I purchased this Lectron unit. It seems to be working out well so far. There's quite a few brands with what looks like the same charger, though, so it's probably just a badged version of a generic charger.

$200 for a charger on Amazon.
Lectron NEMA 5-15 Level 1 EV Charger - 110V 16 Amp with 21 ft Extension Cord - Compatible with J1772 EVs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HHBDQ88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XQ6X0E2SSY2Y9J96KH1K
This allows you to charge at 16 amps vs 12 on the Tesla mobile connector. All you need to make this portable charger work for you Tesla is buy the j-1772 to Tesla adapter.
I did not want to mess with the safety of an extension cord, so I bought this and it’s worked well: Lectron 110V 16 Amp Level 1 EV Charger with 21ft Extension Cord J1772 Cable & Nema 5-15 Plug https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HHBDQ88/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_276P5WYV4TN1H6NBH6MW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I use this cable in a 5-20 outlet, which gives me 16A for charging. It’s 21ft long so it reaches from outlet at front of the garage to my charging port.
This isn't true. Level 1 chargers plug into the standard 110v 16 amp outlet. Level 1 charging is good for most daily drivers as long as your commute doesn't exhaust your entire range.

That Lectron isn't UL listed and it's 16amp which is odd since that is just above what 5-15 outlets are rated for.
Yes.
Or you can order a J1772 charger, like a JuiceBox Pro, or something like this and use the J1772 adapter to charge it.
We are lucky and have outlets inside of the garage. The closest outlet outside is too far for an appropriate length charger to reach the car.
I can’t park inside the garage but I did get a level 1 charger off Amazon (the one that came with the car was allegedly stolen on a test drive - the dealer knocked some off the price). There is just enough clearance for the cord to fit under the garage door when it closes so it works really well. Level 1 does charge slow but I plug in at 5:30 when I get home and by the next morning I’m at max charge. First day my predicted range was 26 (I didn’t get a full charge because I plugged in late), the next day 30, the next was 32, and this morning was 38. Either it’s learning or the battery is reconditioning. In any case I am getting about 4.5 miles per kWh.
This is the charger I got:

Not sure if it is rated for outside. Probably fine but inclement weather I’m not sure on the end where it plugs in to the house. On the Volt end it plugs in deep enough that I think the only way you could get water in to the plug setup is of the car was submerged.
Electric here is pretty cheap so I’m guessing about $20-30 a month on house power. If I can get to my church job and back on Sundays on battery (it’s about 20 miles each each way) I may be filling up every other month. Even having to use premium gas, 4-5 gallons of gas a month is not too shabby. In my Vibe I was doing good to hit 30mpg - usually 27-28, and I was filling up weekly so I figure I could be spending worst case $50/month with the Volt versus close to $150/month with the Vibe. That’s almost half my car payment on the Volt that I’m saving.
It is a different driving experience. It does have some awkward blind spots, but ironically enough my Vibe had them in almost all the same places so it hasn’t bothered me. The front console is a little overwhelming at first because of all the buttons, but I’m getting used to it.
Depends on how much you want to spend. Amazon has a lot of portable J1772 chargers for around $200. Most of them are all made in the same Chinese plant, just with different brand names.
Have you checked the plug and wire for any damage on your old one? They're pretty sturdy but improper hanging can cause a wire to fail.
