LG 27UK650-W 27" 4K UHD IPS Monitor with HDR10 and AMD FreeSync Technology (2018)
Just got this monitor last week and it’s absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t get this monitor if you REALLY want true HDR though, because it’s not really fantastic on this panel. I mean, it exists and it could make any game that supports HDR look a bit better, but that’s about it.
HOWEVER, everything else about this monitor is fantastic. - 4k - 60Hz (a bit of a standard now, I suppose, but that’s all you really need on the One X) - Freesync (in case you didn’t know, freesync is supported through Xbox one S/X now) - IPS display, for amazing colors - 5m/s response time (going from a 2m/s monitor to this, I really felt no difference at all)
It’s 423 dollars on Amazon, maybe you could get it elsewhere for cheaper, but let me tell you it’s worth the price.
It's generally higher but unless you play fast paced games at high FPS, input lag is pretty irrelevant on modern TV's.
I'm telling you that because I too bought a monitor to use my Pro on and was severely disappointed to the point I ended up selling it a few months later.
If you're really looking for one however I would recommend the following(look for either HDR10 or HDR 1000, anything else is trash).

You don't need to worry about 144hz, the consoles can't take advantage of that anyway. On the other hand, there are a decent amount of games for Xbox One X that can actually run at near 4k resolutions, so I'd recommend getting a a 60hz 4k panel with the best colors possible. I'm not as knowledgeable on specific models as others on this sub, but from some quick research this 4k IPS LG panel seems decent and squeaks into your budget.
Was recently able to pick up a PS5, and I'm looking to get a monitor to use with it. I've been reaching up on some reviews and other reddit posts to get ideas of what to look for, but a number of them were older, so wanted to check my information was current.
I'm looking for a monitor and not a TV as I would like to keep everything on my desk, along with my PC. Ideally, something around the 27" looks to be the sweet spot that I've seen for monitors people are using.
I fond some ones like the: LG 27UK650-W that looked good for the purpose and ticked a few boxes I understand are important:
What I'm having an issue with is finding something that's HDMI 2.1, which I've heard is supposed to be the desirable option for VRR (variable refresh rate)
My main questions are though: 1. At the size I'm looking at and given it's not a large screen TV, how important would VRR even be? 1. If I'm not planning on playing anything with a serious need for large refresh-rates such as FPS or competitive multiplayer, would that just more be a 'nice to have for me?'
Would appreciate any education or recommendations folks could provide to help me make the right decision

any 27" monitor would line up, but you can eyeball the bezels to try to get ones of the same thickness. like this one https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV
you can just get a monitor arm and vesa mount a monitor if it's not perfectly height adjusted to your liking
Yeah I wanted to get one in 2015 they were 1,000$ and 800$ for cheapest. there wasnt that much 4k content anyway so I waited a bit and got a refurbished lg650 4k for 200$ they were still 400$ at the time from a guy that was into racing sims and didnt want it it was the monitor that I researched to get and managed to find it in my local classifieds for dirt cheap I couldnt beleive it.

