My monitor is pretty small, 24 inches. I got it for 300$ on amazon, but I play all my games in native 4K on the PC I built.
The PS4 pro is the only thing that can do anything regarding 4K (which 95% of the time is upscaled, so I don't see the point in spending 1400$+ on an awesome 4K TV to not use it for the main purpose it was built, but that's just my opinion). That being said, even the base PS4 can output 1080p or whatever resolution and just "stretch" it to fit your monitor size. Any monitor can run any resolution below its native resolution.
Now, you said your TV now feels too small. Is that because you are gaming from a couch/far away perspective? Have you tried putting it on a desk and trying to use it like a monitor to see if you feel more comfortable that way?
Here is a link to a good 1080p ultrawide monitor: https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UM68-P-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01BMES072/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1485982734&sr=8-2&keywords=ultrawide+monitor+34
Its a little bigger than your TV, cheap, and meant to be used "like" a monitor.
Yeah I’ve been looking for a high hertz monitors but haven’t been able to decide on one. The ultra wide is actual 34” my b. But it’s this one: LG 34UM68-P 34-Inch 21:9 UltraWide IPS Monitor with FreeSync https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMES072/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7XOzFbCPPPDAH
Here's a link :) I also thought about that one, but having used two 27's before this, and only using one window per screen, I came to the conclusion that I enjoy having physically split screens rather than digitally split ones, that 32:9 would be much too wide an angle for gaming (for me), and as far as I know movies don't support that ratio.
You'll be able to use the monitor just fine. It's already been pointed out that you won't be able to game very well on it.
That monitor has low pixel density, though. I would say drop down to something like a 75hz, 3480x1440 monitor if you want a monitor that size. This is what I would choose. That would make your gaming situation maybe a bit worse.
Otherwise I would suggest a 29" 2560x1080 monitor
I have this one with the, 3GB Compact Zotac card, and my BF1 experience at 2560X1080 has been very pleasant. All my complaints are aimed at the game itself.

The monitor is the LG 34UM68 monitor. It has been my daily driver for about a year but trying to save up and justify getting a Acer Predator UW
LG has good budget ultrawides. In that price range you're probably looking at one of the 1080p 75Hz models.
LG 34UM68-P 34-Inch 21:9 UltraWide IPS Monitor with FreeSync https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMES072/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_T1CjAb8GFZRAR
That one is pretty good. It was my first ultrawide.
Shit I did not know that :( Costco has these https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UM68-P-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01BMES072/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1503878744&sr=8-2&keywords=lg+34+inch+ultrawide+monitor for like $270 so I thought it would be a good monitor, any suggestions on 1080p monitors around that price point?
I'm looking at the Asus M004U Chromebox with additional memory and an wide monitor like this one.
Will the Celeron handle multi tabs and maybe a couple of browser sessions open? Will be doing lots of Google Drive word processing, some streaming of Netflix but no gaming. Any issues with the wide monitor or would two smaller ones be better?
Chromeboxes seem to be few and far between. Dell had a real nice one a while back but I guess they stopped building them.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Doesn't the upscaling usually not look too great?
$350 is.....maybe worth it. Especially if it can drop on sale to $300. But I didn't want to go this route and simply play games in 1080p because I've been told that upscaling 1080p to 1440p usually doesn't look that great.
lg 34inch ultra wide free sync 75hz and ips.
this has everything you wanted ips free sync i own one and its gorgous. You cannot see any pixels my monitor has zero light bleed i get no lagg on any game and the colours are gorgous.

LG 34UM68 vs 34UM69 (question on 75hz, G-sync compatibility)
Does anyone have either of these monitors? I have an NVIDIA card so would like to know if g-sync works at 75hz since that is a priority for me. Currently I'm don't see any difference between the 2, but I don't like the 'gamer' aesthetic on the 34UM69, so I'm leaning towards the the 34UM68 assuming its the same panel?
34UM68: https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UM68-P-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01BMES072
34UM69: https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UM69G-B-34-Inch-UltraWide-Reduction/dp/B06XFXX5JH
Don't think so. It is a refurb and an old model. The newer model 34 um 68 is on Amazon for only 40 bucks more. https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UM68-P-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01BMES072
Try looking into tthis one I have the 34" varient. Works wonderfully
Only +$200 Amazon link
$299 on Amazon - probably not great for gaming.
Update - the LG 34UM68-P is $399 on Amazon. Hope that’s helpful.

/u/spaceman1980 is right -- something like this would be better:
https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UM68-P-34-Inch-21-UltraWide-x/dp/B01BMES072
LG 34UM68-P 34-Inch 21:9... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMES072?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
I have this one. I know the refresh rate isn't great but I do a lot of work where I need the real estate this monitor provides.
Think Samsung has a few ultras that are around the ~$500 mark but use Freesync instead.
You can do something like this LG but it's only 2560x1080p for $300 or the 1440p version without Freesync for $550.
It really comes down to what you're willing to spend and what you have to power it. Personally, I wouldn't do ultrawide at anything less than 1440p; I've seen the 1080p ones and while they aren't bad I could never justify the price for them compared to a 100hz+ 1440p monitor.
Go to a Microcenter or Fry's and play with them all a bit, you'll figure out quick if the 1440p makes a big difference for you like it does me. You're entering the territory of tech where there are two routes to go; best bang for the buck and go real cheap or go all out and buy exactly what you want for wayyy more than you should be spending. You've already said you have a 144hz monitor, and I can promise you there is no going back from high framerates, so your only options left are how much bigger do you go? I don't see any benefit to cutting your FPS in half for 2 extra monitors, so to me the only logical route is to go bigger single monitor. So do you go 27" 1440p 16:9 or do you go all the way up to 34" 21:9.
sorry just accidentally forgot to take off the other one. What other CPU would you recommend? and i have a free sync monitor idk why it put that one sorry (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BMES072/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Found the other on amazon. What's the difference??

As far as a ultrawide monitor, I would look at these: 2560x1080 at $399.99 or 3440x1440 at $654.90
Keep in mind, some part choices were based on the fact that you wanted an Ultrawide with Freesync. I personally would wait and see if the prices come down pretty quickly for the 1070 and 1080 now that the 1080 Ti is coming into play within the next week.
just saw this on amazon worth a look
https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UM68-P-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01BMES072 and some acer 1080p monitor (ive been using all 3 components for over a year now)
Building a computer for my dad for photoshop and file managing.
Do I need 16GB of RAM for photoshopping? He plans to do some video editing but in the near future. Should I just settle on 1x8GB for now? Is DDR4 better instead of DDR3?
The second question ties in with the first. When he does start video editing should I just go without a GPU and stick with the integrated GPU (iGPU? The one that's inside the CPU I think.) for now? Will I need a GPU now for at least running photoshop at all?
He's looking for a ultrawide monitor. He's currently looking at this. Are there any other good alternatives to this such as a cheaper monitor but still the same size?
Here is the build list I have for him.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
Well, the 34um68 is 400 USD while the 34UM95 without thunderbolt is 550. I think the big difference is the 34 inch size, but the resolution definitely doesn't help the price.
https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UM68-P-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01BMES072/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1470170880&sr=1-1&keywords=lg+um68 that when it was on sale for like 350.
only 1080, but it still looks great. 1440p seems overkill.
http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-21-34UM68-P-LED-Lit/dp/B01BMES072/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
If you don't mind the low resolution then this is a great monitor for $500
I believe its the lg free sync ultra-wide
