sound great, but they’re +$150 per speaker.
Im replacing a logitech x530 because my new computer only has a 3.5 line in(Headphone) , line out and microphone jack
Im about to buy this Klipsch promedia , but I was looking for other suggestions around a similar budget, up to 200-300$ if its really worth it. It'll be for a small 100 square feet room in an apartment, used mostly for gaming and media consumption.
The micca PB42X posted here seems nice, and would would work with my pc with the posted cable, right? Is there no need for a subwoofer with the bass these speakers have?
Taking any suggestions, would prefer something better , but some clarifiation of the pros and cons of the klipsch vs the micca would be good, too.
Is this good for a gaming computer I'm building in the Fall? I know computers but nothing when it comes to audio

Wow, that was super helpful! I had a feeling the mixing aspect was going to be a big driver in the choice.
All of my video editing is for fun. Short film projects for local competitions. The only thing for pay I would do is wedding videos, so trying to decide how essential perfect mixing headphones are for that. If I decide to forget the mixing aspect, it sounds like X2 may be the right choice here. But if mixing is something I want to do pseudo-seriously, then HD598.
For mixing right now, I have a 2.1 speaker setup at the PC. I use the [Klipsche ProMedia 2.1 speakers](https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO), which I'm sure might make professional mixers cringe, but it's what I've used to date in my projects. Would the HD598 or HD6XX+amp be better for mixing than just using that 2.1 setup?
What would be the amp you'd recommend for the HD6XX? And what would be the lowest cost amp that would still make the HD6XX the preferred choice? I'll have to re-evaluate my budget for this one.
I know, right? I totally didn't expect this many recommendations! I'm currently leaning towards the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers as they seem to be the most widely liked for the price. But honestly there's so many to choose from I'm just going to sit on it for a bit.
New to speakers. Long time headphone guy.
Want something cheap but good for my lab.
Have my eye on:https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO Since a few friends have them...
But have been looking at:https://www.amazon.com/Micca-PB42X-Powered-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B00NXAEPDC/
I want to spend around $300-$500 when all is said and done. I am guessing we need to also factor in the sub and dac/amp?
much appreciated!

If you want a blue tooth speaker get a blue tooth speaker, but if you want bass this will let you down. the most popular ones I see (and have heard) are the klipsch media pro 2.1 https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1491835762&sr=8-3&keywords=klipsch+promedia+2.1
or the logitech Z623/625 (if you want optical audio)
To Norwegians.. $100 speakers are cheap. Here in America, cheap means like $20.. lolol.. for $100 I am not sure.. I would save $50 more and get THESE
Would that work with these speakers?
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000062VUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_t0xBybXQ2WDWF
Yep, also these are pretty dank
These are the speakers I currently use, and yeah my PC has a soundcard but I'm not sure the model at the moment.
Got any you can recommend? I'm looking at these right now.
Spend a little more and buy the klipsch promedia 2.1, I had it and it was great. https://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
Those speakers make me sad
/r/Zeos or at least Klipsch ProMedia 2.1
Is there something like this for PC sound systems?
I don't want the absolute cheapest system that you guys are willing to recommend, but I certainly can't afford the top tier. My budget is between $300-$600.
Right now I'm rocking Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, so I imagine pretty much anything I buy that's recommended here will be a huge step up for me.
I just want to replace my current speakers and sub with something quality, something you audiophiles would approve of. As the purchasing advice guide eloquently words it, I'm looking for a "wicked complete computer audio setup". I have a vague idea that I will need an amp or DAC or something to connect the speakers and sub to my computer... but I'm not sure what specs/features I will need to hook everything up.
This setup will primarily be used for listening to music (in FLAC) and playing video games. In case it's relevant I also have my plasma TV and a soundbar hooked up to this computer (I switch the sound output in Windows between my computer speakers and the TV soundbar as needed). I'm not trying to upgrade from the soundbar just yet, but I mention this because I'm wondering if perhaps an AVR (Audio/Video Receiver?) would be better than a DAC for my situation. (If I understand correctly, an AVR performs the same function as a DAC + a bunch of features such as sub integration and video.)
I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions that you guys are willing to provide.
I'm using the Klipsch Pro Media setup.
And yes, it's nearing "rave-worthy" status.
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000062VUO/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_Qdn5wbP5HAVZ5
Used to own these. Great sounding with a dedicated subwoofer volume control.
If you're focus is music playback, then something from a real audio company (not a PC peripheral mfg) is your best bet. Much better sound quality than most higher end computer speakers. http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
Better yet, piece your own together on parts-express.com:
I upgraded from that Klipsch set to 6.5" Dayton Audio Bookshelfs + 12" sub. My current setup:
Amplifier for bookshelf pair: http://www.parts-express.com/lepai-lp-2020a-tripath-class-t-hi-fi-audio-mini-amplifier-with-power-supply--310-300
Bookshelf Speakers: http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-b652-6-1-2-2-way-bookshelf-speaker-pair--300-652
Subwoofer (powered with built in amp): http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-sub-1200-12-120-watt-powered-subwoofer--300-629
You'll need two rca y connectors and an rca to 3.5mm converter as well for this setup. Basically you use the one of the Y connectors to tap the sub input off the left channel going into the bookshelf amp.
Klipsch Promedia. They're $150 right now, but it appears to have a history of being sold by Amazon.com for $109. If I didn't find a great deal locally, this is the speaker set that I would have bought. You can add this bluetooth adapter to play music wirelessly from your phone.
If you have enough friends over, like a party, you'll need a bigger system to overcome the louder ambient noise level, and at that point it's better to go with a stereo receiver and full size speakers. You can probably those those cheap locally, although it can be much more convenient to buy them new from Amazon. Sorry, I don't have recommendations for that since $200 really isn't enough for a new stereo imo.
I'm assuming it's probably too late to do this, but if you're going to be forced into the same small room for awhile and you're able to return the surround sound speakers, you will probably be able to get more bang for your buck from a good 2.1 or 2.0 system than an improperly positioned 5.1 system. The Logitech has pretty good speakers on it so it's not like it's a terrible option if you can't, but you could probably get better sound from sub $200 speakers by losing the surround that you're not getting anyways..
2.1 recommendation: http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433091180&sr=8-1&keywords=klipsch+promedia+2.1
2.0 recommendation: http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Studiophile-Active-Monitor-Speakers/dp/B0051WAM64/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433091247&sr=8-1&keywords=m+audio+studiophile+av+40
2.1 = Klipsch Promedias
5.1 = Klipsch Promedia Elite (hard to find since they don't make them anymore, but well worth the price even used)
http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
I have both the 5.1 elites and a 2.1 set, and they are both fantastic. The biggest difference between the two, other than 5 instead of 2 speakers, is that the bass unit is about twice as powerful when it comes to bass.
I've heard good things about Corsair's 2.1 set too...
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Gaming-High-Power-Speaker-CA-SP211NA/dp/B004H0MQYW/
I see. Better option than this? http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
I need a new sound card as well.