I have an LG 27UK650-W, amazon link here. 27 inch monitor, 4k, 60hz, nothing fancy but looks very good and gets the job done without breaking the bank. I haven't owned any other 4k monitors to compare it to, but I've been very impressed with the colors and resolution - some people will say that 4k isn't worth it at 27 inches, but I completely disagree.
I sit in the center of the living room with a wooden desk that hasn't been cleaned since the beginning of this past summer. I have a cheap Dell 1920x1080p monitor that is being held up by five Karma Koin cards (I used to buy NX for MapleStory to buy Premium Surprise Style Boxes) and a destroyed, unopened pack of 5 React mint-flavored gum because if I didn't have those underneath the monitor, it would lean a bit too forward because the stand wasn't built properly and is a piece of crap that doesn't stand straight at a 90 degree angle. No idea why the designer(s) thought that was a good idea for their product.
I have an OEM 2016 Dell Inspiron 3650 with an MSI GTX 1050 Ti 4G OC and an extra stick of DDR3L 8 GB RAM running at 1600 mhz underneath the desk on the left and my launch model PS4 Pro underneath on the right, standing up on top of some box whose original purpose was for storing Chinese children's books, next to an Amazon Alexa with my 2 TB SeaGate eHDD laying on top of it.
My keyboard for the PC is the Dell keyboard for OEM Dell PCs bought back in 2004 and the mouse came with the Inspiron 3650.
And I have a Silver/Cream colored DS4 controller. Though I plan to get this monitor once I save up enough money and a new one goes back to being under $450: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1537300562&sr=8-2&keywords=lg+4k+hdr10
> external device to do the splitting
Like a USB C dock? Like the ones from dell?
> Or can you get by with an external drive which is likely to be cheaper
No, My intention is not larger storage. I'm fine with the size. I just assumed that SSD's are faster. Even though its not the boot drive, i thought it'd make things faster. What kind of a replacement drive do you think i should buy?
> you'd need to clarify what your LG monitor connections are
Seems like 2x HDMI and 1xDP
Which is the cheapest gpu that can run 4x4k? Do you have a specific model in mind or can the cheapest gpu off amazon with 4 ports, run 4x4k monitors?
Thanks.
Are you using this one? https://www.amazon.in/LG-inch-68-58-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=asc_df_B078GRM2MV/?tag=googleshopmob-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=397042101274&hvpos=1o9&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17867001606034755779&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Vy4MDbQ8F6VH4
I have loved this monitor so much! It’s an incredible deal for a 4K monitor. Super clean, very small bezels and great picture for gaming and videos. 10/10.
I just got a 4K monitor, and I'm trying to get the best settings. Messing around with the Nvidia Panel there is only 8 bit and 10 bit Output color depth.
With Output color format having 3 options, RGB, YCbCr422 and 444. I read somewhere that YCbCR422 was better but in the game I was testing RGB looked better to me. When it's in RGB Output Dynamic Range is set to Full, whereas in 422 the only option is limited (greyed out.)
Finally, after I do the Resolution change on Nvidia panel, I turn Windows HDR on. But that changes the settings from Use Nvidia Color settings to Use Default Color settings. Seems I can't have both the way I want. So which combination gives me the best output for my monitor? I know it's probably not a true HDR monitor, but I just want the best picture with what I have.
I'm using the DisplayPort cable since I assume it's the exact same thing as the HDMI cable included, if not please correct me.
For bonus points, I enabled Freesync in monitor and then G-SYNC in the NVIDIA control panel. Not sure if that is helping me yet or not since I just enabled it. Thanks again! Here it is in case anyone cares: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_edpcDbD20BA0G

I’m so bad with tech specs so thank you for your comment
LG 27UK650-W 27" 4K UHD IPS... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
Here it is cheif! And sorry I got confused. My TV is 45" This monitor is 27". 45" would be a big a** monitor! Oops! Either way it's great and I love mine. You might find it cheaper somewhere other than Amazon!
I'm planning on buying this as a complement to my existing Acer 23.5" 1080p monitor. My desk can't fit a TV on it, otherwise it'll collapse. Is it really that bad, considering my situation? I don't wanna spend over $600 for a 4K TV because I prefer a monitor since I mostly watch YouTube videos on my PC.
Looks like from what i researched this Monitor :
is probably the best for xbox one x. Of course its more but ya.
ah i got it!
You would prefer this then. Or maybe i should consider this instead.
Or a 4K Freesync 2 monitor for like half that price lmao. Save yourself literally hundreds. Turns out they're already $479!
Don't pay the stupid GSync tax. You could literally get dual Vega 56's at that rate if you really wanted instead with that spare money.
This is a good alternative if you don't mind it being a monitor. It has a headphone jack, but no built-in speakers. 27" and can sometimes drop to as low as $440 on a good day.
A lot of 4K TVs I've seen are more than $600, but that's on newegg. What's your preferred screen size?
What do you mean? 4k 60hz IPS? So like this LG monitor isn't what OP is asking for? That's $399? With HDR10
Its not 1000 nit brightness, but OP didn't ask for that, he just wants something compatible with his PS4
You need to look at the input lag, not necessarily the 1ms gtg, anything around 14ms of input lag on a TV or monitor and your doing really well. You only need a 60hz monitor because the pro isn't going any higher than 60fps. I have a benq, Asus 4k, and this Is the best I have found that does 4k HDR10 and has < 18ms of input lag,
LG 27UK650-W 27" 4K UHD IPS Monitor... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
No. M1 iMac don’t support Target Display mode. There are a couple of workarounds. One requires a $100 dongle and the other Luna Display. I don’t know how well they work though.
https://9to5mac.com/2021/04/21/m1-imac-target-display-mode/
You’re really better off buying a regular 27” 4K display instead to be honest. Check out these two options for $330 and $346:
HDMI 2.1, HDR, 4K native, 60 FPS or more. LED panel.
Example of the one I have: LG 27UK650 27" LED HDR 4K https://www.amazon.in/LG-inch-68-58-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B078GRM2MV
Got this from Amazon this past Thursday and upgraded to a One X. Highly recommend this screen if you are looking for a gaming monitor. Looks and feels great.
https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV
Monoprice rebrands these and sells them for $399.99 USD. (With expensive shipping and tariffs on top.), however they do have one open-box for only $199.99 USD which could be useful if these Amazon ones run out.
For those interested in it, you're probably interested due to image quality coupled with screen real-estate. In that case, may I recommend the HDR10+ version from LG. It is not on sale today, but went on sale last Black Friday so it may be on sale come tomorrow. Monoprice used to also have a rebrand, but it's not on their website any more.
Hey friend. Thank you for replying.
First, the blurriness is still there but it's much better than the previous. Maybe it's because the lag issue.
Second, this is the LG model that you recommended me:
https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2YCUL9DJ4BDPI&dchild=1&keywords=27+inch+monitor+lg+4k&qid=1632594539&sprefix=27+inch+monitor+lg%2Caps%2C277&sr=8-1-
Regarding the lagging issue:
I tried the option key and went though the resolutions. Nothing changed except of the font size and the layout on the screen.
Regarding the DP cable... I don't know why its not working. I bought this one after I saw it was recommended by a guy from here (reddit).
here's the cable itself:

