I skipped all the cliche gaming chairs and bought a super plush executive office chair. A La-Z Boy Delano executive chair. It is comfortable af. I can sit in it literally all day and not have any discomfort. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0116W5B5O/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_BYYAGWZ60CBJN6H4M7QE
Preach it!
I tried out the DX Racer chairs, and I hated them. I enjoyed the high back, so I could rest my head up against it...but it made my ass hurt something fierce. So I got a seat cushion for my brand new chair, to make it more comfortable....it didn't work at all.
So I returned it, and got a La-Z Boy executive office chair, and it's literally the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. I even got myself one for work! If you are in the market for a new chair, this is the one I picked up.
I'm one of the "nerds with tendonitis" this article speaks of. It comes and goes, but I struggle with it during long sessions. I know I need to play less(especially when I work at a desk most of the day, as well), but I am trying to come up with a better set up to alieviate it as much as I can.
I use this Lazy Boy office chair, but you can’t lean back and play. There are padded office chairs without armrests I’ve used which are pretty comfortable. Just search “armless office chair” or better yet go to a store.
They can be comfortable but "gaming"/racing chairs aren't shaped for comfort, they are shaped for racing in actual cars where you need the seat to hold on to you so you don't slide around when cornering. Not a problem for gaming since you aren't being thrown side to side. It is one of the worse trends to ever happen in the PC gaming market.

Not the prettiest but boy is it comfortable. Sat in one before and it was the the comfiest thing I have sat in my whole life.
One is 1440P ultra wide which is not cheap to get. Its a high end monitor. The good stuff costs good money. It is 21:9 instead of 16:9. It is life changing for gaming. You can easily have two things open on it without it feeling cramped or possibly spend a extra ~$150 for another matching 1080P monitor.
That is VRAM, it has nothing to do with performance. Correlation is not causation. The GTX 1080 Ti is decent amount more powerful but you said you weren't crazy about graphics and honestly a GTX 1080 should do fine in the latest games at or near max settings and hit ~60FPS at 1440P ultrawide.
I got a lay-z-boy executive chair. best chair I've ever had for a computer.
