I'm no expert but I've also started growing wasabi 3 months ago. They need low intensity light if you're doing it indoors. When I first started gardening, I made a mistake of buying these shitty grow lights on amazon but they were too weak for my peppers and tomatoes seedlings.
Turns out they are great for my wasabi though. I usually just bring it outside in a full shade area. Then I bring it inside with low intensity light. It's been three months of this cycle for 24/7 light exposure and I only got 8 leaves growing out for each plants.
The a19 bulb you're using is definitely too strong. Try to position it farther away. You might also try to mist with water to keep the plant humid.
Good luck.
I bought one of these cheap Amazon clamp lights Plant Grow Light,Full Spectrum... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S3MT5GX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share to sprout my seedling. My first light wasn’t cutting it and my seeds also stretched pretty bad. I hope everything works out friend
You’re very welcome, I like this sub and how helpful people have been so when it’s my turn I try to be on time lol. I do live in a place with a south-facing window so it’s a perk but windows still block quite a few days so my plants did little stretches but nothing super severe. Went on Amazon, got a double headed light that clamps onto the windowsill, leave it on for about 16 hours a day, and voila. It’s been almost 2 months and all the new growth is compact now, especially on my sedeveria jet beads who were extra leggy.
Here’s my light! There’s even a coupon to apply for a bit off.
I just got this one in today, and have another one on the way that arrives tomorrow because not all of my plants fit under it.

It has good reviews and is relatively cheap which is why I decided to give it a try, it's my first time using grow lights. So far it works good but for results I'll have to wait a few weeks.
This is what it looks like now http://imgur.com/gallery/X0QtlZP
I grow orchids in the basement in cold weather, but I have grow lights right above the plants also. I used to use fluorescent grow lights, but have switched to LED’s over time as the fluorescents have died. It is more economical, and I like the light better, and so do my orchids. I’d you want a light for just a few orchids, I bought this on amaxon and like it for smaller spaces. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S3MT5GX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. I have Barrina 4 foot LED’s for my big lights, and love the price and the light, though I know many people who swear by the ones Dustyolman linked to. I used these to hang the lights, they make it easy to raise and lower your lights, whatever the brand https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XKLLVL7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'm pleased with mine.

I would imagine if it were closer it wouldn’t need to be. Have you tried the flexible grow lights? example