Sorry, but no. This monitor is 1080p at 27" which gives 81 PPI, i.e. even worse than 34" LG you tried before.
For 27" I would stick with 4K resolution or even better 5K.
Take a look at this 4K monitor: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2YCUL9DJ4BDPI&dchild=1&keywords=27+inch+monitor+lg+4k&qid=1632594539&sprefix=27+inch+monitor+lg%2Caps%2C277&sr=8-1-
Alternatively you might consider cheaper brand. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2790VQ-3840x2160-Frameless-DisplayPort/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ref=sr\_1\_3?dchild=1&keywords=27+inch+monitor+4k&qid=1632595009&sr=8-3
I use a 27" LG Ultra HD Display similar to this one, connected via USB-C to HDMI, and love it: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV/
FWIW I run it at 2550x1440.

Also a kilowatt of power costs in most places around 15 cents.
At idle thats like 10 hours if not more per kilowatt. Gonna need to own that thing for years to really matter
Which 4k monitor to go for(Mainly gonna use with MacBook pro and ps5)
LG 27UK650
or
Benq EW3270U

or any other 4k monitor that you think is better than these in this price range.
I went with this monitor as I'm really only interested in 4k 60 hz (it has hdr which is pretty rare for monitors still). I also have a tcl 6 series tv from this year which is capable of 1440p 120 hz if I get the itch for a higher refresh rate.
Basically 120 hz 4k monitors are still crazy expensive like at least $1000. So if he is interested in higher than 60 fps a 1440p 120/144 hz would be the way to go but then you miss out on stuff like hdr and obviously 4k. Something like this.
I pulled the trigger on a Samsung C32HG70 over the weekend cause the price went down to $460 on Amazon. But the price jumped to $550 today!
I highly suggest looking into the LG 27UK650. It has 4k with HDR. It's an IPS display also (amazing colors but slow GTG latency). The only down side is that it's 60hz, so it's a bit weak on the PC side. But this is a good deal right now on Amazon at $396! It's the cheapest it's ever been. If you want amazing colors at 4k... this is your best bet. If you want 144hz with 2k super sampling, VA Panel with 1ms GTG and also has HDR... go with the Samsung C27HG70.
(Side Note) Even though Samsung C27HG70 and the C32HG70 are 2K monitors, the PS4 Pro downscales everything to 1080P for all monitors that are 2K. THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE with the Samsung models. The PS4 Pro recognizes these monitors as 4K and the monitor will do all the super sampling. In my opinion, this is an amazing feature that I've only seen on this Samsung display.

