Since your flair says A1, most books published for native speakers will be beyond you at this stage. Try searching for "easy readers", books written with deliberately simplified grammar and vocabulary for learners. Café in Berlin seems to be one of the more popular ones for beginners.
All stuff by André Klein on amazon is great: https://www.amazon.com/Learn-German-Stories-Berlin-Beginners-ebook/dp/B00F33E3C0
For consuming a lot of varied content I really like Linq.
Well, there are a few especially designed for language lernens on Amazon. This author seems to have quite a few for different levels.
This blog has a bunch of articles on learning german through reading, although I do not agree with their Top 5 books, because I read most of them in high school and don't think their something a learner would stick with. But the blog is worth a read. This site also has different books especially for learners divided into different levels. It's called 'Lernen und Üben'. Klett Verlag also offers similiar ones.
If you would rather go for 'normal' books I would either suggest that you choose a book you've already read in your native language, so you have a rough idea about whats going on, or to choose a 'light' book that also covers a topic that you're interested in, as you'll probably rather keep reading something that appeals to you. Maybe go for some comedic books like Vollidiot - Tommy Jaud or Er ist wieder da - Timur Vermes or Der Hundertjährige der aus dem Fenster stieg und verschwand - Jonas Jonasson or simple crime/romance stuff.
There are also plenty of websites where you can download classic german books for free. This site gives a good overview for different shops/sources. Also, if you have an Android phone, GooglePlay Books has heaps of free ebooks :)
You can look at a preview on Amazon.
Depending on your skill level. For beginners though, "Learn German with Stories" series is a fantastic place to start.
You can get it on kindle for cheap, or you can get it on other places for free wink wink
I thought this book series are great.
They are basic enough for you to read through understandably. Every chapter has a section to explain difficult words too. Its about an italian guy who goes thru various german cities (starting with book 1 = berlin) and his experiences and problems. The books aren't super long either.
There's quite a bit of stereotype in there but i think it's ok since it gives you confidence and also gives you a bit of cultural background across germany.
I like this. I'll probably get more http://www.amazon.com/Learn-German-With-Stories-Beginners-ebook/dp/B00F33E3C0 (I got the paperback)
