1. I don't think it looks like a house robe, but it's certainly a casual, breezy dress, and looks like it fits you really nicely, especially at the shoulders, arms and chest area. I'd look at hemming the length to fall somewhere between the bottom of your knees and the middle of your shins, the slimmest part of your leg, basically. Somewhere at or around "below the knee" and "midi" on this chart. If you're getting it hemmed, you might also ask the tailor to add some small darts just below the breasts and maybe one in the back to limit the amount of fabric gathered at the waist, which will do double duty - make the dress more comfortable when worn with a belt, and get rid of any bunchyness around your waistline that happens when the belt cinches your waist. Darts are ridiculously easy to even do yourself with a needle and thread. And because I'm a member of the big rack pack, one alteration that I've started make out of necessity to all of my buttoned dresses and tops is adding snaps strategically between the button holes, which ensures that I don't accidentally flash anyone. If it looks like your dress might have issues with the buttons, you can consider doing that, too. But I don't think you'll have that issue, it looks like it fits you really nicely on top.

You can style the dress with light coloured flat or low heel sandals or wedge heels, and a light, floppy hat and maybe replace the ribbon on the hat with the belt from your dress, and pair with giant sunglasses. Maybe add a fringe necklace like this, to create a v-line from your shoulders towards your chest, which is a flattering look on most anyone. I would also look at a contrasting belt, rather than the fabric belt that came with the dress. A light leather woven belt, or a corded or rope belt in navy blue with tassels, would like nice, too.

Hemming, darts, and belting the dress should give you a really nice silhouette that will emphasize your best features, while still being very comfortable. I'm looking at silhouettes like this and this as inspo. (obv. different dresses and different styles from yours, but I'm looking at the silhouette created with the contrasting fabric colours).
