This is how I've responded to my family.
I actually have two extra copies sitting on the shelf in case any other members of my family attempt a... well religious attack on me again. I just smile and hand them a copy and say "I'd like to give you this, as it will probably explain my position much clearer than I would be able to right now. If you'd read this and get back with me, I would then be more than happy to discuss this matter with you."
I'm currently reading Letter to a Christian Nation by Sam Harris and thought this excerpt may be fitting:
>The entirety of atheism is contained in this response. Atheism is not a philosophy; it is not even a view of the world; it is simply an admission of the obvious. In fact, "atheism" is a term that should not even exist. No one ever needs to identify himself as a "non-astrologer" or a "non-alchemist". We do not have words for people who doubt that Elvis is still alive or that aliens have traversed the galaxy only to molest ranchers and their cattle. Atheism is nothing more than the noises reasonable people make in the presence of unjustified religious belief.
I will check it out. Thanks for the link.
You should check this out if you haven't already.
Perhaps some Sam Harris would be kinder.
Duh. Sam Harris said this a few years ago.
Kind of related - I'm aware these are well known and probably fairly popular here, but each book can go a long way in opening the minds of religious loved ones you know.

Feel free to mention any others I've forgot!
