I had the same issue back in 2010 with continental tires.. broke 2 bike lever so I ended up getting this.. Link saved me so much time!
Just depends on the manufacturer sometimes. Get a tire bead jack to keep in the back of your toolbox and forget about until you’re on the verge of tears trying to mount tires you spent way too much on to give up easily.
Pedro’s for tire levers. I’m also a big fan of the Kool Stop tire bead jack Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack, Black https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Stop-Tire-Bead-Jack/dp/B001AYML7K/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=TH8586L6UD92&keywords=kool+stop+tire+bead+jack&qid=1669016854&sprefix=kool+stop+%2Caps%2C238&sr=8-2#
Let me introduce you to my friend, the Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack.
Had so much trouble with those tires. Scraped fingers, hours of agony, and general frustration. Bought a bead jack, which helped a bit but could still only get the tire on one my wheels, and still that took hours.
So I gave up for several months, and ended up buying some DT Swiss Spline 32 wheels just so I could mount those tires. And then they went on so easy I couldn't believe it.
Anyway, but no point to this story except that they're so damn hard to mount that i bought new wheels.
Been there, make sure you have 2 tire leavers with you. And for home, I bought a tire jack. Seems to be about the only thing that I can use and to avoid damaging my carbon rims.
I present to you the Kool Stop bead jack - makes any tough-to-fit tire a really easy to fit tire. You can cut the handle down some to make it more packable on your commuter or so you can carry it in a jersey pocket, and it still gives you enough leverage to make the impossible possible. Pair that thing up with the puncture resistant tires you want.
You want to order this:

You’ll have tire on in 2 seconds. I used to wrestle with the orange trainer tires back in the day. There’s a video on YouTube on how to use it.
Some tire/rim combos are just hard. You can definitely bring it to a shop, or if you want to do it yourself what you need is the Koolstop Bead Jack. Works great. Just make sure you don't pinch the tube!

Congrats, you are one of the few who's been successful. So many hours of frustration and cut up fingers for me.
I purchased a Beadjack, and was able to finally get one on recently. But yeah, there's no chance of pulling those off roadside.
I've read that the Yskions are made by Hutchenson, and so thier USTs might fit well on those rims.
The marathon plus are the most difficult tire I have ever tried to change. This can help get it back on
For indoor use the right run is fine an alit easier to put on.

I would try the methods discussed as you should be able get the tire on with your hands using the right technique, but I have had a few that were a no go and this tool worked and using normal tire levers can have undesirable results.

If you send or take your bike to Kinetics (in Glasgow) they will fit it for free. I had, initially arranged for that. I live in Spain but was taking the Brompton to Amsterdam for a few days cycling and I was going to fly over to GLA for a day to get it done but this cursed virus put paid to those plans. I have a Rohloff hub on my MTB so I am familiar with the setup so I asked them to ship it out to me. The most difficult thing was removing the rear triangle hinge bolts. Brompton had been liberal with the Loctite so I had to buy a small gas burner that they use in kitchens to apply some heat to melt the Loctite. Kinetics were very helpful answering any queries as I went along.
You did well fitting Marathon Plus tyres. They are on my list of jobs to do. I have the added problem that the rim Kinetics used for the Rohloff hub is a Sun CB18 which has a high lip making tyre installation that much more difficult. I've ordered a Kool Stop Tyre Bead Jack to help with that job. Kool Stop.
If it has to do with puncturing the tube during tire install this will help. The problem with tight tires, is they are hard to work with when you're out on the road.
You can cut part of the handle off so it fits in a saddle bag, works amazingly well.

