Found great prices on Amazon for Kokuyo Campus notebooks. They are small, 30 pages each, but there really isn't bleed through and you should be able to use both sides of the paper so at that price it comes to 60 pages foR writing at $1.60 USD

I use either blank printer paper or a legal pad for stuff like seminars or working on homework. If I'm taking notes for a class, usually I'll use a proper notebook. As for which notebook to get, I think the Japanese have figured this one out.

Twice, I've used the following fancier notebook to take notes for a class I thought would be really important. It's just big enough to take a semester's worth of notes, and there's a table of contents you can fill in in at the front. The paper quality is also really nice, in case you want to use a fountain pen. It was really a joy to take notes those two times, and those notebooks have become handy references since