Happy Hunting
Thanks for posting about the lg 27uk650, I'm actually now looking on upgrading my monitor to go with an PS4Pro that I plan to buy. I saw this for $395 on amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/ . I see it's already there on some sale, but did you find it anywhere cheaper on black friday ?
This is what I'm going with most likely:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_393IFbZ889TCW
I've yet to find anything better, especially around that price.
Absolutely. My home setup is 2x 27" 4k monitors ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078GRM2MV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) . My mobile setup is a ~17" screen laptop that is I think 1920x1080. Then I have a tablet monitor which is larger dimensionally but is smaller resolution.
When I have to travel and use the mobile setup my productivity goes way down. Being able to have more info on the screen makes it so I'm not scrolling for everything.
If you have a tablet that supports it, you can run both 4k monitors off the laptop. My Lenovo X1 Carbon can run both of them no problem. So if the power of a laptop is fine and it can handle all the monitors you can just go with that solution.

The smallest I would suggest is a 27" 2560x1440. These will run around $300.
Also if you can I would recommend a monitor arm that allows adjustments in all directions plus tilt/swivel.

Depending on what you want the first one looks nicer and has an adjustable stand which is nice to have up to you there are good options at the bottom of you price desires.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nRy4HB You have other options for GPU as well, I was thinking either 5600xt/5700xt from amd or 2060 super, hear good things about the 1660 super for 4k editing though and for 230 bucks is a good deal. I find ram and cpu more important slightly. Also if youd like to save 40 bucks on the motherboard msi b450m mortar max wifi is a solid option however the x570 tuf gaming board is a damn good board so just put that one there, also would allow you to easily upgrade to a 4000 series cpu if you wanted to buy down the road... let me know what you think. Lastly the keyboard I just put a decent looking 30 dollar keyboard on there if you want one nicer let me know, didnt want to give you a gaming keyboard with leds or anything.

This one is pretty good. https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV
You can get the LG 27UK650 for well under $400.
The HDMI port on my laptop doesn't always wake from sleep, but I've had that with every monitor I've tried.
Is this good deal on the LG UHD 27" monitor https://www.amazon.in/dp/B078GRM2MV/
Good HDR on PC monitors is expensive, very expensive. PC monitors have Vesa DisplayHDR categories
1000 = real HDR (colors, brightness, contrast)
600 = acceptable HDR (colors, brightness)
400 = weak HDR (colors)
So if you want actual HDR you need 600 class minimum, these cost 500+ bucks and 1000 class cost 1000+ bucks.
The Philips 326M6VJRMB is 32" 4K, Vesa 600 class, which you can read review here.
Closest to your to your price point is the LG UK650 for $350 which is pretty much 400 class even if not officially certified as such, the newer UL650 is Vesa 400 class, same display more or less.
I think I have it https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV can you see if its it. Please.
I forgot to mention that I already have this 4k monitor... https://www.amazon.ca/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV

I know this rig wont output 4k on most games (or any at all) but if I play at a lower resolution will everything still look clean and crisp?
I've never really been a person to play games on Ultra settings and push it to the limit. As long as I can comfortably play even new releases I'm pretty satisfied, but if I can get more out of it, that's cool too.

I have this monitor if it matters: https://www.amazon.com/LG-27UK650-W-Monitor-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B078GRM2MV/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1550002305&sr=8-1&keywords=LG27UK650

And some dinky like 16 inch Viewsonic for my second monitor.

already have a dell gsync 27 inch 1440 144hz, figure this would be a good mix to do non competitve games, PS pro, IPS style sickness.. and if i get an amd GPU sometime down the road it has freesync..
I’m seriously in the market for this specific monitor: LG 27UK650-W Amazon Link I’m just hoping that it goes on sale for the holiday season...
Yes, it is. My TV does 4K and HDR and was around $800 two years ago, and 27" monitors with the same specs are around $450 nowadays.
Actually, I am little bit confused which monitor should i go , 4K or 2k, i know from below acer has g-sync, 144hz. it great combo with my RTX 2080, i am waiting for the bechmark, how it perform over 4k , then will decided, i am going to purchase ryzen 2600x, gigabyte/asus x470 motherboard, 16 GB ram...etc... within this week...
