It's a pretty large crate but I've sectioned it off with a divider as much as I can while still being able to use the side door. I could probably change the orientation of the crate so I can use the front door and then section it off to be smaller if you think that would be useful. This is the link to the crate I use: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000QFT1RC/, specifically the 42" one. You can see where the side door is starts and ends so I have the back part sectioned off right at the side door entrance. I was thinking it might still be too much space, what do you think? Mylo is 8 weeks old by the way.
As for how I use it, I've typically been luring him into the crate with treats. I have a folded towel on the ground with a pee pad under that. I also put his favorite stuffed animal in there that he likes to cuddle with.
Buy this, it has a moveable panel that you can adjust as your pup grows. Bought these when my dogs were 12 weeks old, still use them 3 years later

Also, do not place pee pads in his crate. The second he thinks it’s okay to pee in his crate, guess what? He will pee in his crate.
The true reason why pups pee indoors is because owners aren’t staying on top of it and letting them out enough.
> I read that a dog's crate should be only big enough for her to be able to be comfortably fit in there and not bigger but if she grows out her crate in just a few weeks than it would be probably better to get a big crate from the beginning. What do you guys think?
For you, your best bet would be to get the crate for the dog you're going to have, not the one you have now. She's likely to grow way too fast for you to keep up with her for about a year. Constantly buying different sized crates is going to be a financial drain (crates can get expensive). So my recommendation for you is the Midwest (formerly Kong) two-door crate. It should come with a fence that you can put inside to adjust the size of the crate as she grows. This means you'll have one crate, instead of buying several.
Now, the crate should be only big enough for her to stand up in, and turn around in. While my dog is slightly larger than what you're going to have, that only means his crate is one size larger than the one you need. I got the 48"x32", so yours would probably be the 42" (length) crate.
if you need examples this is like keeping several dogs in one single cage like this https://www.amazon.com/MidWest-Folding-Divider-Protecting-Leak-Proof/dp/B000QFT1RC
if that seems abusive then the example is working.
May I suggest a large dog crate. We have a 4lb mini rex and during the night he is crated up, then free roam while we are not home in the gated dining room.
His litter box, water bowl, and food tray are all in here with plenty of room for him to chill at night. We leave it open and accessable during the day so he can get in to use the bathroom.

Yes and definitely put a litter pan in there. Maybe you need one with bigger sides so they can't kick it out
This is the crate we got; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000QFT1RC
I like that it is easy to move and that it has an adjustable partition so you can adjust the inside as s/he grows. And it has a tray/pan underneath that is easy to remove and clean in case of accidents.
We also go this water bowl to put inside so ours have access to water while in it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MD3NLS/

It would have to MASSIVE to take up the same space as a crate was my point.
Samsonite's largest suite case, is still about half the foot print of a 42" wire crate, or about 1/5th th volume and weighs about 1/9th (unloaded) even loaded with clothing it still probably weighs about 60% as much....not to mention it has wheels.
And I'm not even assuming a 48+" sized crate, which is what's reccomended for a rottie, I'm assuming a 42" which has a nearly 20% smaller footprint and 30% smaller volume.
Again, OP has not stated that's the case in either situation so anyone/everyone assuming a crate is doing just that, making assumptions. But IF that the case then moving it may not be trivial/feasible depending on the house. IF that is the case the 'dog room' may not even have a traditional bed...there's a whole lot that is unknown here.