Just order it now. I don't have a lot of hand strength. I literally carry one in my bike bag with the rest of my flat repair tools.
The thing is, if you're going to start buying extremely puncture-resistant tires from Schwalbe . . . well, those are about the bitchiest tires to get on, period. Like Greenguards (Marathons), Marathon Plus, Mondials, and most of the really puncture resistant Schwalbe tires can be a nightmare to get on.
This is a dumb question, but you've checked to make sure these aren't pinch flats, right?
The M50s I have are a year old and just as bad with some tires.
Getting them on isn't so bad with this..
https://www.amazon.ca/Kool-Stop-Tire-Bead-Jack/dp/B001AYML7K
Getting them off you sometimes have to use a little clamp to unseat the bead. Impossible with your hands.
https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Stop-Tire-Bead-Jack/dp/B001AYML7K - your new best friend.
To make it fit into my saddle bag easier, I sawed off the entire handle, right up to the base that keeps the whole thing together. You don't need the extra leverage.
I've carried one of these forever, for various rims. Right now I'm on Hed Jet Plus rims and gp4k tires - same story as all the others. Those are hard to fit even at home - forget doing it on the roadside.
My hobby whenever someone is about to mention the Marathon Plus is always to warn the what a nightmare they are to put on, especially the 25 mm version:)
That being said, I run Marathon Plus on both my commuter bikes (currently testing out Gator Skins on my racer). I usually go around 3.500-4.000 km before the first flat at which point I often just replace it.
It's a very rough ride on those tyres, but I really appreciate the no flats aspect.
I have this tool in my arsenal to help me put the tyres back on.
I've had these tires before, and they are quite a pain due to geting that tight wire bead over the lip of the rim. I have had at least minor success with either leaving stubborn tires in the sunlight or using a blow-dryer to heat up the rubber to get it to slightly expand and make it easier to convince.
I've also used the Kool-Stop tire jack to great success.
I wouldn't use the levers as a way to continue getting the tire on by this point, because it'll likely pinch-flat the tube.
I've always used really wide MTB tires, so I've never had much of a problem. But when I tried to put 28c tires on my Cross Check, I had so much trouble that I broke several things in my house in rage at not being able to get it on. Then I bought this. It is just as amazing as it looks.
I had a similar issue recently, I rage quit, went online and ordered one of these, a tire bead jack.
Of course 5 minutes after I ordered it, I went out and managed to finally get the tire on, so still haven't needed to use it yet....
Glad you got it on. I bought one of these last time I had a stubborn tire and it is awesome.
Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AYML7K
A kool stop tire bead jack is probably one of my favorite bike tools
Get this... Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AYML7K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ELeqFbBDA02T6
Get yourself the Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack. Some tires are just more stubborn to get on. When I was having difficulty, even my LBS had to use this to get the tire on.
Several companies make good metal core levers and there’s always bead jacks https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Stop-Tire-Bead-Jack/dp/B001AYML7K if you can’t get the tire on with this thing that tire was just not meant to be on that rim 🤣🤣
Have you tried kool stop tire bead jack? These things are a must have, in my mind.
Yep, that sucks. This has done wonders for me. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AYML7K/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_4R7EK2FKVB4J0KNT8MAJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This is the tool for stubborn tires: https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Stop-Tire-Bead-Jack/dp/B001AYML7K and while I'm not 100% sure it will work on a 12" wheel I don't really see why not.
Bead jack could be your freind here. +1 to using a hair dryer to warm it up too.
Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AYML7K/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_K0ZHR3MS6TE2BWZ1NW28
I struggled with that too. I found this in Amazon. It works! Love it! No more pinched tubes or sore thumbs
I'm guessing they are super tight on your rims, there are some tire and wheel combinations like that.
Anyway the tool that works best for me is a Koolstop bead jack. I've snapped tire levers when the tires are too tight.
I cut off part of the handle so I can fit it in my bike trunk bag.
If your tire is tight enough, the bead jack works great!! You will need to bring it along in case of a roadside tire problem along with tire levers.
Get yourself a Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack and be done with it. It's the only way I've ever been able to get my GravelKing tires on.
Je me suis acheté ça, plus de galère depuis
Kool Stop Tire Jack can help
Never ever use a tyre lever to put the tyre back on.
Its all down to technique.
But if you are desperate use one of these at home;

I once fought with a Conti Gatorskin for over 30 minutes before I gave up and went to the google. Found this: https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Stop-Tire-Bead-Jack/dp/B001AYML7KOrdered it, waited a day or two. Used it, had the tire on in a few seconds with no problems. and now I have another tool for the tool box for future problems.
Get yourself a beadjack. It's even light enough to throw in a bag, but I won't mount Contis on those hoops without one- also far less risk to pinching a tube than with levers.
In addition to what /u/StgCan said, this tool has saved me a lot of trouble.
Thanks. I guess it's not too expensive of a gamble. I'm gonna grab one!
Edit: just saw this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AYML7K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_hNIzFb3FFZ1ZR
Looks similar but the geometry of the lever/fulcrum looks sturdier.
for the future. This works really great to get on the tight ones. https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Stop-Tire-Bead-Jack/dp/B001AYML7K/ref=asc_df_B001AYML7K/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241975700326&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9865483448796285076&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031245&hvtargid=pla-448754439296&psc=1
You have to knead the tire in a inch at a time from each side of the bead when you get to the last bit. Don't try to muscle it by pushing the center. Also make sure the tube has a little air in it, not too much or it will be hard to get the tire on.
You could also order a KoolStop Bead Jack. Not something you can take on the bike but great for having at home. It is most useful when the tire is new. This one you can carry with you on rides. http://www.retro-gression.com/product/var-compact-tire-bead-jack
As mentioned elsewhere in the comments, it very much depends on the tire and the rim. Bontrager is notorious for having slightly oversized rim diameters (same with Stan's) and slightly undersized tire bead diameters (same with Continental and Michelin). Those two characteristics combine for a difficult time when it comes to tire removal and installation. One of the best tools I've encountered for this problem is the Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack as seen in the link below:

How about you fix your horrible horrible horrible links in the future so that the spam filters don't nail you? I've taken this post out of the spam bin but won't again.