> klipsch 2.1 set
something kind of link this? http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
I don't have a specific price range in mind so going over that 100$ mark a bit isn't a big deal
Are you looking for bass? Clear sound? A mix of both? These are just above budget http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1423114538&sr=1-1
Speakers are Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, the Case is the NZXT S340 White, and the PSU is the Corsair AX860i.
>Do you guys keep it plugged in all the time?
Yeah, pretty much. I use my rMBP in the same way you're describing. I read through apple's suggestions on how to keep your battery healthy (sorry I don't have the link) and it said every few days you should run it on battery power for a couple of hours to keep it active. Other than that I have it plugged in all the time.
>What speakers do you guys use?
I don't use any since my monitor has decent built-ins, but I have used the Klipsch ProMedia speakers before in my office and they are great. (They have wires though...)
Sorry, can't say anything about the monitor but, I will give you a few other suggestions. First, I highly recommend the magic trackpad over a mouse. The gestures are such a time saver and I don't feel like I'm using all the features of OS X without them. Second, I suggest getting a mini display port to HDMI (or whatever you need) to connect to your monitor. Since you'll have the Macbook closed, you'll need to have it plugged in and having both cords going from the same side right next to each other is a big hassle saver. Lastly, I use the rain design mTower as my dock/stand. I love the design and it holds the rMBP really nicely. Yes, I think it is a bit over priced, but so are all the other options and it's something you kinda need.
Hope this helps you!
The klipsch Pro media 2.1 will blow the micas out of the water. This system is great!

These. Had em for 4 and a half years now. Love them so much they sound fantastic. Told my friend about em and he bought them too.
This is the best I can think of, http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO
Especially if this is for your desk
I roll with these: http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1391231266&sr=8-1&keywords=klipsch+promedia+2.1
Can make my entire house shake.
If you a really concerned about quality, you will need to spend a little. They just don't make good sounding speakers for too cheap. I have these and am absolutely in love with them. The bass is fantastic and the sound quality is better than some Bose speakers I have tried that are $50 more.
So while you said cheap and these maybe don't meet the definition of cheap. If you are really trying to get the best sound for your buck, I wouldn't go with anything but these.
I'm just curious but how are you going to hook those up to the PS3? Doesn't PS3 only have optical, HDMI, or component via a proprietary cable?
I would recommend some Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers though if you want some good speakers with a nice kick for the PC. About $180 USD on Amazon new.
A pretty decent setup IMO is the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. It has solid sound, is right in your price range and is super simple to set up. Others may have some other set ups, but this is definitely a good system and I love it as my PC sound system.
